- If you could read lips, would you share other people’s conversations or secrets? What about celebrities like Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck or a public figure like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortiz? It’s an ethical dilemma a few TikTokers are facing after they went viral for interpreting celebrity whispers. In this week’s Stay Tuned, we’ll check the accuracy of their lip-readings and how they decide what to share online or keep private.

I seriously love how she separates celebrities and politicians and gives reasoning behind her decisions. It’s a politicians job to represent their people and we should know what their discussing!
I want a compilation of politician lipreading
Shes not accurate so ethics doesnt matter lol
Uhm, should be the other way around. Celebs who cares what they say, but politicians esp. Congressional ones, they may have secret knowledge the US should keep to themselves.
@@josephotremba7466they shouldn't be discussing stuff that's sensitive in the public forums, like in the congressional chambers, at official press conferences and events, at campaign events, and also in any space that there is no expectation of privacy.
That's bootlicker stuff you're talking.
Lol is that like bootstrap stuff?
I went to school with a stone deaf guy who could expertly read lips long distance. He was a star on our football team, too! Went on to become head coach at Gallaudet University...
Hey Bill, I remember you :)
I tried that Bennifer clip for myself:
Ben: oofda oofda, you preen sausages?
Jen: oh baby, the professor brought a sponge.
Ben: nifty playdough
It's my first day
You nailed it, buddy. I have no doubt that, that is exactly the conversation they were having. I mean, who doesn't preen for sausages? 🤷♀️ You gotta look hot for your meat products. It aids in digestion. 😅
My sister is hearing impaired and has relied on lip reading since she was 2. I would only trust her or someone who is deaf or hearing impaired who has learned lip reading and utilized this form of communication out of necessity.
Okay then.
So a hearing child of deaf parents is NOT TRUSTWORTHY ENOUGH FOR YOU, MA'AM??!!
Or worse, ME??!!
I learned to lip read to save my life from an abusive parent by reading the mouthing of the other.
None of them were deaf.
And I CARE NOT THAT "PEOPLE" LIKE YOU DO NOT TRUST ME
I'm a CODA. I was taught to read lips from a very young age like my mom did. It's a lot of fun sometimes.
My Mom had a really hard time though during covid cause she relied on lip reading and everyone was masked. She had to put her health at risk and ask people to remove their masks to know what they were saying.
I love lip reading. I can't handle dubs because if the mouths and sounds don't line up my mind short circuits. Captions ftw.
Hope your mom is doing well.!? Salute👊🏼
I'm hard of hearing so I lip read a LOT and rely on hearing aids in combination. One of the things people are most surprised by is that I can see accents! If you're southern, I might not be able to hear your accent, but I can definitely see that the way you speak is very different.
It never ceases to amaze me that people completely ignore the fact that there are lip readers everywhere. People who are hard of hearing are often overlooked, because they can be the quietest ones in the room, lol. If I could read lips, I wouldn't mention it to anyone unless necessary. 😂
There are also security cameras everywhere, and potentially microphones too. At some point the public needs to wake up and realize that when they are not in their own home, they are likely being watched or listened to, especially by electronics. Some people even have spouses recording them without their knowledge.
Two very good reasons to ALWAYS be kind to everyone, everywhere!
You are who you are, no matter who is watching.
Right? Deaf people do it all the time. My grandma was great at it. My mom said they hated that growing up 😂 she couldn't hear them but she still caught everything they were saying.
Can you read what someone's saying if their jaw isn't moving, when they talk through gritted teeth? Also, how accurate do you think you can get?
With Alexa and all these "smart" electronics in our home I'm sure we're being listened to as well.
@@pranavps851 The OP seems like they can't read lips, but as someone who uses both lip reading and sound, I can say people talking through gritted teeth and mumbling make it very difficult for me. I've met some fully deaf people who can read my lips from the side, and even when I'm talking fast and moving my jaw less, though. And, accurately enough that I never had to repeat myself for a full conversation.
there's a popular social media account called "bad lip reading" and it's satirical and supposed to be absurd & funny...but it shows how easy it is to get lip reading wrong, but make it appear to look real.
Yeah, that was funny a h.
A lip reader's worst nightmare is a ventriloquist 😂😂
This reminded me of Bad Lip Reading. Hilarious 😂😂
Fact!!!!!
💥 💥
If it's caught on camera out in public, it is totally shareable
Agree. All the goody two shoe stuff was a bit much. We need unethical lip readers! 🤣
Get a life
@@yvy6269we have that on RUclips Bad Lip Reading
Rigt..lets get the real details.
@@yvy6269ye like y does she even care .most of the celebs were speaking in public anyways and some were around other people
I love that Nina is keeping her 👀's on our elected officials 👄's. 😊
My favorite. It's better to actually have the lip-reader doing the live lip-reading than to listen to someone give you the regurgitated version of it all. Lip-readers are entertaining, too.
I’ve been reading lips for decades, because of a partial hearing loss from an injury. I only have a hard time when I’m reading lips of people who have a beard and moustache or with people who are from a different country and they have a heavy accent. Other than that, I find it is definitely an asset in my life. 😁👍
Can you read lips when they're wearing a mask?
@@annonimiss6422 of course not.
@@annonimiss6422you're kidding right? There's no way you asked that seriously... 🤦♀️
@@crystanick2697 yes, I was kidding.
I've found lip reading helps me understand people with accents better, personally! I have some friends with accents who I have a super duper hard time hearing when I'm driving with them next to me, but when I look at them the conversation is fluid and I hardly misunderstand.
I grew up with hearing loss and audio processing issues, so I rely on lip reading a lot! Dealing with masks has been a huge challenge and mumblers who barely move their lips drive me mad. When I'm around younger people who want privacy and try mouthing things to each other, I do try to give them that privacy lol
I agree with the ethics of sharing entertaining things, but nothing defamatory!
I think we all subconsciously read lips to an extent. When everyone was wearing masks, I couldn’t understand a single person. I have to see their lips to get the whole sentence
Yes! I realized during the pandemic how much I rely on lip reading to understand what people are saying
I couldn’t hear during the pandemic! I realized that I read lips along with hearing. At the checkout, I couldn’t understand anything.
I like these social media lip readers ONLY because they understand privacy & discretion governed by a moral compass to not air dirty laundry.
At least 90% of ALL lip reading is just flat out wrong. They're all just guessing.
Literally
Incorrect. For many people, lip reading is how they communicate with the world every single day. Sure, these people may be wrong or just guessing, and they admit it. However, there are excellent lip readers who are more accurate than people with hearing.
Did you know deaf people rely on lip reading to survive in a world that doesn't speak sign language? You might not have the skill, but many of us developed it because this world isn't designed for us, so it was necessary. There's practice videos on youtube if you want to try and develop the skill, but making claims like this because you can't do something is silly.
Im so sorry for your loss 💐🙏
I wish I could do this. I find myself trying to read lips bc so many people mumble! Even after being asked to repeat themselves, marbles in mouth!
Stop looking at people's eyes when you talk and start looking at lips! lol You can develop the skill without realizing. There's also a game called "mad gabs" my friend tried on me and found I was REALLY good at due to lip reading. You could probably practice that way!
-autistic with hearing loss, I hate eye contact and lip read.
@@secretlybees Interesting... I will start trying that. I heard that looking at someone's mouth can indicate attraction so I hope I don't give the wrong impression lol but I will try it anyway. I also feel uncomfortable with eye contact so this might be fun to try. Thanks for the tip!
@@dejah2553 Tbh, I'll tell people that I need to lipread if we talk often - people often don't notice with small encounters. Even if you don't NEED it, here's a pass to say it to avoid any awkwardness lol
the “bad lip readings” always make me laugh
I get it. Now we’re playing Celebrity Bad Lip Reading.
The things people will do for content - what a world 🤦🏿♀️
I'm sure an AI algorithm exists to do this automatically, or if not, it will soon.
Omg yes absolutely!
"You're not always gonna get it right but, I just think the imagination of it... It's still really interesting to imagine, like, maybe they're talking about something, you know, similar."
Translation: this is social media and I'm taking you all for a ride
A lot of words when spoken look the same. Case in point, Matt and Man.
I rely on lip reading to supplement my hearing. You don't always get it right because some words look the same. Try the game "mad gabs" and you'll be able to see that not only do some things sound similar when said, but they looks similar with lips. Like "These If Hill Wore" equals "The Civil War". I'm really good at that game due to lip reading (also the 'whisper challenge'), buuut it's not always perfect.
Bad lip reading is unironically the best lip reading
I should be a ventriloquist. You can't get me
(Needs video editing. Dropping the whole vertical video in a horizontal edit makes the images tiny, really poor when trying to see face movements. 10x worse watching on a phone.)
Reminds me when teachers would put up folders, papers, some even tried the keys in their hand to keep students from hearing or lip reading. I used to think it was childish, but now, not so much.
Someone bring Beyonce's elevator video back 😂😂😂😂
I honestly don’t care about any celebs or what they have to say but politicians? I’m definitely want to know!
Celebrities an politician are friends
Bad Lip Reading: "I'd buy a baby rollercoaster. Hit you over the head with a chicken nugget."
She has a Belize flag behind her 🇧🇿 ❤
Lip readers of all those politicians should be a job worth its weight in gold.
Did the narrator say "death" instead of "deaf!?" 😂
It will consider eavesdropping in distance haha
I am so sick of celebrities, flaunting their money in their beauty and the poor people in this country, blocking all over them, buying their products given in likes on RUclips and whatever else they do to support these horrible people that are in my opinion are getting way more praise then they should
My oldest brother lost all his hearing at eight years old. Plus one of my uncles was born deaf and another lost his hearing as a young child. So we grew up doing sign language. My brother learned lip reading and we learned from him. Only not as good as him. Now they are all gone and my signing skills are not that good anymore. But I still understand when I see someone sign. Now my lip reading is much better since I have gotten old my hearing is not as good.
She deserves the Nobel peace prize
Why?
I thought it was going to be deeper than this hahahaa I guess I was fooled.
Yes, if done in a public setting.
😂 Aubrey Plaza is just Aubrey Plaza on or off camera 😂
TIL I can still like Aubrey Plaza, this makes me happy.
From my point of view, who cares. I don't follow any celebrities, and I don't care what they do or say! If celebs don't like lip readers violating their privacy, let them do like football coaches do, hold something up in front of their face while whispering.
This reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where Jerry's gf is lip reading and thought George s gf told another guy, maybe after we can sleep together instead of sweep together 😅
kind of reminds me of backmasking and how easy it is to mix up words
There is no expectation of privacy in public... can't say anything about lip reading. People that can do this are well within their right to do so.
Reminds Me of TheLipReader ToothPick Scene in TheFilm "CASINO".😜
That clip of Prince Harry either used a ton if context clues or is just a near random guess. Yes, I can lip read and have hearing loss
In the UK, if you are in public, then you can not assume a state of privacy.
Uh, if you’re talking in public and you know your mouth is visible- you’ve lost the right to privacy. Plain and simple. No further things to debate. Just like the president shouldn’t discuss classified things if his lips can be read.
I want to know what was said in the elevator between Solange and JayZ!
1. She could be wrong.
2. Theyre in public so these are public conversations
Lbs I would love to be around her ! I can’t read lips but body language interpret here so yesss I love this !!!
I think they are simply putting words in people's mouths. Some of it may be believable, but I'll take it with a grain of salt.
Bad bunny did not say that😂😂😂
If you dont want people reading your lips in public wear a mask or cover your mouth. This is why athletes especially nba players do it all the time postgame.
1:41 I watched this because my grandma-in-law could read lips, she was hard of hearing, too, and it’s amazing to me that people are questioning if this is a real skill or not. 🤦🏻♀️
Yes it is unethical, it is called 'eavesdropping".
Imagine inventing a new occupation just for it to be absorbed by AI in an instant
Why is she not capitalizing and selling her services to the government 🤣
Purposely bad lip readings are still funnier.
Can you formulate a sentence without using the word LIKE unless it's is in context?
Bad lip reading does it best
Cover your mouth. I do it when I'm discussing something private in public and I'm not a celebrity! Football (soccer) players do it all the time.
If you can read lips that is great but post it to the world to see is not right.
You better stop, they'll go back to wearing masks 😷 lol
I grew up with a hard of hearing mother. I can read lips, but she's definitely better at it than me
Hall 9000 do that in Stanley Kubrick's 2001 a space odyssy.
The ;most powerful weapon of the Texas Revolutionary Army in the rebellion against Mexico was Deaf Smith. He would sit in a bar with a bottle of tea and a stupefied look on his face and intercept all the plans of the Mexican Army.
The most famous fictional agent was the Lone Ranger's friend Tonto. "Tonto" means "stupid" in Spanish. But he wasn't.
This is like the RUclips channel
Bad lip reading
THIS IS GREAT!! THANKS.. ME ADDICTION FOR COUPLE SECONDS.. HEE❣️❤️💯
*New.. oops
I read lips at the beach
You can say JC on NBC now? Wow
Too funny !! Love it , I wanna do that 😁
Don’t say anything in public you don’t want someone to hear
This is a superpower 🎉🎉
How do we know she isn't just full of it, like Bad Lip Reading?
As someone who can read lips, both women seemed to have pretty accurate reads. It's hard to be 100% sure sometimes without sound included, but it's a real thing people can do. If you want to find out how good they are, pick up the skill yourself and compare.
Jomboy is the OG!
I know most athletes know about this and cover their mouths during conversations court side or sideline.
This is so cringe she can basically say whatever she wants and it looks like they're saying that.. dont believe this crap guys
This is the worst impersonation of bad lip readings ive ever seen
Putting words into somebody's mouth. Sarah Cooper had some good scripts. Putting expression-reality into Donald Trumps words. Showed a different side, not usually apparent.
See you at my mansion tonight, OK?
Bad Lip reading is better.
Now make AI do this and it’s a wrap
I’m more a fan of the bad lip reading
Umm.. it's plenty ethical.. that might not actually be what they're saying.. knock yourself out.. fret not
Getting to a point where you have to cover your mouth to speak in public
NBA players do it all the time. Especially lebron and curry
If a celebrity doesn't want people to know what they are saying, they shouldn't say it in public.
Weirdo
Why? What if someone was to read everything you say when you are in public and post it?
@@bigrivtodagled8210who cares! I have nothing to hide. If it doesn’t end people in jail or unalived, who cares.
@@bigrivtodagled8210 Why should I have the expectation that that's not being done when I'm in public?? I don't.
Exactly! If people want to keep something private, then they should only say it in private. 😂
Sorry, but their deliberate exposure is their and others money maker, they can't deaf yell their private stuff in public and expect no one will hear 🙈🙉🙊
You’re in Public.
So no one has heard of JomBoy?
@Stay Tuned Try to get Dua Lipa with that Frankenstein boyfriend she's with, Romain Gavras.
I can read LIPS too😉😉😉
I see no harm but I think after awhile it gets boring .
I like the Belize 🇧🇿 flag on the wall! Go Belize 🇧🇿
Who is she?
She looks like Jenny Slate
I wish I could speak and understand hopi so I could lip read the hopi language. When we go visit my in laws they are constantly speaking hopi and I have no idea what they are saying. Be nice.
