The point is that Da'at is a post-apocalyptic world, where dog-eats-dog is the rule of the day and demons (ex-gods), legendary creatures and lesser minions of different origins/beliefs are hodge-podge'd all inside it. For Fionn, fighting is a matter of principle and honourability, and you just happen to cross his way.

Sheesh, even with all that tricks, CoV doesn't fix most of the story.
The story of SMT5 is so basic and bad, it can't be fixed. IMO.
