    Below is the link to the Intex parts kit you'll need to be able to attach your pool pump to your stock tank. If your pump came with one of these pieces already, you'll only need one kit/box! If it came with ZERO threaded inlet/outlet pieces, you will need 2 or the combination of the white one we use in this video along with a plunger valve. If you end up using two kits, you will not need to buy and extra plunger valve.

    For anyone reading this... You should have the inlet and outlet farther apart. Farther apart the better to help with proper circulation. Also, the fitting @ 4:29 is for aeration and should be on the outlet fitting not the inlet.

    Hi! Thanks for this video. We just set ours up and we had our electrician come out and check the situation so he could quote us for a new outlet closer to the tank. He mentioned that by law, he'd have to ground and bond the pool since it's metal, however, the Intex pump (the one shown above and the same one we purchased) has no bonding circuit (circuit may not be the right thing to say, but basically the part of the filter that allows for bonding) because it's fully encased in plastic. Are we at risk of electric shock?!

    I can't seem to find an answer. Maybe you can help. I put in a 6X2X2 stock tank for lounging in on hot day. As for heating it, how about just digging out a trench under it and building a small fire there? I'm aware of possible hotspots and such, but is the basic idea one that would work?

    I think I'm confused about the need for the parts kit. We have an Intex 1000 that we've used with a vinyl above ground pool. It came with connections and valves that worked well for that pool. Will the ones that come in that box not work well for the stock tank for some reason? No issues with buying the parts if they're needed, but it feels like I'm missing something

    I recommend applying a coat of clear Flex Seal to the inside of the tank. The steal will rust under certain water conditions such as pH levels of your local water.

    • @StockTankPool
      @StockTankPool  3 года назад +7

      We DO NOT recommend flex seal to use on the inside of stock tank pools. Flex Seal is not rated to be under water continuously. We have learned and several other stock tank pool users have learned that Flex Seal is a disaster for stock tank pools. But everyone loves to recommend stuff they've never tried.

    • @markgoodwin5074
      @markgoodwin5074 3 года назад

      I actually painted it first and used clear flex seal over it after curing. It's been a year and everything is great. My on my first project I used nothing and it was covered in rust on the inside after one year. Maybe the oil based paint is the real answer. But that combo has been very effective.

    • @StockTankPool
      @StockTankPool  3 года назад +6

      @@markgoodwin5074 Glad that's working for you. I did not have the same experience and have had many emails from people who also had bad experiences. Where the problem lies is if you get a tear or crack in the paint/Flex Seal combo water gets between the paint and the tank and rust forms that way. Also, if you look into whether or not Flex Seal is approved to be under water continuously- it's not. So for all of those reasons we do not recommend it. You're the first and only person I've ever heard who's had a good experience with Flex Seal inside their stock tank pool. So we will continue to not recommend it.

    I did this install using the pump on the links above. The pump runs loud. Has anyone else observed this? I think it is the reducer found in the inlets that connects to the larger diameter hoses. Does anyone have solutions to this? Also, I did bleed the pump.

    • @richardfowler3254
      @richardfowler3254 2 года назад

      That is why with a traditional "in-ground" pool pump is always away from the pool. All pool pumps make noise, having it right next to tank pool means you will hear it. I would suggest using a time clock to run the pump at night when the pool is not being used. You can also build a box with insulation to mitigate some of the noise but remember that the pump motor still needs to breath to dissipate the heat it creates when it is running...

      My pump won’t fill with water. It sounds like a tank. Very loud. I used the shorter hose on the inlet and the longer hose on the outlet. I don’t understand why you used a separate drill bit to make your starter hole!? That’s what the bit is for that’s in the center of the hole saw!!

    • @Trvlrxxx
      @Trvlrxxx 7 дней назад

      The starter hole keeps the hole saw from “walking” and insures you’re drilling exactly where you want. Keeps you from having to apply pressure, possibly denting the metal. The built in drill works great in wood. Not as well in metal.
