Awsome! «As from time immemorial, so too in the future, it is necessary to maintain the principle that “each particular Church must be in accord with the universal Church not only regarding the doctrine of the faith and sacramental signs, but also as to the usages universally received from apostolic and unbroken tradition. These are to be observed [so that]... the faith may be handed on in its integrity, since the Church’s rule of prayer (lex orandi) corresponds to her rule of faith (lex credendi).”
... It is well known that in every century of the Christian era the Church’s Latin liturgy in its various forms has inspired countless saints in their spiritual life, confirmed many peoples in the virtue of religion and enriched their devotion.» Summorum Pontificum.

Please my you 3xplain the lighting of the candles at advent up-to Xmas and what the means. Recently I noticed that the Jewish hannukkah almost coincides with Xmas. Also, during hannukah there is lighting of about 8 candles. I find this incredibly astonishing. Could Xmas be related to the celebration of hannukkah, and how or why?

    • @foolfether
      @foolfether Год назад

the maccabean revolt defeated their greek enemies and cleansed the temple from their pagan worship. (that much is historic; the next is legend.) when they lighted up the menorah, they didn't have enough oil to sustain it, but by a miracle it lasted eight days. that's why in hanukah the menorah has eight branches instead of seven.
now, about christmas a lot it's said. but the truth is that it's a mix of practices unrelated to Jesus birth. because we can pinpoint Jesus brithday by the pinpointing the priestly service of Jesus' uncle Zechariah and adding the differences in age between John and Jesus. that way we know that Jesus was born in the seventh hebrew month, which is september-october, and by symbolism of the season, most likely in the feast of Sukkot.
so hanukah, christmas and Jesus' birth are not that related.

@@foolfether Christmas and Jesus' birth are related. Many Church fathers thought that the incarnation occured at the same time as the crucifixition. About Mar 25th add 9 months and that is how we got Dec 25.

@@julieevanish3601 abiah had the 8th turn. the beginning of the year was the month of aviv. so zechariah served the week previous to pentecost. if zechariah impregnated his wife immediately after, john would have been born january-february, and Jesus june-july. this is not appointed times-relevant. but if he waited a couple of months, john would have been born about passover, and Jesus about sukkot. this makes more appointed times-sense, because the ruling constellation during sukkot is virgo, the virgin, the sign john the revelator saw in the heavens: a woman clothed with the sun, the moon under her feet and crown of stars delivering the Messiah.

Man is created to praise, reverence, and serve God our Lord, and by this means to save his soul.
And the other things on the face of the earth are created for man and that they may help him in prosecuting the end for which he is created.
From this it follows that man is to use them as much as they help him on to his end, and ought to rid himself of them so far as they hinder him as to it.
For this it is necessary to make ourselves indifferent to all created things in all that is allowed to the choice of our free will and is not prohibited to it; so that, on our part, we want not health rather than sickness, riches rather than poverty, honor rather than dishonor, long rather than short life, and so in all the rest; desiring and choosing only what is most conducive for us to the end for which we are created..
The Catechism of the Catholic Church(CCC), quoting Vatican II, says the following: “God willed that man should be ‘left in the hand of his own counsel,’ so that he might of his own accord seek his Creator and freely attain his full and blessed perfection by cleaving to him.” (1730) God doesn’t force us to seek and love him; it is something that he has left us free to do..
The word pray is Old English which means "to ask". If you can ask your boss for a raise, and talk to your guardian angels....how much more beneficial it would be to ask the saints in heaven and Mary and Jesus for their prayers and intercession.
Jesus came to heal the wound of original sin - death.

Eternal Father, I offer You the most Precious Blood of Your Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for all sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal Church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Divine Mercy Chaplet
x1 : Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.
x10 : For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
OUR LORD’S PROMISES ATTACHED TO THE PRAYING OF THE CHAPLET OF DIVINE MERCY AS REVEALED TO ST. FAUSTINA KOWALSKA
    1. “I promise that the soul that will venerate this image (of Divine Mercy) will not perish. I also promise victory over (its) enemies already here on earth, especially at the hour of death. I Myself will defend it as My own glory.” (Diary, 48)
    2. “The souls that say this chaplet will be embraced by My mercy during their lifetime and especially at the hour of their death.” (Diary, 754)
    3. “When hardened sinners say it, I will fill their souls with peace, and the hour of their death will be a happy one.” (Diary, 1541)
    4. “When they say this chaplet in the presence of the dying, I will stand between My Father and the dying person, not as a just Judge but as a merciful Savior.” (Diary, 1541)
    5. “Whoever will recite it will receive great mercy at the hour of death.” (Diary, 687)
    6. “Priests will recommend it to sinners as their last hope of salvation. Even if there were a sinner most hardened, if he were to recite this chaplet only once, he would receive grace from My infinite mercy…I desire to grant unimaginable graces to those souls who trust in My mercy.” (Diary, 687)
    7. “To priests who proclaim and extol My mercy, I will give wondrous power; I will anoint their words and touch the hearts of those to whom they will speak.” (Diary, 1521)
    8. “The prayer most pleasing to Me is prayer for the conversion for sinners. Know, my daughter, that this prayer is always heard and answered.” (Diary, 1397)
    9. “At three o’clock, implore My mercy, especially for sinners; and, if only for a brief moment, immerse yourself in My Passion, particularly in My abandonment at the moment of agony…I will refuse nothing to the soul that makes a request of Me in virtue of My Passion.” (Diary, 1320; also, cf. Diary, 1572)
    10. “Souls who spread the honor of My mercy…at the hour of death I will not be a Judge for them, but the Merciful Savior.” (Diary, 1075)
    11. “The two rays denote Blood and Water…These two rays issued from the very depths of My tender mercy when My agonized Heart was opened by a lance on the Cross. These rays shield souls from the wrath of My Father…I desire that the first Sunday after Easter be the Feast of Mercy…whoever approaches the Fount of Life on this day will be granted complete remission of sins and punishment. Mankind will not have peace until it turns with trust to My mercy.” (Diary, 299-300)
    12. “I desire that the Feast of Mercy…be solemnly celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter…The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion (in a state of grace on this day) shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment.” (Diary, 699)
    13. “Through this chaplet you will obtain everything, if what you ask for is compatible with My will.” (Diary, 1731)
    14. “My mercy is greater than your sins and those of the entire world.” (Diary, 1485)

Thank you for your insights into the scriptures that show that Jesus Christ was actually the fulfillment of the words of the prophets. It gives me hope in their prophecies that predict his return and a more peaceful world. You are a wonderful teacher and an inspiration. Thank you for posting the summary notes of your outline.
