Ruby Walsh has transformed from the greatest jockey to the greatest interviewer and pundit in the bat of an eye. Rachael Blackmore is a pretty great, too.
Most wonderfully humble person in racing. Good lass. So proud, and hope she doesn't retire soon. A relaxed horse is the best, until you're riding. People who don't ride simply don't understand. What a wonderful, beautiful, humble being!. ✌ girl. So proud!.
Cannot compare what Rachel has achieved to any other sporting greats. This girl is the dominant force in a male dominated sport. Beating all she met. Fearless brave and super talented. So proud to be Irish and wish Rachel many more safe rides wins . Hard work rewarded
@@finbarobruadair2761 Sorry about the spelling getting old nevertheless my sentiments are the same Rachael is just a lovable girl and so proud of her,as a person of 76 with no connection to horse racing
@@patrickmccarthy3123 You're a gem. As I said it doesn't matter about spelling. The fact it's boosted you, is proof enough how much it means. As a woman who used to take them out on the gallops, I am proud, even more proud she's not putting it down to gender!. So glad you enjoyed!. 😀
Nice interview. Says all the right things but dont let that lovely smile fool you .There is a determination behind those twinkling eyes. A proper jockey who is rightly at the top of the game just now. Long may it continue young lady .
A couple of Naturals just chatting. Perhaps that's why this interview is so engaging. It doesn't come any better than this. To of the greats....both in the saddle and "chatting".
Not just a brilliant interview all the way Ruby has genuine fondness for Rachel you watch his actions when she's racing a great jockey himself but he seems a down to earth genuine man .Two winners together.
Good interview an what a tactical jockey very like ruby the way he rides but so much harder for a women but there will never be another woman like Rachael in horse racing again I used to be a jockey myself an know how hard in is what a nerve an how she comes back from falls a real woman an that's why she won the national love this girl we went she the like of her again keep on making the men jealous
Can someone explain how much input the jockey has in the horse winning? Surely it's the horse that wins and the jockey's role is minimal. It's like motor racing, I heard someone say once that "the driver is little more than ballast". Please explain it to me, comment below. Thanks.
Jeff Oliver - it's a time honoured debate, what role does the jockey play versus the mount. Clearly, early direction is needed at the starting post: positioning; pace and drive for the jumps. However, it is commonly agreed that spirit and heart to win can come from the horse, especially in the final straight.
@Jeff Oliver To answer I would compare it to Formula 1 racing. It's like Hamilton, Schumacher or Alonso conserving their tyres or fuel or knowing when to pass or wait compared to a driver in the same car that's just come up from f3 or karting. Horsepower and grip counts but the driver will bring out the best in the package. Same for average, good or great jockeys in my opinion.
Take the arguments to extremes.....if Manilla Times has me as a jockey, he's never gonna win anything again. If Rachel is on a donkey, she's never gonna win again. So get me on Manilla and Rachel on a donkey and sit back and observe.😄😄😄
If she can win the Grand National the toughest race in the world she should be able to win smaller races on a donkey ...she tries very hard in big famous races but lesser races she doesn't give a damn . .truly unprofessional working for the bookies . She needs to be watched in smaller races as she is not trying hard enough as she does in big races just to win fame and more lollies. The true jockeys are Lester Piggeot, Tony McCoy and Frankie Dettori who give their best in all races ..friends of the punters ..no cheater's
She has become like the rest ..tries very hard to win big ones with big price money and fame ..she floops on easy races sometimes favourate and well fancied ...and she lets you down where she should have won easily ...she is bookies friend not punters as she should not be selective but full effort in all races
Take today for example ..she had 6 rides @ Fairyhouse ..she managed to win just one race ...she blew up on a hot favourite...if she can win the grand national and win high class races at Cheltenham surely she can win smaller races with weaker opposition....shows she works for the bookies not for punters ...she is the bookies best friend and has no care for the punters ..most sports are fixed and she is part of the fix game
Would you be willing to say that in a civil action in court?? Because if she reads this, that's where you will be heading with your libelous accusations and once that's over you will be butthurting alot more than the few quid you wasted on the nags because you obviously don't have a clue about punting.
After her success in the Cheltenham she one racing day had to travel far for just one ride which was well fancied to win...she went she rode ..she lost ..seemed deliberately . ..she like most of the rest work for the bookies ..if this sport was straight all the bookies would have closed down long time ago jockies, trainer's feed the bookies and then the bookies feed this sport by corrupt means so the sport goes on and on ..like I said if this sport was straight there would be no bookies left as the punters would finish them up
You think success in one race on a certain horse, will mean the hot Fav she rides the next day should win, go and learn the odds, and maybe a little about racing culture , Jockeys, owners or trainers do NOT like the bookies.
Hope she reads my comment ...you did very well at big Cheltenham festival and big grand national yet I have backed you in smaller races smaller meetings and you are hot favourite to win and you loose ...it seems deliberately as the odds of you winning such races are nearly 99% yet you loose .. are you working for the bookmakers on the side ..must be because if you can win big races with stronger opponents and loose smaller races with weak opponents ..what have you to say to this ...behind the scene most sports are fixed ..later they are exposed
Maybe you are just a sore loser or a bad punter.. Winning jockeys are negatively priced at lower prices in smaller meetings as bookmakers are more exposed to punters following them, irrespective of their true chances.. But you keep blaming the jockey..
@@stephendunne377 I have been a punter since last century and I know there is corruption and fixing in sports to a certain degree and years later some of them have admitted it was fixed ...the horses are slowed down, horses are bought down fallen deliberately ...pacemakers who lead a less fancied horse to win ..there a lot more that meets the eye. ..why do bookmakers make a lot of money .. .mostly through corruption ..have you heard of cases where they refused to pay punters who won big money ..have you heard that they ban punters if they win too much ...how old are you ?

Stick to the poker machine pal. Virtual racing is your game. That’s the money game for you. Real world sports are not your game.
You need to learn the odds , even a one horse race would not be 99% certain to win. What age are you?? Five???
