Although the final is the best..but this world cup upto that point didn't had the vibe of a World cup.Hardly any buzz. 2003, 2007,2011 and 2015 wc's had that vibe . 2019 and 2023 were dissapointing in that aspect tbh.

NZ always have had the opportunities. They have made it to more finals of late and pretty much close enough to Australia (based on resources, location, competitiveness). Yet they still haven't turned the corner every time they face their "big brother". So there lies a REAL problem.

Indians have this soft corner for NZ and hate for England everyone in the world knows that. The sheer hypocrisy is that it was BCCI who applied first in IPL and in ICC they have the biggest say. BCCI runs the show and everyone knows that. And not a single captain raised their voice about these rules and they already knew about it. Only when the rule got triggered, it was a dagger in the heart of the Indians who by the way dominate the social media in the world of cricket. Where were they when this rule was being applied? BCCI have brought this game to floor and now Indians are blaming ICC and England 😂😅

NZ had ample opportunity to score boundaries but didn’t, I mean just look at the bourgeois count England scored 50% more than NZ did during the match.
NZ also had the advantage going into the super over batting second and therefore knowing what score they needed to get and still couldn’t win.
Archer even gave you a one run head start bowling a NB/Wide off his first ball and you still couldn’t get the job done.
That’s just how it goes some days.

Being here in India, I watched the 2019 ODI WC final at midnight hoping NZ would win it. Even being a spectator and supporter it hurt me so much and it is very hard for me to swallow till now that they are not the winner of that WC. Seeing Kane giving his best irrespective of all the challenges, injuries he has come across till now is always motivational to me. Kane has never failed to bring a smile on my face. Resurrection under their beloved Dada, beating invincible Aussies at home under rather exceptional circumstances, winning Natwest finals against all odds. It all boosted their wait for the WC. 03 world cup was great but it wasn't better than 99 from a neutral lens.
