Barbra Streisand is an American icon ... a national treasure! No other like her in the entire world. Her voice is a musical instrument that has been unmatched since she came on the scene in the 1960s in her 20s ... in April of 2022 she turned 80 years of age and is still going strong. She's always been simply AMAZING! 👍
Eschew Obfuscation Mariah Carey is one I’ve personally never care for. She can do a lot with her voice but I feel she doesn’t sing from the heart. Too into herself in my opinion.
She wasn't old in this video.. In fact she was very young then. Check out all her music. She has material and high notes to keep you busy for years. She's a legendary singer, actress and director. Give a listen to "The Woman in the Moon" from her film "A Star is Born" recorder live for the movie.
A classic moment in the history of television--Barbra's one-woman TV show My Name Is Barbra. It sent out shock waves across the nation and some of us STILL have not recovered! Glad you have discovered her!
It's okay, son, I am 73 years old and I come from the 50's 60's and so on so on and so forth, and I sometimes listen to my parent's music which was "big band" and I LOVE Glenn Miller! So I say, don't be ashamed listening to Barbra.. Just go for it! 😁 ..
So glad that you are sharing Barbra Streisand. One of the greatest singers ever!!!! Check out the video of her singing with herself of “One less bell to answer/a house is not a home”. You will not be be disappointed. Thanks.
You picked a good one to start with. There’s a lot to say about Barbra Streisand, but there’s no denying the power of her voice. Especially when she was started out, back in the early ‘60s.
I'm very glad you have somehow accidentally stumbled upon the brilliance of Barbra Streisand. Is she an actress too you ask? Watch, and listen to her Oscar winning performance in "Funny Girl" where she delivers a rendition of "My Man" that is even more devastating.
She was 22. 😊 Still, by that time she'd had 6 top 10 albums, including the Broadway soundtrack to "Funny Girl" which she was starring in when this was taped. Despite being so young, Columbia TV gave her contractually "full creative control" for the show...which won 5 Emmys. (She'd already won 3 Grammys by this time, too. The soundtrack to this special would be her 7th top 10 album and she'd win a Grammy for it, too.). This amazes me when I think of what I thought were priorities when I was 22--oh so many years ago! I admit those priorities were not career-related! 🫢🤭😆
'My Man' is actually not from "Funny Girl' (and this live recording is years before the film)--it is actually an old song from th 1930's that was put into the film version (along with 'I'd Rather Be Blue") as they were songs that the real Fanny Brice actually sang back then. Streisand added it to her repertoire before she made the film.
That song that she sang comes out of the musical called, "Funny Girl, which was loosely based on the life of the comedian/songstress Fanny Brice who was performing back in the 1930's (around there). Who was an American/Jewish descent in (Brooklyn)New York. She was first discovered by a famous producer/ director/ founder of the Zigfield Follies.Named Florenz ( Flo) Zigfield. He was very well-known at that time up and down Broadway, since he would run several shows at different venues located there at the same time. So the movie was about her, Fannie Brice. Back in the 50's and early 60's musicals were the rage and people loved them, because songs were blended in along with the actors speaking their lines to enhance the drama and effectively show what the character was experiencing at the time..they were looking for to appeal to the audiences emotions, and it had raving reviews if it was done well. And "Funny Girl" did!! Barbra Streisand won an Oscar for her performance and she deserved it! And if you dig deeper and check back to find the original Fannie Brice (which I did!) through You- Tube's vault, you can find not only videos of her,( Ms Brice's) original comic skits, and some of her original recordings, you'll find that "My Man" was one of them! And then you can compare both Fannie Brice's recording of the song and Barbra Streisand's, Barbra's was much better! Barbra got the way Ms Brice's personality, mannerisms, and voice down petfectly. It just wasn't coincidental that Barbra is also an American/Jewish woman from New York (Brooklyn) either! Even though they were born and lived decades apart and weren't related! That's why she gave an Oscar wortby performance! She also acted in the follow up movie called, "Funny Lady' It didn't win an Oscar for Barbra, but I thought it still was a good performance. An added note, it was produced by Fannie Brices son in law, who died long before the first one was made. This is for FY I,but I hope you found it interesting enough for you to explore these things I told you. Be blessed! 😘🌹
She’s so beautiful in my opinion. I have all her albums and grew up listening to her. She’s my favorite since I was 8 years old and still is. She the very best songstress ever in my opinion .
Yes, she was an actress and won the Oscar for Funny Girl. But, first and foremost a singer. You should check out Don’t Rain on My Parade from that movie. ruclips.net/video/-Yfh_CpA9Sk/видео.html
You and this song were just what I was looking for. You are the first one reacting to Streisand that I have heard so far. I had forgotten. This was from the movie and stage play (i believe) Funny Girl with Omar Sherif! At the beginning, of movie she starts to sing but she sounds bad and she gets booed. You know what happens next. Thank you!
She is beautiful. When she started her career they wanted her to get a nose job. She said the nose stays. There was this actress named Jenifer Gray. She was in Dirty Dancing. I saw her in a movie or something later on and I did not know who she was. I knew I hadn't ever seen her face. She had the nose job and it completely changed her face into a whole other face. Her career never really took off. God, I loved watching you fall in love with Streisand. It was so cool to watch a man get her!
You might know her from the ‘Meet the Fockers’ movies with Ben Stiller. I think she’s in the third one. A true legend! This song is from the film ‘Funny Girl’, released in 1968😄!
Thank you! That's one of my favorites by her, and no one else seems to be familiar with it. It's from "Funny Lady," and it makes me wish she had done more Kander and Ebb. Great soundtrack, bad movie.
Before Barbra, there was Judy Garland. This is toward the end of her short life from a TV variety show she had for a short time. Check it out. ruclips.net/video/3RBOBFTnW04/видео.html
Although I don't agree with her politics, I can separate art from the artist. I bought every album as they came out in the 60's & 70's. Loved her half a century and I refuse to let politics ( as long as not in the actual song) keep me from beauty & talent.
Well if truth be told...you probably don't like her politics only because you don't agree with them. Me, I resonate completely with her views so it makes her even more desirable as a human being and an artist.

When I’m 90 years old (if I live that long!) I will still be listening to Barbra Streisand.
BARBRA.. Artistic Originality and Brilliance. ✨
The greatest singing voice of my generation.
None better in any generation. On par maybe but better..nope!
Absolutely

I watch this frequently you frequently

Love your reaction to something brilliant! Keep checking out Barbra, the only artist to have number one albums each decade for six decades!☮️❤️
About time!! Big thumbs up. Great reaction.
Thanks for watching man
Check out When “The Sun Comes Out” from that same TV special. Singer, Actor, Director, Producer, Writer and EGOT winner. Phenomenal
Check out Barbra Streisand singing "Send in the Clowns." It's another incredible performance. Thank-you for posting this!
Everyone knows she's a spectacular singer and actress.
Like butter!
When she got to Hollywood they told her she had to "fix her face". She refused.
And she's not old here, probably 30.

Good thing she refused. That kind of surgery comes with a danger of changing the sound of her voice.
Exquisite, Sublime, Perfection!
You gotta react to her singing in the central park in 67!!! That just.. wow
She won the best actress Oscar for her first film out ... Funny Girl the film this song is from :)

The most awarded entertainer alive....
That was pretty incredible.
Hello... "The love inside" .... And" No more tears " are two of many great songs barbra sings
check out Barbra Streisand song The Way We Were
its a shame you did not get a better video of her singing this song in color (with her blond hair) in 1975
And her blue eyes
Yes, she was an actress and won the Oscar for Funny Girl. But, first and foremost a singer. You should check out Don’t Rain on My Parade from that movie.

She calls herself "an actress who sings"---check out a movie called "The Owl and the Pussycat" 1970
My favorite song by her is called "Comin' in and out of your life". But there's no video to it that I know of.
nice comments

Stri-hand .....ughhhh. Older woman.... hahah. She was 23 there.
Didn't know she could sing? And they say excessive weed doesn't make you stupid.
Oh this doesnt show nearly what she can do !! You must watch morr
Great singer but she's way to political for my taste.
Who needs you?
@@fkd1963 excuse me. How incredibly rude. I can ask the same. Who needs you?
