Picking this up today. I've been real tired of the waves deesser so I'm stoked to give this a shot! Great value. It seems to me the lower band is likely there to clean up plosives which can be useful too. Might have to dosh out for the full version after some playing around!
Don't waste your time with this Garbage. It's a corrupt file that won't even open after you download it and anyone that's ever claimed to actually use it were paid to lie to you.
TIPP: you can use Cubase´s Stock Compressor "Tube Compressor" - set Sidechain - and then you have a great top DEESSER with absolutely a very good clean deessing sound !
It happened again. I downloaded the free version of the T-De-Esser in June based on a review. Being on sale now I ended up buying the pro version, looking forward to trying it out on other material like cymbals. The pro version use some kind of saturation to help the smoothing, and I guess that help remove artifacts and evens out things a bit more. At least they clame to do so.
Try bounce the vocal with the free plugin hitting-10dB and compare the original waveform with the bounce to see if the de-esser actually decreased the ”S-waves” by 10dB…
Ok, so there is a big difference in what you hear when you ”solo” the effected freq. BUT I think you’re missing one important part. The free plugin shows you the effected freq range AND when and how it’s gonna go in and out. The others just shows you the freq range soloed so to say. The Eoisis De-esser can also let you hear the way this free de-esser does. However I don’t think that is relevent to how the de-esser will work! It’s simply just two ways of showing you what content Will be effected by the plugin. There are certainly other things that breaks the different de-essers appart but I don’t think it has to do with the ”solo freq” thing…
You are totally correct. The solo button on the waves deesser is the detection circuit (side chain) which isn't what the deEsser removes, but what it listened to when deciding what to remove. Thanks for the correction🙂
And the other de-essers DO NOT take out all what you hear when you solo! Only the things in that range that hits the threshold you set! And one more thing, I would rather listen to when the de-esser does enough than looking at the meter showing me -10dB and think I’m done. Meters acts different, can be calibrated different and sometimes even just…be wrong!? Sorry, I don’t wanna be a ”hater”, I really like you showing free options and making compare clips, I like you as a person but I just think there are some wrong ”facts” here. Sorry again, I mean it, web has enough hate already! Best regards

Finally found a great free de esser compare to others.
De Essing turns an S into a THHT sound. Better to use full band reduction in other words volume automation to preserve tonality instead of dynamic EQ
