Blizzard had a literal golden goose. Overwatch had one of the best multiplayer launches of all time. Sometimes I wonder if OW would still be thriving if Riot was in control, because Blizzard is honestly just clueless.

@@portascar7996 On a free game. OW is paid so it has a lot less leniency. But in terms of content and balance patches, Riot is absolutely better than Blizzard.

i honestly think this game is gonna be a lot better than most are making it out to be, the whole point of blizzard having the pros play is to hear their feedback and i think theyre gonna make a lot of changes from what we saw before the main game comes out

@Jmt1000 the pros only said it felt more like a “deathmatch”. Not that it was a deathmatch. Im still optimistic, mostly because I love co-op and if thats fun then I’ll buy overwatch 2. Simple as that. Blizzard can be pretty good at single player campaigns, and the development team is pretty good. Balance wise, yea they make questionable decisions. But the actual mechanics of Overwatch have almost never been broken these last 4-5 years

There’s a shit ton of first person shooters that rely on mechanical skill. Not a ton of first person shooters based purely on strategy and team work. They should have stayed in their lane

Yeah mechanical skill is overrated. There are a lot of characters like Mercy that ppl hate on but in reality she takes lot of game sense and strategic movement and superjumps or else she is gonna die pretty easy in my experience.

If 5v5 just wasn’t a thing:
-People would not get upset at the radical changes;
-We would have gotten the game probably this year;
-They could have focussed on making new characters, instead of revamping old ones to fit into 5v5;
-They could have put more time into reworking characters that actually need reworks;
-Making the campaign better;
-Not ruining the og overwatch experience;
-Not wasting time.
People wouldn't get upset at the radical changes but also everyone would've been mad that's it's just overwatch 1:2

Maybe the solution would be to make the OW2 changes optional, that way if you don't like the new game you still have the old one.
Sure, but it would be the same game. Double shield would still be oppressive, tanks would carry way too much, and DPS queues would continue to be god awful. The work they've put into the game so far is to create a new game, because the campaign isn't going to keep people playing for years. Personally, I'm super excited about the campaign, but I know plenty of people that only care about PVP. And PVP will 1) keep the game played for years, and 2) keep OWL alive. OW needed drastic change, but all we can do is hope the dev team will take the pros feedback and modify it from there.
@@kitsie_ tanks are not oppressive at all at the moment (we are in a dps meta at the moment), maybe double shield is slightly too good at the moment but we have seen rush go to the finals this season, I repeat, RUSH. The game is in the best patch it has ever been, you can basically play whatever except bastion, if only we got new heroes and new maps, the game would feel fresh as hell let me tell you. Priority queue is fantastic, just play a couple of flex games at the start of the week and you can play dps the rest of it without any long queue, if you are in high ranks like master and gm, it’s not the game’s fault if there are only a small amount of players.

Double shield got nerfed pretty heavily when they nerfed shields. Now a junkrat and at most a hanzo as well can destroy 2 shields easily enough. You can swap out either of them for Roadhog as well.
I'd rather have long ques than a bad game. At the end of the day you can just duo with a tank or play Open Que.

God I hope they’re not fucking up BAD with OW2. It was and is loved as a team-ability centric game, I think the closer to cod it gets, the more generic and the less life span it’ll have. They release a cod every year. The ow devs would never be able to keep on that

I don’t know how it’s going to turn out but the way I look at it ... back when blizzard wasn’t knee deep in s^^^ overwatch turned out like this (especially update / content wise) , so with their situation now it would really be interesting to see how that game turns out

It's the same exact problem here. Why is Blizzard catering to action FPS players? The people complaining that "I don't play OW, it's not fast paced enough/isn't an FPS/don't like the team dynamics" are people who already get their fill of Call of Duty. Maybe they'll play for a little bit, then they'll go right back to Call of Duty, leaving OW2 in a state where neither the original fans nor CoD players are satisfied with the game and it dries up and dies.

Way too slow, bunch of heroes weren't finished reworking, new heros not finished, I still doubt if it even will be released on time.
How are you not disappointed now? your game was abandoned so that the devs could work on another product, it's been forever and they haven't even produced that product. Given that it's a sequel you should be coming into it with the expectation that you may not even become a player of OW2. Or if it's not a sequel, it's just the trashest never coming balance patch that you've never seen.

It is because of HOTS. It failed, so they are moving away from heavily team based gameplay.
It came from making the game Competitive. In order to do so, aim skill has to pay off more than game sense and ability usage, so every balance patch got closer to a pure shooter. Characters that got value without aim were nerfed to have strict value caps far below hitscan DPS, which is probably why he said DPS feel several times more powerful than the other roles in OW2.
Overwatch should have stayed a casual-focused game imo. If people wanted to play that busted game competitively, they could've made their own tournaments while the rest of us had fun using whacky abilities (that wouldn't work in a traditional shooter) in more and more whacky game modes.

Let's remember that the game at release was also very deathmatchy because no one knew how to play and coordinate. If you remove one player, put the rest on a new map with a new type of objective and rework some heroes, you sure will have a sketchy game. Now the more people will play 5v5 and push, the better and the more coordinate they will get, especially pros. Probably even to the point of going back to the level of strategy we currently have.
Also, push is only one map type out of 4. We'll always have escort, control and hybrid.

I’ve been thinking this since the original ow2 hype. Aside from the pve stuff, it’s going to be he same game. It’s not a new concept, it doesn’t make fresh changes
OW2 is just picking up a game, polishing it off with added content, and giving it a few balance patches. And that’s literally what they could’ve done with overwatch one. Said new content such as maps/heroes is something we should be getting from overwatch already.
When playing OW2 PVP: what is the biggest difference people will feel?

I think people forget why ow 2 is even a thing. Jeff said himself he had to beg the acti and blizz execs a way to continue monetizing ow without adding predatory transactions. So they settled on a second game. This game wasn’t even their plan they were forced to make it.

Boys, there was a legendary game named overwatch, it helped me alot through tough times it was my escape from reality, I enjoyed the first three years so much! it was fun, this game was a cure to my depression and sadness, but beautiful things don't last long I guess.

I just miss how abilities used to be unique, now abilities are all the same thing just a kill. Slept, ded, stunned, ded, frozen, flahbanged, trapped, etc. etc. ded. Cause the time to kill is like 0.3 seconds, just feels like call of duty and I hate that run and gun BS.

@@satchelmcleod6040 The rebuild took time and even in 2019 they were a solid team. They won stage 3 playoffs. In 2020 Dragons were finalists so with every year the franchise has become better and better.

Things will feel broken if sombra and bastion are the only ones changed. Once all the chracters have been changed we'll see.

As a brig main, I worry, a lot.
Sounds like they want to go into the FPS direction, but wanna follow their own crazy rulebook.
Just look at what TF2 did and copy it, high burst damage like Ashe, Pharah, and Junk should have manual reloads to balance out the output. Then heroes like Soldier and Sombra don't need crazy damage output to compete, just the fact that they dish out damage and reload quicker is enough to give them an advantage.
Then this way the healing nerfs make WAY more sense, particularly if instead it was based on Mercy's Health. Have her healing start out at 60 per second then dip to 30 when she's at 100 health or lower. This way she's punished for her mistakes rather than the mistakes of her team mates (also 50 to 25 could work).
Sombra DOES NOT NEED these changes, I say that as a guy who played Spy in TF2 and knows how to actually take advantage of the first shot. Being able to hack health kits, interrupt abilities, and have your allies see hacked enemies through walls is PLENTY of advantages. You shouldn't be trying to go after fully healed targets for damage anyhow, take advantage of weakened enemies and melt them down.
I just don't think Overwatch will survive going this far in the FPS direction. People liked OW because it was different from the other FPSes; if you put it up against the likes of Tf2, Call of Duty, and Titanfall 2, OW is going to lose hard.

So pretty much the meta is going to be playing dva with dive heroes but when u get booped away you just spam your bullets dealing like 2 hp per 4 seconds but the enemies get reduced healing

Brig shield bash, disable abilities for a moment (1 sec), call it a stagger? No knockback or stun. Or, keep the stun, but make it use 50% of her shields hp. Just something to give it some purpose, but not let her spam stuns.
