Does living in Greenland cause comfort addiction because how peaceful it is? When you grow older do you thinks you will live in cities or places like this?
Living in snow country in the U.S. Great Northwest is cold enough for me. I like my comforts way too much to even visit Greenland, but certainly enjoy seeing you, Erik, have an interesting and peaceful visit there. Looking forward to more episodes in Greenland and other remote spots if that's on your agenda for 2024.
Finally, dude. Please keep making more content like this - I follow you for your adventurous spirit and the drive to explore and and better yourself. Don't become a magazine cover. Don't be afraid to talk about what sucks, and what's really happening. This felt old-school in the best way.
I might have unsubscribed from your channel because you started posting JUST REAL ESTATE. Now, My man, this is who you were before. I love every bit of it. Keep this one coming.
Glad to see him getting back into travel vids. Real Estate is cool, next Million Dollar Listing dude blah-blah…yea i get it! But dudes travel content has been epic over the years!
Why has this only got 40k views? It's absolutely beautiful and fascinating. If i could afford it i would be there immediately. Its been my dream to visit Greenland since i was a kid
Oh my God, the scenery there is so beautiful and magnificent! Swimming in the ice sea, you are so brave, you look very handsome in that scene! I really don't understand why they choose to live there and make their lives harder! This episode saw you transition from a real estate manager to a tourist, which is so special! Love your changes, you did a really great job, thanks a lot for sharing! 👍😍👏
The universe chooses where most of us begin in life. In certain remote areas of this world where traditions are so engrained, leaving becomes less and less of an option
What an incredible opportunity. Thanks for sharing. I would never have known about this place, the dogs, the housing and what it means to live in a place like this. It has so much uniqueness both beautiful and challenging. Honestly soo much more interesting than a building with 50+ floors. I appreciate the 'behind the scenes' and that you pushed your levels of comfort.
Wow, Greenland is gorgeous. These adventurous videos are awesome Erik! I was supper stoked to see you upload this one. I'm looking forward to more of this series as you share with us the diverse living elements the world has to offer!
"Waking up and seeing 200ft tall icebergs outside your window" man that is spectacular. And totally, humans are crazy adaptable. I find it so interesting.
I also live in a small village, not in Greenland though. I also love the peace and quite 2:17 in the video. Most of the time I wake up to complete silence, when in winter, it gets quite cold. There is complete silence for multiple hours, sometimes even multiple days no birds, nothing. My village has ~25 people living. The village size is roughly in a 1km radius (obviously not a perfect circle). The thing is other villages are close by (~2-3km's away) and are a lot bigger, where as here this is the last point of civilization, beyond, the conditions are too harsh. Incredible experience and video. Awesome job. ;)
I’m so happy to see people are getting more interested in my country. I wish I have the opportunity to tell more about my history and my background. I just don’t have any idea how to do it or where to start
Top notch travel vlog, I'm making this my new "goals" video. You really get a sense of the local culture and lifestyle beyond what you'd expect as a tourist.
Its a shame this video doesn’t have more views. This was such an interesting video to watch. I would love to see more content like this over luxury apartments and homes. Thanks for sharing Erik!
I'm one of your OG followers, think I was one of your first 500 subbies ❤ Im loving your current content but do you plan on ever vlogging again? Your vlogs teamed with the old school jazz 🎷 you use to request from composers was immaculate! I miss your older content so much and more sad they're no longer on your channel.
Hi! Just wanted to say hello to a fellow OG... I started watching Erik when he'd only been doing it for about 6 months, I guess? Think he had ~5000 subs when I got in. I was a huge fan of his personal story telling in those early days, I remember thinking: phooph!, this guy is so gifted, and talented, and insightful- he'll go far in life! It's cool that after so many years, he's still a part of this platform, sharing different things, so we're able to keep up with him in some form. I personally vibed way more with his more intimate storytelling than the luxury real estate stuff, but it's always great every once in a while he'll give us something like this! I also feel like the older, original viewership is a kind of family. We share the same love of and camaraderie from those early videos. Take care, nice to see you here.
13:20 Man just referred to something from the early 2000's as classic. I feel old now. Phenomenal video! I miss this kind of content from you. Glad it was a good trip.
There is a US Air Force base in Greenland much further north. My father went there a lot in the 70s and 80s for work, ate whale blubber with the locals, almost died when he got caught out in a storm with a friend, pretty place but very inhospitable.
Pituffik Space Base, formerly Thule Air Base. Much further north yes, with very severe storms indeed. If your father enjoyed the time up here back then, he would physically revolt by the neglect of the base. Not much has improved in the timespan since then. Of course we have internet, which allowed me to watch this 16 minute video in 144 p over the course of half an hour!
15:19 lol you can call a cell phone from a LAN line too 💕 But my bet is that they are on what’s called a party line, where they all share a phone line or a few phone lines.
I’ve been living in Greenland for 8 months now and I’ve lived all my life in a tropical country. I was anxious that I would find it difficult to adjust to a harsh Arctic climate but I was surprised. My body adapted quickly and was well received by the warmth of the people here. You just need to listen to them when they talk in their language. Hope you had an amazing time in Saqqaq and Greenland and please visit again in the future! 🙌
Regarding the toilet smell there are solutions to that. You can buy some liquids that you pour into the toilet that remove most if not all of the smell. So you don't have to smell shit everytime you go to the toilet

Harsh life, in a harsh environment, but surrounded by helpful and caring people, is, indeed, spiritually strengthening experience.
You just romanticize it, Greenland has one of the highest rates of unliving themselves.
