We don't need more people like Cassie, we need Cassie to create her vision. We, as a society, need to invest on the creative force of unique perspectives.

You ARE unstoppable! Thank you for boiling it down to what the end goal really represents: making better decisions. This helps dull some of those shiny objects that distract leaders.

Decision science was one of the main disciplines at Concordia University’s Business School, now called the John Molson School of Businesses, from before 1993. I’m truly surprised by this thought piece. I think it should be more about decision science not being in vogue for a long time. Sadly, that lack of enthusiasm about decision science meant that these departments rebranded to more “modern” disciplines.

Where's the decision intelligence course you have made? I didn't find in your website, RUclips channel, LinkedIn?

Dear Cassie, first of all thank you very-very much for doing such an awesome job of founding and popularising the imho hugely important topic of decision science. I personally find the idea of teaching decision science literally from school very much appealing as it would be helpful to learn making good decisions as soon as possible. I really mean Decision Science and not Data Science as like in your analogy (the one instead of calculating N of rabbits in 5y) to make a rule to first of all ask the Why instead of the How. My deepest gratitude for the work you have already done and please keep rocking! Btw I have one question, are you planning to teach Decision Science in any (off/online) course/summer school/ bootcamp for experienced data scientists? Like people who have already worked with data but lack the capability of making decisions based on that data? I would gladly participate. Thank you very much in advance for your response : )

Thanks for a great video, Cassie. I always admire your immaculate pedagogy, be it a Coursera course or a youtube explainer. I'm curious if you've had any training in education. I'm certain being a thespian helps, ha!
Additionally, can you shine light on some representative open problems in decision intelligence and the motivations behind them? Coming from a math and physics background, I would love to get a handle on the fundamental motivations in this field.

Isn't business administration supposed to be what she said doesn't exist?

Around the moment 3:35, she says that the traditional definition of the "Decision Sciences" would include subjects like Economics, Psychology, Social and Managerial Sciences, but not Statistics, because in the 70s people wouldn't have to handle the amount of data we have today before making a decision.
Although nowadays most universities (at least where I live) include some math and statistics in their Business Administration course curriculum, the content of these subjects is usually introductory.
For example, while it is common that Economics courses here include subjects such as linear algebra, calculus, basic and advanced statistics, as well as introduction to programming (at good universities), Business Administration courses very often include only financial mathematics and descriptive statistics.
As far as I understood, what she intents to create is a mix of the traditional Decision Sciences (often taught in Business Administration courses) and Data Science.

@@ncmlo Some MBAs could specialize in data science and statistics. Historically those doing the math came from outside of BA.
Most high ranking managers do not have a BA background, maybe they should, not sure.
