I used to live and work in Takamatsu and the Rutsurin was between my apartment and my place of work so i would cross it twice a day. This video brings back lovely and painful memories. Lovely is easy to understand, because walking though this garden every day to go to work is utter luxury. Painful because one january morning i had overslept and was going to be late for work and so i rushed through the park and crossed the bridge 6:11 which was covered in ice and literally flew over the bridge and fell into the pond but, because the pond is VERY shallow, I landed on the rock and ended up at the Heiwa Hospital which luckily is right by the park, with a broken ankle and two broken ribs.
Just for the people who think how can you break a rib falling from a little bridge in shallow water. this is another view of the bridge 8:48 , it is nearly 5 meters high. I was so lucky i didn't fall on my head of i would be a goner by now.
I learned a very valuable lesson that day. It is already stupid to rush to some place you enjoy going to, but rushing to work is beyond stupid and no job in the world is worth you risking to die for it. I was worried of being 15 minutes late for work (something really rude in Japan) and ended up being 5 days late for work and in excruciating pain !
Since that day, when i am late for work, i am late for work, and if my boss has an issue with it, i'll find another boss.

Each one of your works is a luxury gift which comes to soothe the hardships here in this far away part of the World where we are so oblivion of the hidden treasures of life. Thanks

Great video: sceneries, focusing, perfection in lighting, cleaness in images, global integrity, harmony in secuencing, expression of the Japan's soul. Thanks

Dear Shiso production, i have a question about Japanese bridges. Why are the railing on the side of the bridges so low ? What is the point ? Where people so much shorter 400 years ago or is there another reason ?

Thank you for the many very interesting comments! these are all special experiences and i hope you got over the fall well. Sometimes people also fall into the pond because they are so amazed that they don't notice how they are standing on the edge of the abyss. These gardens are always so poignant.
The bridge railing is probably so low for aesthetic reasons... people weren't that small before...
But yes, given the great safety awareness of the Japanese, it is amazing that the purpose of the railing is not dominant. In any case, thank you very much for your description.

    栗林公園の園内の散策道は整備施工されてる状態でも石が凸凹としてて歩くの疲れました、趣を出すためとは思いますが
    、頂けませんね。公園自体は日本三名園の更に上と思いました。
