- This week we're looking at the making of this flattop ring in 18ct yellow gold - made using the client's old gold.
What fun, also the personalisation of the top! With two olive branches engraved and a diamond set (also sentimental, provided by the client). What would you call this style of ring? Damia and I were talking about it... Flattop or rectangular signet ring? Or something else? Enlighten us!
A simple video this week but we hope you're able to take a little something away with you. Got some more, exciting videos coming up with things that we've made since opening the shop and hopefully, a few more hing ring conversions as well.

Stunning! Fantastic work as always and thanks for sharing.
LOL! You gave her such a fright
Great video, very informative!
I’m so happy to see you guys, don’t get me wrong this is not my style of ring but it’s stunning and the craftsmanship oh my word, it’s beautiful 🤩
🙏🏻
Absolutely loving your channel. I’ve been thinking about a career change into gold smithing for sometime now.
@@bommert3816 it’s a wonderfully creative world. Thanks for watching and good luck with your decision
The result is great! Why didn't you cast this, if you already have the model and it's such a simple shape? Less loss to filing/sprue?
Just love shaping it. The wax was really only for showing the customer the shape and to calculate the weight accurately.
Hi Jaco, Nice video, very informative! I am researching into making my own rolex style signet ring, however a ring in this style is usually casted. Is a signet ring which is casted the same level of hardness as when it is hamered like you've demonstrated in this video?
Another great video. Curious about the ring clamp you were using that holds the ring from the inside 🤔
@@modelboxca GRS benchmate 👍🏻 thanks for the kind words 🙏🏻
@@jacothejeweller actually I was wondering about the wooden ring clamp with the dowels 😊
@@modelboxca ahh, yes 😂 I’ve just cut up a ring clamp and added a bolt on the other side to tighten up the side which holds the ring. It just makes filing a bit easier 👍🏻
Hi sir i am also gold work in India

torch was off --- unsub ---
😂 I got one of those fancy sparks now - but point taken - the torch will burn again 🔥 🤘🏻

Whaaaa?? Why not see the final steps engraving and stone setting?
@@bysykler4959 I do film some setting and engraving but not for this one - the ring was on a deadline and I just couldn’t spare the time. Will try and include it in the future 👍🏻
@@bysykler4959 because it takes F’ing hours as is ! Lol 😂
