    Sorry to hear about your mother's diagnosis, Drew. She raised a great son and no doubt your positive energy and support will bring great comfort to her during this time. We will pray for a strong recovery - like you said, she's a fighter!
    Thanks for always providing us with high quality gameplay. I know you mentioned you intend to grind some leaderboard, but I am wondering your thoughts on branching out to expansion gameplay like Cities and Knights.
    Be well

    I especially liked this video because I feel you explained a lot of strategic plays that may come a bit more naturally to you. I learned a lot in this video compared to others.
    Focusing on locking down your winning condition before attacking the opposite condition was something I realized I need to be a bit more intentional about. Taking the time to explain that was helpful.
    Also your take on early game getting a city vs pulling devs was an awesome tip. Focusing on pulling when you get an early mono is something that should be a bit intuitive, but is good to put into words. I will definitely be doing that in the future.
    Thanks for the tips! Great vid, sad I missed the stream but will tune in next time.

    Hey Dandy, my dad was diagnosed with cancer a couple years ago at the beginning of Covid. Its a scary thing. Fortunately after radiation and hormone therapy, the cancer has been kept at bay. Stay positive and stay strong. Sending you positive vibes, and as always, appreciate the work you put in for these videos. Truly a treasure for the Catan community.

    i like what you said in the end about great players never taking their foot off the gas. I think alot of mid-weaker players mess that up both ways. When they are winning or especially when they are losing they stop playing optimally. All the hardcore grinders really never give up ever in a game cause you never know what could happen

    Quality! I loved the vid and the message at the end. I'm a full time med student, but I always find time to watch a video of yours when they come out. Love the positivity and quality!

    29:00 black probably took the “any wood for trade black?” as a threat cuz you had two down devs meaning maybe a knight? I’m not sure, but anyway your 100% right, got to push the trades! Some times just by offering the same trade twice people accept it even without any talk 😅

    6:30 I like the 6,9,3 w,b,s point down - then the 3,4,11 w,b,w point left to get on the 8,4 ore.

    Sorry to hear about your mom, dandy. Rooting for her!
    Related to the game-- I actually kinda liked 8-5-10 wood sheep as first or second pick for the ports. Not saying it's the right pick, but I think it could make for a fun game. Although for good measure I just tried to calculate it out and I don't think you'd get a great spot for the second settlement :(. So yeah probably not too great but the idea of playing a fun wacky wood+sheep port game is always tempting

    I play a lot of casual tabletop catan with a couple of groups of friends, but most of the times we're three players. Do you have any high level strategy tips for that scenario?

    • @dandydrew
      @dandydrew  3 месяца назад +7

      It’s a good question since many in person tournament games could be 3 player. Usually because of the open space with 1 less player, 3 player games allow for wood and brick to be more useful since you can build to the extra production/space. Look for interesting expansion opportunities and keep your fundamentals intact. Good production, a clear win-condition path, and frequent trading will always be the strategic focus over everything else, regardless of player size.

    How are you recording on the iPad? I wanna upload and help add some volume to the catan videos. There aren’t a lot of them out there. I’m not looking to make it career.

    • @dandydrew
      @dandydrew  3 месяца назад +1

      I would do a search as you have to enable the record option but it’s quite simple once you get it activated. Only thing is that it will record your screen and you will have to use a 2nd program like OBS to record commentary over it. It would be much easier for new creators to use OBS on their desktop and record their games that way.

    Hey Dandy, just a quick question... Why would it even matter where you city? You are winning by flipping a knight anyway, right? Or is it cause you're scared of someone taking road away? But who would even be able to?

    • @dandydrew
      @dandydrew  3 месяца назад +2

      Yeah! I only win in that scenario as long as I hold road, which isn’t impossible with black’s rolls and potential brick trades with orange. Unlikely but still… Every move matters and you should never take the foot on the gas and just assume you have the win.

    you said you had won like 70% of the first 10 games and they only game you a 1481 starting elo. that's seems so low for that win percentage. I don't understand how they calculate those things. I only won 20% of my first 10 games and i got a 1433 starting elo.

    very lucky game not beein blocked and stole for the big early/mid game is bonkers. You were the sleeper in this game, no one considered you a threat until you became one. Also very lucky 2 roads and a mono is broken. Also the players were bad. You had that mono in hand for too long and they didn't pay too much atention to it.

    Dandy, your live games videos are way better.
    This pausing is way too slow waiting for you to read chat and explain a question that we’re not even reading or know the context.

      I like this format better as we get more thoughtful comments and explanations from Dandy.
      With the live games, half the comments are just "great roll", "bad roll".
