Very nice stuff. I always thought that it would be interesting to hear about how you came to obtain these cards and sets like the trophy cards etc... Not how much you paid and what not, just perhaps the stories behind how you got them. Love the content as always.
That video shows how much effort you put into this hobby(and potentially money). This is a really hardcore collection and i don't think many (if any) can't compete in this level of collecting!
Not that casual grandma's basement video. 🤣 But really, besides the jokes, thank you for sharing this content with us Scott! That's trully important for the community and the history of the Pokémon TCG!!! Those are museum pieces you have there my friend and the better thing is that they are in good hands! Thanks man! ^^
Any way to rule out of that spectrum all of the Snap cards, 1998 Trophy cards, Prerelease Raichu, or Base-First 10-zard? (With the Snap and Trophy cards and Raichu, perhaps there aren't enough data to place them on the spectrum?)
I'm new to this side of Pokemon so sorry if this is a dumb question. Where would prerelease Raichu fall on the list? I've heard rumors of it being the rarest English card in existence
I'm obsessed with the 1997 Pikachu trophy cards. There's two on ebay right now, one is going for $70,000 and one is going for $100,000. I'll never be able to obtain these cards it makes me so sad 😭😭
I plan to join the efour.proboards as I started seriously collecting this past summer. I missed getting a neo intro pack for 20 bucks back in January because I did not know what it was at first. Now I really want one and was hoping you could point me in the right direction for a fair price and where to look. Any suggestions? I'm so angry at myself for not buying it....so stupid. Can you give me advice?
Hi Scott, what is the difference between a tropical wind from the mega battle, and the tropical breeze card? if it was only given to japanese competitors, is it a different card from the VS deck variant? Also how few 2002 battle roads were held? Lastly for fun, how do you think a psa 10 English VS set and a psa 9 Raichu Pre release would compare with the list? (Just for fun, don't know if they could ever get graded that high)
That is the "Tropical Breeze" card. Each player at the 2001 tmb received the vs deck variant in their respective language. I would say the japanese is the most sought after as it is also a "P" promotional card. If someone wants to complete that P promotional set, the japanese is necessary. Oh and PSA will not grade the PreRelease Raichu.
Thanks, I was also wondering whether you know about the distribution of Design Contest promos for 2009/10. I think there are only 12 Pichu/Arceus sets, but 100 of the Zorua/Zoroark sets based off the amount available on the market.
I don’t understand how the illustrator is worth more then some of the trophy cards given to the winners of tournaments considering less cards are out there of these trophy medal cards yet the pikachu illustrator has like 20 copies out there!
There are 30 something known illustrators out there. It all has to do with the perception of the cards and not so much the sheer number. At this time, Scott had thought there were only a few and then more surfaced. So by the time word got out that they weren't as rare as people though, the legacy proceeded itself. Same could be said about 1st ed base set zard, it's one of the most valuable cards yet there are hundreds of them in high grades and thousands in the pop report alone, not to mention how many are out there raw.
It's insane to think you have two illustrator cards. Do you feel that if they ever released a copy or something similar of that card would that make your card go down in value?
I think if someone had a real offer for a $1,000,000 somewhere down the road, he'll sell a copy - that is if he wants the money at all. I personally would just hold onto it. the fame, respect, and prestige that comes with owning it is better than money...
On the trophy cards, unless I'm misunderstanding something, how come there are more than three copies if they are awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place? Were some printed as an extra or something to replace the others just in case or were they used for different competitions within the tournament? All those cards look amazing, thanks for sharing!
Significantly less copies were awarded. For example, the 1999 copy has around 25-30 total in the PSA pop report. Where the 2001 only has the 1 copy in the pop, and has been that way for almost a decade.
I will Send you an Email, but I thought i might say something here aswell. I have an Ungraded in Very very good condition No. 2 Trainer Card im Thinking of selling it or maybe getting it graded first. I have had this card in my collection for a very long time. Maybe you can Help me? Greetings From Germany

I'm new to this side of Pokemon so sorry if this is a dumb question. Where would prerelease Raichu fall on the list? I've heard rumors of it being the rarest English card in existence
Those full art Pikachus are insane
Mr.Smpratte what about the raichu pre-release
About how long did it take you to acquire all of these? And when they got them did you grade them after, or purchase them graded?
so much wealth on one table
I'm obsessed with the 1997 Pikachu trophy cards. There's two on ebay right now, one is going for $70,000 and one is going for $100,000. I'll never be able to obtain these cards it makes me so sad 😭😭

smpratte, do you have the prerelease raichu?
How did you get those cards? I don't want to know how much you maybe payed but just the journey to the cards 😊
I would've liked to hear how you obtained these extremely rare items
each of these videos makes my trophy card feel like crap haha
What is it if you don't mind me asking?
I don’t understand how the illustrator is worth more then some of the trophy cards given to the winners of tournaments considering less cards are out there of these trophy medal cards yet the pikachu illustrator has like 20 copies out there!

Man I don't think i'll ever be able to afford these cards ever I need the damn powerball then I can get them all hehe!!!
Now that's an expensive collection xD
It's insane to think you have two illustrator cards. Do you feel that if they ever released a copy or something similar of that card would that make your card go down in value?

How do you acquire such rare cards? Rare doesn’t even begin to describe them
I wonder who has the one missing 97 Pikachu trophy card.
How did you obtain these cards
I legit just saw 2 illustrator cards what the heck
Didnt you sell one of the illustators? do you still have two of them left?
Mats Mathisen He has owned all the graded ones.
SM it would becool if you gave the market prices for all of these
Unbox God there's really no set price, it's worth as much as someone is willing I pay for it.
On the trophy cards, unless I'm misunderstanding something, how come there are more than three copies if they are awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place? Your are the collector
I want to know why you listed and then removed 2 million set
it's like straight-up poke pr0n
oh god.. my eyes!! 😉
My guy how did you get these?
Why is the 2001 worth more than the 1998 one?
Significantly less copies were awarded. For example, the 1999 copy has around 25-30 total in the PSA pop report. Where the 2001 only has the 1 copy in the pop, and has been that way for almost a decade.
As of today theses are worth a couple million dollars at a minimum.

You are a mad man lol
I will Send you an Email, but I thought i might say something here aswell. I have an Ungraded in Very very good condition No. 2 Trainer Card im Thinking of selling it or maybe getting it graded first. I have had this card in my collection for a very long time. Maybe you can Help me?

non of us dont have a nostalgic connection with those cards. you will most likely find only investors searching for these.
