I have had one of those knives for several years and am very happy with it. Mine had a black coating that I sanded off down to bare metal. I then used a Dremel tool to make a 90 degree spine with an edge sharp enough to throw really good sparks. I made a pouch style leather form-fitted sheath for it with not only a belt loop but also a dangler system that double snaps over my belt. It is always with me when I'm in the woods, canoeing or hunting. Semper Fi, brother.
I have had mine three years or so and it's my go-to knife. The lanyard hole is also a bullet puller for .22/.223/5.56 to allow access to gun powder for fire making. I had to round out the jimping as it is aggressive, and you can strike a fero rod on the spine near the tip. I love it. Thanks for showing it.
Hey Black Scout, I have had the black BOB for almost a year and love it. One tip though, you can you the back of the knife tip for fire starting as well. It showers sparks with no problem. I changed out the mag bar that came with it but overall it works like a champ.
What I like about you videos, is not just the content or the approach, but your comfort of use with everything you use. You can clearly see you know your stuff which gives me a lot more confidence as a novice learner. Appreciate what you do. Next step, time to learn Instagram! Lol
I've got one of those on loan. It's not a bad knife but it doesn't really stand out for me. I've tested it against a Terava Jaakarripuukko and there Puukko just trounces it in hand feel and cutting ability.
A very great knife indeed for survival in the jungle! I just started hiking 3 months ago and I've learnt a lot about survival from this channel and that knife is sure one of my must have knife!
From your messages on facebook to your videos glad 2 years later you are making success. Love Tops because of your videos. On Point Tactical was the first. Waiting on the Bob Folder to be in my budget. On point, already EDC. With a custom shealth setup.
I have a cup shaped rock for a base. Found it in Korean pea-sized gravel bed on the way into work. Will work on board and drill next. I hope my Kukri works for cutting out pieces of limb. Great videos tho all around topics.
I know this video is very old and you will likely never read this, but omg thank you! Sooo much for holding the knife properly when using the firesteel notch. I watch many videos on this knife and everyone was holding it like as if they had never held a knife or used a striker before. I was absolutely dumbfounded. And im not talking gear channel noobs either. People that have been doing this for years and years.. i seriously couldn't believe it.
Hello. I think it has a good design, the length, width and thickness of the blade are suitable, the material of the handle is very good. Perhaps the only weak point is that it is made of simple carbon steel and is not resistant to rust and oxidation.
I do believe if you payed $180 you have yourself the 154CM steel version as the 1095 runs about $120. great knife either way. i have the early 1095 version.
This is one of my Favorite designs Tops has done including the Silent Hero. Awesome that you are actually giving us a chance to win this knife in a better color combination IMHO. I give you much respect on being able to Give this knife away, it would be very hard to let go of this nice of a knife! Already posted and tagged you and four other friends on Instagram.Merry Christmas and God bless to you and yours!!!
