WOW! Great tip about waiting 7 days to pin in order to get first attribution from Google images! I normally pin new images from freshly published posts right away. Good to know!
For the images used by very big magazines like Cosmo, I don't think it was necessarily vetted by their attorney as "you can do that", but more as a "your liabily per image in case of a lawsuit would probably be around $XXXX", and then it's just risk management. They just figure they're probably never gonna get sued for that, and even if they do, and if they lose, it's still gonna be profitable.
Jaume Ros, Julian Goldie, Charles Floate, Mushfiq Sarker, Jamie IF, Sasha Fournier, Ian Nuttall... They'd all bring something unique and interesting to the pod... Also, get Jacky Chou on and just talk about spamming the SERPs 🤣
After watching this, I feel like I've been using Pinterest with my eyes closed! 🙈From now on, it's no more pinning without a plan! Great interview, guys - looking forward to putting these tips into action.
I recommend any site using images taken by others (whether legally purchased or not) talk to a lawyer first. I follow DMCA standards and registered with Safe Harbor to avoid big copyright issues. By having a simple DMCA takedown process and complying with them, I'm able to make sure my site only has images that creators actually want on it. 99.99% do in my case. It's great exposure for them personally and professionally 👍
@@tonythill "I follow DMCA standards and registered with Safe Harbor to avoid big copyright issues" You can't avoid it. There is nothing that supersedes the laws in copyright infringement. Really interesting interview. I've used ads to test too to see quickly what of my pins people are interested in. Plus heard it can help organic reach too!
Yeah Google could pick up the image from Pinterest before it picks it up for my site. When that happens, my chances of ranking that image in Google images goes down. So that's why I wait and have Google find the image for the first time on my website👍
This is an interesting take. Great interview and I love the qualifications for people coming on to share what their results are after having to give proof.
Thanks! Fantastic and informative and helpful video. I'm so interested in the waiting because then Google images will index before Pinterest. Is this very important? I'd love to hear more.
Great interview, thanks for sharing! can you elaborate on the technical side? Are the photos in the carousel from multiple creators, and do you include links to their profiles within the carousel itself? Do your photos primarily feature people or just products? Considering liability, wouldn't featuring people be riskier?
One of my favorite episodes so far! Thanks so much, @tonythill Do you have any examples of similar sites that use a carousel like your own? I'd love to see some examples. Keen to implement something similar on my site :)
Awesome to hear! Yeah I know Good Housekeeping still has some pages that use a similar carousel for some of their older content that they keep updated though.
First off, this is a great interview, thank you for sharing! I'm on Pinterest so I find this conversation very interesting. Now in order to pin 40 - 80 pins per day on Pinterest, how many boards do you have that you pin on? Also how many blog posts do you have on this site to be able to pin this much? Thanks!
Tony mentioned in the video he'll have a new board for each article, and they're very specific on the target audience. Articles start with around 25 images and can grow to 100 after updating and adding to them. He only pins an image once, but with that many images per article, it's more than enough content for 40-80 pins daily. From Twitter, I recall him mentioning the site has got around 1800 articles (although that's off the top of my head and could be wrong).
@@DavidWoutersen that's great thank you! 1800 articles is a heck of a lot. He did say that he has about 40 writers on his team so your guess is probably not far off. Makes sense then that he can pin so much in a given day.

Interesting video guys. And thanks for sharing this. But I do feel like it's quite a scummy way of using other people's pictures for your own benefit. Just because you credit them, doesn't make it ok to take other people's images and just hope they don't find out. Another thing, using them on your website is 1 thing, but when people share them from your site to platforms like Pinterest, you get into a whole other legal situation. I'm not a lawyer nor expert on this, but I wouldn't be surprised if this ever comes back and haunt you. Especially since you're getting that much traffic.
I do affiliate marketing using Pinterest, about 50 posts a day, but as a photographer I've had issues with people taking my images and making money from them. Some pictures would be of my clients, who, although I don't need permission to, I ask them anyway to be respectful. When I find my photos of my clients on someone else site or social media platform, I lawyer up. I took the photos, edited the photos, and they are not for someone to just take for free so they can make money from them. Not selling a product using the image is not an excuse, it's a lame way to try and justify being lazy. If your site makes money and my images were part of that, I will take my cut from the money made. I will also inform my clients that their likeness is being used illegally giving them an opportunity to sue too.
Fantastic interview. I was curious about the Pinterest save button. Tony, is the one on your images always present or does it show up only when a user hovers over an image?
Yeah I don't know who made that up. I say test it yourself and see how many you can do each day before you start getting diminishing returns. In my opinion, Pinterest doesn't care how many pins you're pinning each day as long as you're pinning great images and linking them to a high quality and helpful page. FYI Pinterest spent the time and money to create a bulk upload tool. Which tells me they encourage lots of pins, as long as their users like them.

Invite Tanveer Nandla , Koray Tugburg and Luqman Khan
It's scam be awarw. Tony is just selling courses like many other gurus!!
Stay away!!
exactly ... another hungry money guru
however, say a small time blogger goes to do that with a huge celeb, we could get sued!?????
Can you please share his pinterest and website link?
Nope.
just a showbizz site
trying to understand why on earth someone would buy a course in these conditions of lack of transparency. I can show up now saying 'hey everyone, I'm making millions but i will keep my proof a secret because i need privacy, but take my word' that's hilarious hahaha
what is his site? is it a secret?
He's just luring. He's selling courses duhhh...

Are the Featured Images Also taken straight from InstaGram?
Yes 👍 Although I'm starting to experiment with AI for these because it's easier to get larger images at different aspect ratios.
@@tonythill Ok, I still dont quite get how it works or might be able to help my site, but I guess I understand the need to hide the site name , just frustrating...
@@tonythillhey Tony great chat. Can you provide the name of one of the big magazine sites or other sites that use the same technique. I know you mentioned it but don’t have time to go through and find that part again. Thanks mate
@@soniccynic4746cosmo
I see he mentioned cosmo, Birdy and glamour. But the sites I found don't show a carrocel with ads bellow. I am confused. Would you please send me a sample of page like that, even if not from the three sites above? Thank you
