You mention that he voted against gay marriage. That's not even the worst part. His DAD is gay. He voted against the right for his own father to get married.
Can you be more specific? Because gay marriage came to Canada via a Supreme Court of Canada ruling. It wasn't legislated.
His dad did a poop job at raising him to be honest!
@@mikearchibald744 in 2006 conservative introduced a motion to, "restore the traditional definition of marriage" but their motion was defeated with all other major parties, including Liberal, NDP, and Bloc voting against the conservative motion.
The conservative had a minority government at the time, so they needed the support of at least one other party to pass this motion. This highlights the importance of making sure conservative do not get a majority government if you're someone who's concerned about these rights.
@@thyruos6499 Uh, no, i certainly am all for gay marriage, but the supreme court had already legalized it. NO government can take that away.
You'll remember they had a MAJORITY after that. The reason why they did it as a minority was pure politics for their members who likely had no idea.
Its the same reason Pollievre said that 'only girls should use girls bathrooms'. It was to appease his base. The fact is the Supreme court has already ruled that if you identify as a trans woman, you use a womans bathroom if you want.
And even those cases of pronouns in schools are in education and so have zero to do with Pollievre.
Thats not to say I don't worry about rights with the conservatives. But not nearly as much as some because the fact is the liberals are no great saviours of the constitution. Even in the case of British Columbia and drug legalization all he can say is what they SHOULD do. Fact is that when cannabis was legalized, groups went to Trudeau to decrminalize other drugs and Trudeau said 'not going to happen'. But the federal government now has limited power over the matter thanks to the courts.
Pollievres job is clearly to do as much to aide the oil industry as possible. The GOOD side of that is that I tell his followers to be prepared to be disappointed. I mean, where the hell is he going to get funding for nuclear research if there is no carbon tax?
Anyway, the one thing I do fear is that guns will be an awful lot easier to get. The guy is clearly in the pocket of the NRA.
@@mikearchibald744 yes, the increase in gun violence is definitely a concern for me too. I hope we never see the same type of school shootings as they have in the US.
On to the issue of same sex marriage, the Supreme Court said that the federal government had no say in provinces choosing to legalize civil unions, which have all the same legal protection as marriages. The only difference between marriage and civil union is that marriage is under federal jurisdiction and must be recognized nation-wide when legislation is enacted, while civil unions are provincial.
The federal government can limit the definition of marriage at any time at the federal level, as conservatives wanted to do after Paul Martin's government legislated marriage as a right at the federal level, they just can't stop Provinces from legislating on civil unions.
Stephen Harper knew this was unpopular among swing voters so he promised not to revisit the issue even if he were to win the majority in the next election to make his party more appealing to those voters, which is why they didn't make another motion.
If the federal government changes the definition of marriage, and your province doesn't have civil unions, you would have to get married in another province.

The "defenders of the working class" are in a tizzy over an estate-tax hike that would only effect the wealthiest 0.13% in the country. Let that sink in for a second.
If I was one of the 0.13% that already pay a tax on capital gains and they hiked it even further. I'd be looking for ways to cut back and save money, which means less raises, less investment and a scale down of business and if I feel business could be better else where like the USA with lower taxes, I'll pack up and leave and move all assets to a new place that encourages enterprise and competitiveness. When PP was Housing Minister in the 2015 Harper gov't, he only even SAID the word "housing" ONCE in the House of Commons. Under his watch, the gov't built ZERO new apartments, ZERO new housing co-op's, and built only SIX affordable housing units in all of Canada. He cut 97% off the federal affordable housing initiative to reduce it from $452 million to just $16 million, and as a result, the Canadian private sector built fewer new homes than any year under Trudeau. Now he plans to repeat history and make those cuts again to the Liberal's affordable housing initiative from $6 Billion to just $100 Million. He told reporters that "Gov't should get out of the home building business and sell all federal buildings and land to developers." He plans to create a complaints dept for residents if someone tries to build affordable housing in their neighbourhood. He plans to reinstate GST on new apartments. He has NO PLAN to help students, seniors, workers, the most vulnerable, or anyone else own their home. Instead he belittles the starter homes of hard working Canadians as "tiny little shacks." Pierre doesn't care about people. Pierre doesn't care about communities. Pierre doesn't care about affordable homes. His favourite book is Milton Friedman's - Capitalism and Freedom. The book argues that free markets and minimal government intervention are essential for economic growth and individual freedom. Where has this thought process gotten us so far? If you listen to what he says, he basically wants to do this as PM
AKA trickle down economics, which has failed since it was called "laissez-faire" economics back in 17th century France. It led to a famine then, because the rich merchants sold agricultural goods for more money abroad and the local workers went hungry. Same thing happened in Ireland in the 1840s. Then it became Reagonimics in the 1980s and the working and middle class are still losing ground because of it.

If Pierre was anti elite he would put forward a motion reversing the harper government decision to remove the pervote subsidy parties used to recieve (that was one dollar a year of your tax dollars to the party YOU voted for) and putting caps back on corporate/individuals sponsorships. Thanks David, we need to fight them instead of rolling over and letting them win . His smug incompetence is met with a lot of silence. So undecided voters tired of Trudeau aren't clear about who he is, and think he's just another harmless interchangeable politician.

LOL. That is classic.
What exactly is he carrying?? first he screws up the immigration file, then the housing file after bringing more people we can house, employ or have basic healthcare for... enjoy your tent... and yes we need immigration, but also a better system for skilled immigrants to use those skills and at a rate where they (and current citizens) don't end up on the streets or packed like rats while working 2 or 3 jobs

Trudeau a real genius. Almost shameful how ignorant you people are.
It’s shameful that anyone voted Liberal, you people should be deported.

Guys a breath of fresh air as compared to the OTHER guy
What a dunk from Sean Fraser! Honestly fools will believe what PP has to say and vote for him because of Trudeau Fatigue. We're going to be for a rough ride when he becomes Prime Minister.
It's an embarrassment that so many Canadians really think P.P. is a solution to Trudeau Fatigue. It's like somebody cloned Trudeau and gave him Ben Shapiro's voice & Trump's demagogic behaviour.
I've had Trudeau fatigue since 2017 or Earlier.
Not once have I voted conservative.
Like doel, I vote ndp or green, or even independent.
Did you not realize we have FIVE parties in parliament???
So true. Our national parties have a long history of leaders overstaying their welcome. It's not quite as bad as what's happening in the USA right now, but it's still pretty bad. Our system is technically built so parties can yank a leader off stage when the time comes (because most leaders won't give it up voluntarily) but it is increasingly rare.
@@ahealthkit2745 Ask them what policies of PP they like and they will either malfunction or admit they don't know any just like Pierre.

The electricity comment is unreal. I have known since I was a child how electricity is created. Great guy to have as a PM, sounds like Trump with his use bleach to get rid of Covid. 😜
More proof that our educational system is a joke lolz.
Really, how to you create it?
Don't stop showing some light on Pierre Pollyana. He's riding an anti Trudeau wave.
It's so frustrating that so many Canadians are willing to vote for him just because he isn't Trudeau, without taking five minutes to educate themselves on PP's track record, which makes it plain that he will only make things worse. Don't like housing prices and corporations gouging you with price hikes? Then PP is the LAST person you should vote for.
@@henrywestbrook9773literally how trump got elected
I'm still waiting to hear what PeePee & the Conservatives propose for a green house gas emission reduction plan? The existing carbon tax does go a long way to giving a good balance of reductions & lessening impact on economy at same time.
No need to rag on Pollyanna though, it’s a very beautiful song🌍✨💫
Trudeau SUNAMI is more like it
We're heading toward another Great Depression because of greed by corporations & people cant afford housing.
Let's just cut to the chase: Problems all stem from capitalism. The mechanics of capitalism screw the worker and enrich the ownership elite class over and over again. Until we start changing the system, with cooperation from our communities, we are not going to see much improvement - but we also can learn not to make things worse by voting regressive Conservatives.
Prescription for positive change proposal:
1) Watch Zeitgeist: Requiem by Peter Joseph (and his other stuff like Culture in Decline)
2) Get the Moneyless Society podcast (Noam Chomsky recently interviewed!)
3) Check out Doughnut Economics by Kate Raworth for the 21st Century
4) Check out One Small Town organization and "Ubuntu Contributionism' by Michael Tellinger
See where those paths take you.
That's a direct result of Pierre's non-work as Housing Minister. Trudeau is a Liberal elitist, but at least he recognizes a problem and is trying to solve it. He's trying to clean up the mess that real estate goons like PP have caused by engaging in speculation. Liberals aren't guiltless, but it was Harper and Poilierve's refusal to help anyone but filthy rich Canadians that birthed the housing crisis.
Both of those are market forces, and yet we have apopulation whose real fear is government.
Conservatives always confuse freedom with free dumb! Yet, some people are so clueless that they, for some reason, continue voting for Conservatives ?
Those people wear yellow vests, have two Canadian flags on their cars(a full year after it was a thing), and claim they are not free in one of the top places to live in the world. But without them, and Leslyn Lewis's religious nut faction, they would not even come close in an election. I for one, like the whole Lib/Ndp coalition thing.
Yeah, I really wish I understood the working class Conservative voter. Like they don't understand how much they shoot themselves in the foot by voting for Con policies that favour the corporation's profits and screw the working class more?
Oh gosh, I never thought of that. Thank you for your insight. I will change how I vote now.
Voting conservative is the only way to get the country back
Tell me about it, alberta voted for Smith.
it's rather depressing that so many Canadians have fallen for this grifting-exercise that the CPC is conducting....I used to think Canadians were better than our southern-neighbors when it came to navigating partisan-politics & sniffing-out crook politicians, but not anymore
We have come to a point in our world where the stupid have out numbered the smart. It's going to be total chaos. Buckle up
no one is immune to rhetoric and everyone is susceptible to repetition fatigue.
In the last year I’ve fully accepted that this guy will be out PM in 2025…Once campaigning officially kicks off it will be the 2016 style nonsense including those who want Trudeau out, those who think it’s “funny”, those who won’t vote either way, etc. And of course, owning the libs. We really aren’t different from Americans, just usually a decade behind
I blame social media and the pandemic
Most Canadians are not right-wing, but our terrible voting system gives them a leg up. We had almost ten years of Stephen Harper who intentionally weakened 150 year old clean water protections, science research, the census and Canada Post, and showed great hostility toward refugees and First Nations, while 60 +% of people all voted for more progressive parties. Every time so far that we've tried to change our voting system, it's been thwarted. 20 some years of it. Even JT's dad said it needed to be replaced like 50 years ago.
Look at the uk and never, ever vote conservative unless you are a multimillionaire

You've got to hustle on social media to get these viewpoints out and seen because Poilierve has Conrad Black on his side. He has dedicated his media empire to help get Poilievre elected.
Fraser should replace Trudeau as Liberal leader.

The only power that comes from the sky is solar & wind. NOT Lightning. The only person harnessing lightning is Doc Brown.

Most of the provinces and municipalities sold off much of their public housing, too. I wonder why, when so many politicians invest in housing. 🤔
It's almost like they're directly profiting off of human suffering, or something.
Well, yes. It's the libertarian way as dictated by the Fraser Institute funded by American billionaires who want to work the peasants to death. Privatize everything so that they can pay people less and charge them more for necessities of life.
Pollievre and his wife are LITERAL landlords.
I see Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Poilevre being a perfect match. Both seem a bit delusional.
So does he think storks bring babies?
that electrician bit is just weird! lol what a tool!
Trudeau holding a hammer?
You can even hear it in his voice when speaks "The welder fuses metal together". Feels like some description from Websters. I also find it funny how they have now tried to paint him as the working class guy who understands them and how to be tough. If you took him out into the forest, his odds of survival are very small, especially when he is crying from the dirt he got under his finger nails, unlike Trudeau who weirdly would do quite well in the forest because he was brought up with outdoor skills including hunting.
What's your job? Oh I see, writing a post people stop reading. Boring
If I had known electricians were really wizards capturing lightning from the sky, I would have gone to trade school instead of wasting time playing a wizard in a weekly D&D campaign in university.

I'd agree about what he was saying trying to people that it's not what he meant but if Trudeau said it then douchivere would non stop talk about how Trudeau doesn't know working people

Pierre Poilievre is a Career Politician who hasn't worked outside of Government for his entire adult life, the very people that conservatives say they are against.
Exactly! He'll cut every bit of social spending and public money EXCEPT his MP salaries and benefits. He truly is a Con-artist. His BS doesn't work on critical thinkers and progressives, but I shudder to think how many Canadians just get scared by his words because they don't do enough research to find out Pierre's anti-worker past so they'll still give him power, and regret it later.

Get rid of Trudeau and get that guy in as leader, Libs might have a fighting chance
What blew my mind is when he said something to the effect of knowing what it is like to struggle growing up working class in Calgary. I looked it up and both his parents were employed full time teachers; when I reverse calculated a household income of two teachers in the 1980s I got a number closer to Upper Class than Working Class. Working Class in Canada makes up about 34% of the population, Middle Class is about 58%; His reality only reflects about 10% of Canadians. To borrow a phrase from Australia; the man is a Muppet and he has no idea what it takes to go from Poverty to Working to Middle Classes.
