I use 430 F, with 40/60. If brass is clean and flux is used It only takes 2 second. To much heat could heat other already soldered areas and mess up your build in my experience. Jorge is the master though. Obviously if using silver solder higher temp would probably be needed

How hot is your soldering iron--600, 700 degrees?

Mark, Iron is at 650 degrees when I solder.
