I would like a high performance 4cylinder flathead built someday for a slammed 47 willys jeep rat rod light and fun to drive is my goal not massive horsepower v8 I have had my share of those
If you add overhead valves to this engine, it is no longer a flathead, so I don't understand the reasoning for doing so. Why not just get a more modern engine?
@Roy&Shashi Brock Talking about the Ardun heads ??? Its a 70 plus year old modification. Originally developed for Ford big trucks. More power potential. These heads were then discovered by the racing community. From the 200 original sets of Ardun heads, many speed records were made. They are now being reproduced, from several subsequent patterns, made and held by H&H, Don Orosco and others. Or maybe you're talking about the Dixon heads ?? Another later 1940's exhaust upgrade for the vaunted flathead Ford design. While not as romanticized as the Arduns .. .. or maybe not as plentiful. Remember Arduns were supposedly 200 sets cast. Dixons maybe a tenth of that. "Don't understand the reasoning for doing so" ??? Ummmm' .. history doesn't need to be understood. It just needs to be known. You must be new here.
Great job in preserving a dying art. Keep up the great work. Thank you for all you do.
Wow. Ford missed the opportunity to make a simple transition to OHV. The Ford flatheads are legendary.
Ardun style heads for a Lincoln V12??
Isn't it not too good to keep cast iron parts outside? How do you get around that? Great video!
Just a bit of hot rod heaven right there!!!!
Cool place :-)
where can I get a block hot tanked and will it take the rust out as well? Now I know where all the flatties disappeared to.
