    A GREAT VIDEO AS SO MANY INSIST ON THOSE LATIN BEATS AND NEVER THINK OF POP OR EVEN STANDARD JAZZ. I PERSONALLY DON'T LIKE THOSE LATIN BEATS AS I HAVE BEEN PLAYING CONGAS FOR 55 YEARS AND NOT ONCE USED THEM IN ANY SONG. FOR ME IT'S WHAT SOUNDS GOOD FOR ANY SONG THAT NEEDS PERCUSSION.

    Thanks mate. Great video. Not many vids discuss this topic of fusion, particularly not with your insight. And thanks for all the links! Wasn't expecting that many. Gold. Liked your Bongo video too. I'm currently feeling my way from djembe to cajon, recently bongo, and considering congas. Being a white, suburban Australian and surrounded by same, I've not been sure where I could take all this. I'm more confident after this video. I think congas might be the most versatile of all these drums as far as jamming with pop. Anyway Im gonna chew through your videos. Thanks again.

    I hear congas in a lot of pop/rock songs.
    And I think you can fit a conga in any pop/rock songs.

      I'm planning on getting an LP compact conga for Christmas, and playing along to the music I listen to.

      Sounds awesome! I've always wanted to get a set of compact congas. They sound really good.

      About my original comment about hearing congas in any pop/rock songs, would that also apply to bongos? (hearing bongos in pop/rock songs)

      @@nbuehster Bongo fits in a lot of songs. One of my favorite pop/rock songs with bongo is Planet Caravan by Black Sabbath ... and there's some Beach Boys and Elvis songs that have bongo ... in some cases bongo is the only drum being played.

    I love that you show the more fluid pop-rhythm, and discuss the folkloric rhythms!

    Where do you find work?

    • @RhythmNotes
      @RhythmNotes  Год назад

      Work comes through fellow musicians and the occasional message on facebook from putting up content. Sometimes it's an email. Most of the time I get work from other musicians that end up on gigs. In other words, you have to be out in the world playing and online, to some degree.
