On part of the trucker, I get him not letting Kevin & Lindsey go, because they said they were kidnapped by Nick earlier. Now suddenly they wanna stay with him. As dark as it is, he may be thinking Nick groomed them or did questionable stuff that now has them wanting to stay. Looking at his face, the trucker looks horrified when they're telling him they wanna go back to Nick.
To be fair, he did use them in the beginning just to get to Susanne and was perfectly clear on his hatred towards kids. The sight of children literally made him cringe like they were a disease. Sure they were messed up and wrong for going after all those other men, but they were kinda right about him in the beginning before he evolved with care for them
The name of the song that you also love and was dancing to that started playing at the beginning of the movie is another great classic song by The Iconic,Legendary,And The Late Great Prince & The Revolution called I Wanna Be Your Lover. And by the way,the sequel/part two(2) movie of Are We There Yet? is called Are We Done Yet? and you can also check that one out too whenever you can.

Steam does actually works because it opens our longs up. But now I am thinking about it and just thought about it... even if they used steam and never gotten that refill and kevin had an asthma attack he would've die in the movie. I just realized that the airport announcer saying "The Friend Zone is for losers only" was just in Nick's head as he was friend zoned by Suzanne the previous day.
I get that this movie does kinda over exaggerate the kids behavior but, kids that are in this situation will act out in the most craziest of ways, behavior all over the place, doing things that they would never do before, it's insane how much this kind of situation can affect a kid
