I’m only 10 minutes into your video but have to tell you how much I love it! What a unique way to combine perfume, history, and the holiday. You bring such a fun and unique perspective to the fragrance community ❤️
Hi Claire! I’m a modern-day pagan who grew up in the Catholic Church, and I currently live close to the infamous Salem, Massachusetts where there were a great number of trials and hangings of witches in the late 1600s. Even I didn’t know a good part of this information, so I consider myself very lucky to have stumbled across your channel while looking for perfume recommendations! Please keep making this wonderful content, and I hope your day treats you well! :)
Thank you ❤️ Yes me neither! I found all this very interesting, especially the bit about the story of stingy Jack! Loved this Claire! So interesting to learm all the history of our spooky traditions. I won't be going out or answering the door because there are usually a lot of early fireworks that upset one of the dogs, and the other one gets very barky at the door going. So we usually shut the curtains, turn off the lights and watch a film and cuddle the dogs. I have a sample of Penhaligon's the Bewitching Yasmine so I will prob wear that. Reminds me of the old Dior Addict which smells very witchy to me 🖤
So glad you enjoyed it! I'm sure I found a dupe for bewitching Jasmin the other day... I can't remember what it was now 🤦♀️ hopefully it will come back to me! Aah yes Dior addict was witchier than now for sure, they toned it down... And yes, very sensible. Dogs are easily upset at this time of the year. People are somewhat thoughtless with fireworks. Oh that is really interesting! Does the orthodox church have All Saints Day on 1st November? I think the UK has followed the US with Halloween, when I was little, it was less of a thing. It was more about 5th November and bonfire night! Thanks for watching ❤️

Yay I'm here to learn. I used to hate cats. Now I realize how much I love them. ❤️ I want a black cat. I love vampire movies, books and shows but I never want to meet one. I love your Lippie too. See here you go teaching. Vampires vs dead corpse vs disease spreaders. Burning hearts 🤯🤯🤯
Hi Tera! Growing up I preferred my dog but now as a adult I respect cats and their disdain! 🤣 Stroking a cat is one of life's great joys and when they love you, wow, you know that's been hard earnt! Vampires are fascinating aren't they? I need more vampire fragrances in my life! 🦇
Good morning Dr. Claire. I so love your forays into linking fragrances with history. As a serious cat lover I now plan to pick a fragrance out for my Athena(she’s a long haired lilac point Siamese). I personally have never engaged in Halloween but I don’t disparage anyone that does. The history of its origins are quite fascinating.
Thank you! Yes, I can't say I've celebrated it much in my life either. I used to carve pumpkins when I was a child but other than that, not much else. We mainly celebrate bonfire night on 5th November, which was more exciting to me because of the fireworks 🎆 I have always wanted to scent a cat 🐈 I absolutely adore cats! I hope you find a good fragrance to make you think of a cat. I think something musky or with sandalwood can be a good place to start. 🥰
Such a fun video! I still need to sniff the L’Orchestre line. Probably my favorite scary Halloween trope is the creepy soul-stealing vintage doll. Actually anything humanoid ‘uncanny valley’ really creeps me out. 😳 I’d scent ‘Annabelle’ with Splendiris for it’s vintage violet-iris with powdery musks like dried flowers that had collected dust and grew some mold. Happy Halloween! 🎃
Jackie that's a fab choice! I think I'd choose something like flora Mortis for similar reasons, it's a dead flower kind of scent, but weirdly it still smells pleasant 🤷♀️ I might also choose Gucci rush for Annabelle! I think piano santal is beautiful, so milky, and I've not tried it, but I know many people love bouquet encore too! Thanks for watching ❤️

Thanks for the insight into vampires and witches, very interesting. Although I’m not really into Halloween, Black Orchid definitely comes to mind! Who knew that Vampires don’t like roses 🌹 ❤
Perhaps it’s a bit on the nose, but I think a cat could also wear Bengale Rouge from Papillon 🐈⬛ I personally enjoy the boldness of the perfume but alas, my husband hates it. And come to think of it, when I let my two cats sniff the fragrance they recoiled! Your selections were better ☺️
🤣 cats are so picky aren't they?! Knowing how changeable they are, they'll probably love it next time they sniff it 😂 But wow, I didn't smell that one, I only tried Angelique so far, but I bet Bengale Rouge is a big fragrance!
Rewatching this since it’s Halloween next month! My picks (now) would be: Vampires - Black Orchid, Womanity, Encre Noire Witches - Aromatics Elixir, Poison, Freak (Illamasqua) Cats - La Panthere Edition Soir, Ghost In The Shell
Black orchid just is the vampire fragrance! And I think noir de noir too with the wine like blood feel! Oh and encre noire!!! I totally get aromatics elixir and poison for witches. Nala, what a beautiful name! Sadly noir pour femme is discontinued, but noir extreme and noir are still going strong I think. It's a shame 🧛♀️ thanks for watching 😘 have a lovely weekend!
I appreciate the history lesson! I saw a documentary on vampires and I think it was discovered that there's a deficiency? Or disease that imitates the receding gums etc. Anyway, thank you! Happy 🎃🎃🎃
Ooh, that's really interesting! I will look into that! I did find people saying porphyria could be another reason why people thought vampires were a thing (blistering skin on exposure to light). Maybe vitamin c deficiency? Blackening gums? I'm not sure! Happy Halloween 🎃
The story about carving pumpkins is so interesting. That Jack was a rascal. I really enjoyed hearing the history behind these Halloween stories and characters. You picked very fitting fragrances! 🎃🎃🎃
I didn't know whether more people would know about that story in the US or not! I actually had no clue about it at all until researching for this video! That really shocked me! Thanks for watching ❤️
So fun! Lune Feline would be an almost too obvious choice for cats. Angel's Share or Khamrah for Jack? Maybe Ambre de Alexandrie - but I feel as if Jack would have spent a fair bit of time at the pub, and that one might not be boozy enough. Not sure sure about vampires - maybe Venom of Love. Wicked Good for witches?
Thank you! Happy that you enjoyed this! Some absolutely fab suggestions! I can see angels' share for Jack 🙂 haha to lune feline 😂 venom of love and wicked good have some very well fitting names too. I loved scenting cats! 🥰
You look fabulous, and very beautiful lipstick colour. I love folk tales, I didn't know about Stingy Jack, enjoyed to hear ! In my opinion Hypnotic Poison EDP version is a perfect witch fragrance, so spicy-vanilla liquorice wonderful potion. To Stingy Jack I would choose YSL Kouros it's hell and Heaven in a bottle. Loved your video!!! Super interesting history!!! Honestly, Aura is my favourite perfume and it’s been discontinued :( I’ve been looking everywhere for something similar or something with the same vibe but it’s so difficult 🖤
You taught me some new things about creatures of the night today. I had no idea about roses being considered a deterrent. 😅I think your choices to fragrance Halloween creatures was apt. Thanks for your video Claire! 🎃🍬🍭🐈⬛🕷- Jenn
Thanks Jenn! Yes I'll admit I didn't know much about vampires before researching this 🤣 it's quite odd isn't it because roses are often quite associated with vampires in films, maybe because they are quite a gothic and romantic flower? Happy Halloween 🎃
I think I need to just get a cat, cos I am truly obsessed 🤣 yes stingy jack was a shock for me, I never realised there was such a clear reason as to why people carve pumpkins and I felt amazed that I didn't know about it! Happy Halloween 🎃
Amazing video!! This is just the Halloween fragrance video I’ve been searching for! Very well spoken and researched thank you so much ❤ happy Halloween!!
I do have one on valentine's history and also a few video about the secret language of flowers and dark florals. I also have some brand histories on Kayali and on Mugler and a video called what's in a name? Which is about the history and reasoning behind perfume names. There are also a few on musk, indoles, watery notes, petrichor and the story behind the development of solar fragrances... I also have one about some dark fairytales. If you checkout my video list and scroll, you will find them. ❤️ thanks so much for watching 🥰
Amazing video! I almost didn't click on this one because I'm not interested in Halloween videos but it was much more interesting than I expected! I loved the stories and found very funny and on point the perfumes that a cat would wear, it shows that you love cats 😆BTW Piano Santal is very high on my wishlist. It is one of the most addictive fragances I have tried and I feel very identified with cats!
Haha! Thank you ❤️ I do indeed love cats! Wow piano santal was love at first sniff for me too 😍 an absolutely addictive fragrance! One that if I wear it, I cannot stop smelling it, just so so milky and dreamy! 😊
I absolutely loved this video Claire. I appreciate all your research into the origins of all things Halloween - fascinating and such fun 🧙♀️🧛♀️ My SOTD is Cherry Punk by Room 1015. Not sure it entirely fits the Halloween vibe - maybe a leather jacket wearing vampire or witch? 🤣 Not sure what I think of my Kayali Invite Only Amber sample yet. It's quite different from my other fragrances. I've only got a tiny sample so may get a bigger one to test further. It's certainly interesting. All the things you said about cats were spot on! The black cat nonchalently filing its claws was so funny. I've got a black cat so I'll be flying over the fields of Norfolk tomorrow night on my broomstick with her riding pillion 😂
Thank you! That black cat gif is my favourite ever 😂 Invite only is quite complex for Kayali, their other fragrances are really a bit simpler. I think actually many people don't like it so no worries if you eventually feel the same. It's intriguing for sure! Cherry punk sounds a fab choice. And wow, Norfolk, so close to my home, I'm from Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. ❤️
Thank you! Well it's Halloween ☺️ filming RUclips videos has really made me realise you can wear quite striking lip colours in real life and unless they are truly bold, they all look nude! I never realised how little the camera picks up lipstick colours!

Loved your video!!! Super interesting history!!! Honestly, Aura is my favourite perfume and it’s been discontinued :( I’ve been looking everywhere for something similar or something with the same vibe but it’s so difficult 🖤
Thank you! It's not the same, it's probably more similar to Decadence, but did you try Floral Street Wild Vanilla Orchid? 🥰
@@dr.claire.perfume No I haven’t but I’ll definitely look into it!! Thank you 🖤
@@giorgia.m no problem 🥰
You taught me some new things about creatures of the night today. I had no idea about roses being considered a deterrent. 😅I think your choices to fragrance Halloween creatures was apt. Thanks for your video Claire! 🎃🍬🍭🐈⬛🕷- Jenn
Thanks Jenn! Yes I'll admit I didn't know much about vampires before researching this 🤣 it's quite odd isn't it because roses are often quite associated with vampires in films, maybe because they are quite a gothic and romantic flower? Happy Halloween 🎃
@Claire Smith Vampire the Masquerade even uses them as a clan symbol
Hello Claire let me watch the video now your content is sooooo goooood
Thank you Ruth! 🥰
Great video Claire, loved your choices for cats and I'd never heard the story of the pumpkin and Jack n the devil I found that very interesting 👻👻👻👻👻👻
Thank you 🎃 I really enjoyed making this 🙂 happy Halloween to you too! 👻
I absolutely love this video. Can you do more educational pieces like this?! Wonderful video🎉
@@dr.claire.perfume Thank you so much 💓
No problem 👍
Happy Halloween! 🎃👻So cute your inserts with the cats 😻Interesting regarding the carving of pumpkins.
Thank you! Yes I think I need to get a cat 🤣
🤣 very developed sense of humour 👏 Vampire fragrances 🤣 Shy vampire 😂 Love it ❤️ Cheers! 👍
🧛🦇🎃🙈
I love vampires, very interesting 🤔. I have a love hate relationship with black orchid.
🤣 yes I know!!! 🧛
TF Black Orchid…. Oh yes. Very bewitching and vampiric.
Mugler Aura does look like something a witch would love. Sinner… I have that. 😍
Black orchid is a true love ❤️ if I refilm my top 10 for life, it's going in to replace one I've finished and can't repurchase.
@@dr.claire.perfume I think it’s wonderful and distinctive. However, the price. Ouch.
Yes, Tom Ford is all a bit too much 🤷♀️
I absolutely loved this video Claire. I appreciate all your research into the origins of all things Halloween - fascinating and such fun 🧙♀️🧛♀️
My SOTD is Cherry Punk by Room 1015. Not sure it entirely fits the Halloween vibe - maybe a leather jacket wearing vampire or witch? 🤣
Not sure what I think of my Kayali Invite Only Amber sample yet.
Thank you! That black cat gif is my favourite ever 😂
Invite only is quite complex for Kayali, their other fragrances are really a bit simpler. I think actually many people don't like it so no worries if you eventually feel the same. It's intriguing for sure!
Cherry punk sounds a fab choice. And wow, Norfolk, so close to my home, I'm from Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. ❤️
Enjoyed the history, love the perfume lineup! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you ❤️
The dark lip is so flattering on you!👌👄💄
Thank you! Well it's Halloween ☺️ filming RUclips videos has really made me realise you can wear quite striking lip colours in real life and unless they are truly bold, they all look nude! I never realised how little the camera picks up lipstick colours!
Love your Halloween history lessons 🧛♀️👻🐈⬛ I was so curious about your picks 🤗
Interesting choices 👍
Thank you! Happy Halloween 🎃
This was terrific. Thank you! 💚
Thank you Donna! I'm really happy that you enjoyed it! ❤️
Interesting stories Claire! Enjoyed this 😉❤
Thank you! ❤️
This video is so great and I love the little funny inserts you add 😂
You have me so interested to smell fur and musk 🐈⬛
You put a lot of thought into this video ,I can always depend on you to entertain me with unique and interesting content !
Loved this so much
I will be staying home and handing out treats for the kids ! No idea what I will wear LOL
Hugs ❤
Thank you Frances 💖 I hope Nora has lots of fun! 🎃 Did you carve pumpkins this year? That la prima fragrance is very fur like! Just like putting your face in fur in the opening. I got a bit from Jon, it's one of his favourites.
@@dr.claire.perfume no I didn’t carve pumpkins ,she did with her mom and at school so I figured I could escaped that chore LOL
@@HappinessSparkles less clearing up ☺️ I'm with you! 😂
We grew up being told a lot of stories about vampires..one would have sworn they existed 😂
Yes, I think they are a cool idea actually.
Hi Claire! Love the lipstick 💄 ❤
Thank you! Purple for Halloween 🎃
I Love Narcotica Bright Black ⚫ --- The Beyond Best Perfume. 🧛🏻♀️ Fangs Out!!!
I need to try that one! 🎃 I made a video on scent colours (out next Saturday) so that sounds like it would have been perfect. 🧛♀️🦇 thanks for watching 🥰
I love the lipstick so pretty😻😻🧡🧡
I really like dark purple but I don't really wear it except around Halloween. 🎃
I can defo see a witch smelling or Aura 💚✔️
Yes, it's a strange fragrance with quite clashing sharpe, green and creamy notes. Very odd!
Many thanks and very informative
No worries, thanks for watching ❤️
Right up my alley 🎃🍂🍁
Me too 🧛♀️
The old woman down the road with a black cat 🤣🤣🤣
Probably me in another life 😂
Those cat memes 🤣😂😆 my daughter is a Leo zodiac and she loves cats…she also exhibits a healthy amount of disrespect and doesn’t respect authority 😳😬 I used to own a black cat awhile ago, he only lasted two years before I gave him to my friend…we didn’t get along at all 🥺
Haha Leo 😂 strong and fiesty!
Cats are very variable aren't they?! Some are just not very friendly. It's sad but it happens.
Happy Halloween Yulia 🎃
@@dr.claire.perfume happy Halloween to you and yours! Are you dressing up in a costume and going to a party?
@@sweetsimpleslowlife2709 I'm not unfortunately, but I am going out for fireworks with friends on 5th November 🎆 looking forward to that! ☺️
@@dr.claire.perfume oohhh, I love fireworks! Sounds like lots of fun 👌 I'm not going anywhere for Halloween this year either. Not to mention, it's on a Monday 😆
Brilliant video !
Thank you! 🥰
I will stay home Halloween my friend. I didn't plan anything, will you celebrate Halloween and dress-up?😍
I think I will be at home too, no parties planned this year. I'm getting older now and partying much less 🤣 have a lovely evening anyway! 🎃
Nice video, but why the "ph vampires can't exist" sermon? Also, didn't you miss zombies & werewolves?
Thanks! ❤️ I just offered explanations as to why people might think of vampires when there are physiological explanations I guess...
I was selective and didn't include zombies and werewolves as I wanted to tell stories and give info and select fragrances that I felt matched what I was talking about and I didn't have appropriate info / stories / fragrances for these. Thanks for watching 🥰
It's a good thing I didn't lived back in the day, I'd probably be mistaken for a witch.
These days I only considered as a crazy cat lady😹😹
Me too Anat! I'd be on trial. 🧙♀️
Hello dear sister 🙏🌻
I really like this video 😍😍😍
Thank you for sharing the wonderful video ☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️ great video 👍👍👍👍. Your work very well and you are very talented sister 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 May God bless you and all time happy your life ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ all the best for your life ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you! You too! 🙂
My black cat (Ketzach) is blind but she's very oriented and climbs everything. She also peed on my bed today so i'm big mad😫
Yeah I'd be mad too! All your cats sound a handful. Ketzach is so cute though so probably easily and quickly forgiven! 🥰
@@dr.claire.perfume Oh yeah, it's way too many cats for one person to handle😹😹
I had kitten fur but it smelled like rubbing alcohol (I think it was turned or something like that) so I returned it
Oh! That's a bit unfortunate. Glad you got your money back. I tried it in store here a few years ago and the bottle I tried was really quite spot on, I was surprised!
Good morning Clare
Hey Frances! 🥰
such a cool topic ;)
Thank you! 🎃
Oh! So roses keep vampires away 😮
Apparently so! It's odd because I always associated roses with vampires and gothic fragrances generally...
I'm all for it 🧛♂️🎃
Happy Halloween 🎃
@@dr.claire.perfume Thank you ! Happy Halloween to you too 😈🎃
Thank you!
Yes, the sinner bottle DOES look like a potion 🤣🤣
🧙♀️😼 yes, I wonder if it works on my husband? 🤣

Poor witches got a bad rap for everything that ever went wrong in the world LOL
And 10-15% of convicted witches were men 😱 I didn't know that!
@@dr.claire.perfume I thought they were all women 🤷♀️
Ha ha ha the worst perfume I've ever smelled.. Black Orchid. Of course it's a dead corpse. 🤣
🤣 yup!
Have a lovely Halloween 🎃👻🦇
Jack probably was also into the devil's lettuce 🍀😉
Yes I think you are probably right there! 💨 🤣
@@dr.claire.perfume But why the fart emoji😹🙈
@@silverliningfragrance1434 closest to a puff of smoke! 🤣
@@dr.claire.perfume You're right. so weird that they have so many useless emojis but no puff/weed one〰🔘 who is even using these things?!
🤷♀️🤣
Claire, you know far too much about Vampires. . I find that highly suspect 🧛♀️🧐🤣
🧛♀️ moi? 😂 I did read quite a lot about them for this video!
I’m not into Halloween 🌸🌸
Well that's ok 😂
The story about carving pumpkins is so interesting. That Jack was a rascal. I really enjoyed hearing the history behind these Halloween stories and characters. You picked very fitting fragrances! 🎃🎃🎃
Thank you! Yes I had no idea at all why we carve pumpkins before this video! Thanks for watching ❤️
