Wow! After many years of using Illustrator, I never thought of using the eraser align tool for effects. Everyday is a school day. That is an excellent and very useful suggestion. Thanks Kayla. 👍🏼
For the the tip on maybe not merging an icon with a logo was most relevant and got me thinking. The mosaic colour picker tip was memorable too but there was so much to take from the video it’s hard to say.
I love your videos! You're such a positive inspiration and you explain things very calm and clear. If you want to some day, I would love to see a video about using pantone colours. I'm self-studying and practising graphic design for a while and I've read a lot about it, bought two colour guides, but I'm still unsure how to apply this in the actual desiging/printing process. Thanks for the tips!
Hi! What a great idea! I am actually planning a video all about colour so I think that video would fit right in 🙌 I'm so happy you find the videos and teaching style helpful 😊 Thank you for watching and being part of our creative community!
Hi! We actually have a few classes on Skillshare, especially around logo design and branding. You can check them out here (it's an affiliate link so you also get a free trial if you haven't used them yet) www.skillshare.com/en/r/profile/Malin-Lernhammar/161915345?gr_tch_ref=on We are also working on a really big class all about the full branding process, I'll make sure to keep you posted in the community.
@@Kayla-app Thanks so much Kayla-app. Will peruse the skill share classes. I really appreciate your keeping me posted of any classes in the future about Logo design and Branding.I am a budding designer but i am passionate about Logo design and Branding.
Hi! I'm not 100% sure which section you are referring to? Is it on the user testing site? I am visiting their website so everything there is part of their UI :)
@@Kayla-app Ah ok. No worries. Somehow the exampled logos shared there where all mine from an old logo design project. Not sure why they are displayed there..
Hi, I'm wondering about the last point : you say to try not to use modern typos, but I love typographic logos and especially with these new serif, ligature or display font, actually my own designer brand logotype is made as a ligature font, do you think it really is a bad idea ? I'm not saying I'm doing that for every project, but once in a while, when the project asks for it, it may be ok ? In my case, my designer studio name is Yoake (japanese for sunrise), so I went for a font whose A has a circle that starts with its horizontal bar and goes all the way down to under the thypo, because it kinda suggest a sun, without being too in your face and it's modern.
That is a great question. I think the most important point with logos is that they are: 1. Readable 2. Appropriate for the industry 3. Can take on meaning and grow with the company If you have a business where a more modern typeface feels right, I say go for it. I think it is just important to think long term and if that logo will work for the business in 10 years from now. The reason I brought it up is because I think so much of our taste as designers can be influenced by trends, I also love the modern ligature typefaces! We just need to think strategically and more long term when it comes to logos since they need to last for a long time. I often use more trendy fonts for areas of design that can change more often, like ads, print and social media. I'm sure you can trust your gut and feel out when a trendy font is right 🙌
Yes! I love design books 😊 I really like "Citizen first, designer second" by Rejane Dal Bello and "Now try something weirder" Michael Johnson. Both have a lot of interesting ideas and ways to approach a project. I hope that helps!
When my logo has a white mark on top of a black box, how can I make the transparent, so I can have it on a different color background? Putting transparency will just delete the logo, I need to "cut out the shape, but how.
Hi, I will do my best to help but I might need some more help. It sounds like your logo is saved as a jpg format. In Adobe Illustrator, you can create what is called a "vector" which is a shape that you can scale up and down and it will not have a background. I suggest re-creating the logo (without a background) in Adobe Illustrator and export it as a png file. If you are not familiar with Adobe Illustrator, Canva pro (you can use a trial) let's you remove the background and their AI is quite smart. I hope that helps. If someone else created the original logo for you, you could ask them for an Adobe Illustrator file rather than a jpg or other image format.
Hi! I made a full series on creating the brand, website and brand guide for a food brand. You can check it out here: ruclips.net/video/5mjJadWuTZc/видео.html I hope that helps! Have a great day :)
Hi! The book I'm reading in is called "Logos" by Cruz Novillo and the ones on the table are part of a series from Counter print called "Logos from..." and they have logos from different countries or regions 😊 They are all really nice!
oof, i don't like tip no.3 it might make sense if the logo is used in print but for a website it would just double the work and asset management very cool tips otherwise
Yes you definitely need to consider the scope of the project to make sure you are not doing too much, and it can also depend on the logo how much of a difference it makes. I always try to add some buffer in my logo budgets to make sure I have the time to make edits like these if they benefit the brand but sometimes clients just don't have the budgets and you have to be careful with your time 😊 I'm happy you enjoyed the other tips! 🙌
OMG my mind is blown with all these super useful tips and tricks! I was doing things sooo inefficiently. Intertwine! Join! Pattern! Rotate!
I love when you find new and smart way to work! 🙌 So happy you enjoyed the video 😊
Some tips I knew, some I didn’t, some that made me think of possibilities. All were very useful, thank you!

Hi Kayla, I notice when I click on the link for the file explainer guide for Lucy Eden, the website has expired. Have you got another link for that?
Hi, sorry it is an external website so I can't affect if it changes. Let me know if you find a good alternative and I can exchange the link 🙌
How can I get lucy eden 'file types guide' book/pdf. Provided link doesn’t work.😢
Hi, sorry that is an external website so I can't control if it works or change. I hope you find a good solution 😊
