Well both Harry + Charles did, as they got engaged in less than two years and we're married before the end of three years together. In "regular citizens world" that might seem a normal time frame for some, but when you are proposing to a person from an entirely different lifestyle, who will be confronted daily to possibly overwhelming challenges , who will be subjected to s life of public scrutiny and to needing to follow certain protocols, it is wise to not rush it. William could have just had a Uni fling with Kate, had fun + then dumped her or she could've done the same just so she'd have stories to sell to the papers. Yet when they took a break she didn't run to the tv, papers, Oprah, to tell all about her fling with William. They were meant to meet, fall in love and become King and Queen when the time is right for them and their kids .
