Just bought one, and I couldn't agree more with everything you said. I want to carry things sometimes, or take co-workers out to lunch, and I want to do it in a stylish, quiet, comfortable, and safe vehicle that doesn't empty my bank account. Taking off from the light faster than the teenager in the next lane was nowhere on my checklist.
This car has my interest. I’m 70, retired and own a Cadillac. The majority of my driving now is to the grocery story and McDonalds. No more long-distance runs. Just around town and back. I’m giving this Equinox some serious thought.
just recently took one for a test drive and was pretty impressed. I have a 22 RS and it's just fine, but this one has a little more horsepower and same torque but an 8 speed transmission instead. And the mileage between the outgoing and incoming is 1 km difference. But like every other car, it's about how hard you are on the gas pedal.
Really nice review. I’ve always been a little baffled by the engine choice but the way you explained it as part of an overall philosophy as to what a majority of the people actually want, it makes sense to me. Thanks for explaining.
An overall descent redesign but one that is hampered with the usual gM bungling and bean counter mentality. The Active trim has no place as the top trim level with its fake knobby off road tires and swaths of cheap black plastic everywhere on the exterior. There needs to be a 2.0 liter turbo option on something this heavy and also a hybrid option to be taken seriously as a competitor and they need to offer more than one interior color option for each trim level. Lastly they need to make the second row seat both recline and slide back and forth like it always used to on the 2005-2017 models! The MPG loss on the FWD versions really disappoints and literally every competitor is achieving better numbers on both variants.
I think that's because on paper, this vehicle just does not compete. The good about it is that they've lifted the Sportage infotainment design, and they've actually improved the screen resolution and brightness. I think the worst thing about Equinox is that they didn't give it the beautiful exterior look that they gave the EV version. The AWD EV is arguably the best looking SUV in 2024, and it has a disgusting 0-60 time of 5.8s. The gas Equinox will be worst in class in too many of its categories...
Good Evening Aaron! Thank you for your thorough and frank review. One question; Was there any difference in the ride/sound quality between the ACTIV and RS models? Many Thanks, Graham.
anytime new layouts and tech happen, it takes time to get used to things. It's like when you upgrade your cell phone. Where things are and the layout takes time to get used to it. Some complaining about the headlight switch location. Well, that's why it's has the automatic setting so you don't have to think about that. My 22 RS has the dial and I can't remember the last time I need to use it. Same can be said about the fog light access. How often do you need them on? I took one for a spin and was pretty impressed in general. People want more speed/power, then complain about the mileage.
I have a back problems and this one was the best for comfort the Activ. I test drove the terrain and I was in bed for 2 weeks lol the activ is $47,000 canadian

This is my favorite review of the 2025 Equinox. It's to the point with beautiful camera work. Thank you. This vehicle is on my wish list. ❤

I remember back in the 80's or even 90's when most cars had minimal HP. I got pretty good at planning ahead for passes.
Engine is a really good one !! GM is keeping it because is enough for that nice car
Some of these people criticize it without even driving or experiencing the vehicle

I wish if there was a trim level that has the midnight edition wheels and the RS interior…
What is said at the beginning is only technically true…Blazer has the EV totally separate version now, but the reg/gas one hasn’t been reworked.
Everytime I drive my equinox at night the dash lights turn off and won't turn on until I stop the engine and restart????
Nice vehicle
Funny how the term”active” is the top trim here, but the new base trim on the 25 Explorer…
Hello Grandpa
Couldn’t agree more . Too busy….
It's a 2025 not a 21 and people still butt ass hurt damm some people
Substance over speed? It’s not a good vehicle for Texas highways. That pokey SUV will get run over… 😂
Yes because people cannot drive in Texas.. more of a hurry up and wait kind of state.
Can you find a thin correspondent.. With him in the frame, all cars feel claustrophobic
He’s like 300 lbs like find someone else to do the review!
@@carlson2012abqb stop fat shaming people you weirdo.
@@carlson2012abqbHe’s well over 300 pounds.
What a belly-acher.
This guy is TERRIBLE!!!!!!!
The 2025 Equinox RS AWD is Fantastic and best in Class, Period.
Dudes slick sarcasm is ridiculous and unwarranted.
need to fire the whole design team
Horrendous front fascia. Way way too much plasti-chrome
More like way too much cheap black plastic everywhere. There is barely any chrome on these ugly modern vehicles!
