Hey there! I am currently in University studying to be a Speech Pathologist. I very much enjoyed your video, thank you for bravely sharing. I know it must have taken some nerve. Hoping you keep that drive inside of you alive - it is inspiring!

I have Asperger’s Syndrome and I struggle with word choice. I often struggle with the sounds of words being jumbled in my head and it comes out differently than what I actually want to say. I was in speech therapy until 4th grade and it helped tremendously. Also, good for you for being open and confident about your articulation disorder!! I am proud of you and keep making positive videos!!

I'm in college to become an SLP and I have to research articulation disorders from the patients p.o.v and will be using some of the things you said in this video such as how you feel/some difficulties you have been through. Thank you for sharing and you're not alone! You seem like such a strong person and I love your sense of humor :)

I had same problem like you ,when I was young i could not pronouns my name RUJUTA instead of that I was saying LUJUTA .My mother took lot of efforts on me to improve my speech .I start talking at a age of 3 and mispronouncing word R unit age of 10.Thank you for sharing video .I feel I am not only one person who could not speak R. On the daily basis my mother took efforts and she want me to recite Sanskrit (old India language ) versus, repeated R word many be 100 time until I pronouns correctly. All the best you need good training and proper strategy to improve the speech ....all the best Morgan.

Thank you for this. I have the same thing and it is hard to find any examples of adults who can't say R like me. It is hard for me to overstate how much this video validated my life experience that pretty much nobody understands. Thank you so much.

Thank you for sharing your story! Please share more! My son was diagnosed with articulation disorder and dyslexia. He is getting a lot of teenagers/adults asking his age and asking him why he speaks like a baby (video games people). It gets me so mad, but I must allow him to face his challenges alone but he knows this mama bear will say something to them! You are beautiful, smart, funny, charming girl! I think you speak very well! Again, thank you for this video!

You are right, there is little information about adults with communication disorders. I am thinking of using your video for illustrative purposes to help second language teachers to see each learner as an individual, with their own pattern of learning styles and challenges. Your video is informative and engaging. Thank you!

I love how confident you were making this video! For people with this disorder, it must be pretty hard to deal with not being able to pronounce words properly (especially if your bullied about it! Well done girl! Respect!
Also your dog is so adorable!

Thank you for posting this. My 14 year old stepson has an articulation disorder like this and he too has trouble pronouncing his own name.. and I feel it's just swept under the rug and never talked about and it breaks my heart.. I want to help him but I don't know how and I don't want to overstep either. It's helpful seeing someone else with the same thing..

I have this and I’m sixteen. I think I sound normal, but to everyone else I sound like a 3 year old (okay not really but I think you understand). Especially since I’m in high school I feel like everyone else are rude due to being teens, so I barely have friends since I’m too embarrassed to talk. Idk if you step son has the same problem of being embarrassed, but coming from a person who has some type of problem (idk what it is), I would say helping him get more confident is the most important.

We don't have *problems*, per-say, we are all just wired differently. You may have a higher proficiency at one thing compared a person that is able to more clearly articulate. For example, I have Narcolepsy (Excessive Daytime Sleepiness), I have acquired the discipline to maintain a strict sleep schedule, but I excel in spatial awareness and have since I can remember. Lastly, our weaknesses can become our greatest strengths.

I HAVE THIS PROBLEM. I sound normal to myself, put when I hear myself in videos I cringe. I say everything wrong, my voice is ugly, I hate it. I don’t speak in school, and i get so embarrassed cause to me, I sound normal.

its been a year why am i even writing this, i atleast wish i had your level of articulation to be fair, infact i dont even know whats up with the way i speak, if feels like i miss or misplace a lot of words that make me speak like i'm speaking a different language, i thing most of the people don't like me because of the that too like i don't really understand how to self-cure this whatever disorder i'm having, if you ever got a chance to see this *can you give me some methods they've taught you in speech therapy* i don't want to sound like a baby but it would be more than helpful if you can help me through this way. By the thank you for making this video, a lot of people are making/advicing for kids atleast i found some teen who has the same issue that i have... i hope you see this comment.
