My interview with Steve Blum with Guilmon voice

- I met the fantastic STEVE BLUM (!!!) at Comic-Con 2010, and had an old Digimon season three catalog lying around. He kinda freaked out when he saw it. Since he was Guilmon, I got him to sign it to me as "Andrew-mon" I had a squee moment near the end. And he loves all the people on RUclips! Let him know that! Mad props Steve!

Good Lord, it's 3:00 AM, and I had scrolled down through the comments before finishing the video, but when this line came out of his mouth, I burst the hell out laughing. I would love to talk to Mr. Blum; he is an absolutely wonderful guy; hell of a voice artist, great actor in general, even not having started as one.

I met Steve Blum at Raleigh Supercon for first time, he sign my Digimon: The Movie DVD, papers of Digimon characters from Seasons 2-3 he sign my paper to me as "Caitlinmon"^^. I do know him as J.P. (Season 4) & Falcomon (Season 5) but I am not fan of Seasons 4-5, Fusion & Appmon much

He makes Guilmon sound so playful, fun and well..... like a child :D .
Not gonna lie, usually I usually prefer the Japanese dub of ALL digimon series (including Tamers), but in this case, one thing I enjoyed in the English Dub (of Digimon Tamers) was Steve's voice as Guimon (and Growlmon, and WarGrowlmon and part of Dukemon/Gallantmon). The guy's an awesome voice actor and no one can deny that
Well, he's been recognized even by the big movies media like Marvel, DC and even Dreamworks and Disney. But his Box Trolls were amazing.
loleo123 he also worked with video game legend Charles Martinet (aka Super Mario and many more characters). And that also says a lot about how good an actor and VA he really is

I don't know about his career nor about his connections. And if you watch Justice League Atlantian throne, Steve plays Lex.
And he's playing him with a couple of live action actors which, in my opinion... Is pretty kewl!

And I liked that he did make Guilmon sound like that because the timing was perfect.
The third season of Digimon is known as the "Dark" season. Very mentally and psychologically attacking the mind of the viewer. Like, when Takato turned Guilmon into Megidramon. Unlike the Skullgreymon case, Takato didn't see what he did wrong. He just wanted revenge for Leomon, which also was a really terrifying part of the season. The death of Leomon fucked up the mind of the children.
But even so. Guilmon still had this cheery character to him. Extremely great and it felt like he could be happy in any situation.
***** true. He was the ONLY thing I like about the dub on tamers (sorry but concerning Digimon Adventure 01/02/tamers I only prefer the JP dub :D )

Guilmon is played as a young child, so try to talk like a baby but with adult voice. Keep your tongue on the roof of your mouth, talk from the back of your throat, and then try and get the placement of where the voice is. Its lower than you think it is. To Steve's credit,only someone with a voice as deep as his could really pull Guilmon off.
These videos always bring a great grin to my face. I need to meet Michelle Ruff for Lopmon!
