People just don't connect the dots. Last year when Ohtani was signed and Yamamoto. Roki wanted to get posted immediately so it was obvious that Roki wanted to be a dodgers....Roki is probably the asian Paul Skenes but with an injury history
I’m a Dodger fan and it’s really hard to compare him to Paul Skenes. Skenes is so complete there is nothing like him in the MLB. Every single pitch he throws is above average to elite. Roki doesn’t have the pitch mix Skenes does when it comes to off speed and breaking pitches.
@legoatjames2740 I'll be back in a year or two when Sasaki evolves in his development and outperforms Skenes to your knowledge. Patience will be a delicacy 😂🔥💪🏻
The bluejays need to do some serious self reflection or just fire someone. Like you said. No team should be striking out on this many big free agents when they have the money.
WOW!!! We got a real detective over here. It only took signing Yamamoto and Sasaki and he was able to come up with this incredible theory! If only people knew already and knew Sasaki was going to LA the entire time!!!
This is the result of the Dodgers' long-term strategy in turning the Dodgers into THE MLB destination team for Japan over time. The name Dodgers has basically become a designer/elite brand name amongst all MLB teams to Japan and their players.
He masterminded another World Championship out of thin air. 2020 had 16 teams in the playoffs and 2024 not only their worst season since 2018 they only had 2 healthy regular starters and no one had them getting past the Padres. Fans forget so quickly how dire their chances were.
Really interested now with the Japanese first basemen next season, just Japan mlb dynamic wise, will be interesting and very telling for the future of Japanese guys I think.
Robbie thanks for being the most informative of all the coverage today. Only podcast to bring up FanGraphs data, which is important get a good understanding of what this guy is going to add to the dodgers.
Dodgers also aren’t afraid to sign guys who have had arm issues reason why we usually have a lot of pitches hitting the IL. But it’s also a league wide problem
Doubt anything illegal happened here. Roki wanted to be a Dodger the whole time, but his agency wanted him to at least make it seem like that wasn’t the case so they could avoid bad PR
He's still a kid who admittedly is not fully developed. He needs a third plus pitch which will be his slider. And the Dodgers are a slider factory. But he also needs to adjust to MLB umpires who have a moving strike zone that varies at times, from pitch to pitch (automated system can't get here fast enough). And he has to adjust his approach to batters where there are far more power launch angle monsters than in Japan. Like yamamoto, he will need to get comfortable with operating in the upper quandrants of the zone. In Japan, with so many contact over power hitters, pitchers don't often venture in the upper areas of the zone because that leads to easy contact. The pitchers in Japan live in the lower half because there aren't as many power sticks who are always looking to lift the ball. Yamamoto was clearly reluctant during his initial starts to venture high in the zone and because of his impeccable control, batters only focused on the lower half of the zone which made him easier to handle. Once he realized the upper quandrants were the weak points for the power stroke hitters, you started seeing more high splitters and rising fastballs, which augmented the effectiveness of his splitter and plus plus plus curve down in the zone. Hopefully, yamamoto conveys that early to sasaki, so he doesn't have to learn the hard way.
I'm just glad we had the whole fake dog n pony show like he was EVER gonna go anywhere else "Oh small market is good because he likes to keep to himself and doesn't like tons of media" "He wants to be his own guy" "He wants to go somewhere that's good at developing pitching" "Tanaka was his favorite pitcher" "Darvish is like his godfather" "Kikuchi really sold him on Toronto" Shut up baseball media. He was never going anywhere else. These Japanese players consider nowhere except LA if LA wants them and they're straight up cowards Dodgers get to use the NPB as their personal farm system I guess
@@AndreInThe416 he had a bunch of teams court him are you ok? Did you not see the media cover every team try to sigh him? Can you show proof there wasn’t equal opportunity? I’ll wait
Dodgers also had less money than pretty much everyone in this years international money pool. They didn't get em because of cash, he chose to sign with the Dodgers.
Robbie Hyde, Great channel. Roki Sasaki to the Dodgers? Is anybody surprised? I am not. I am a Yankees fan and never really was losing any sleep over if Roki came or not! Did not care so much. Yankees have a good staff now! And Yankees need a third baseman or second baseman more than Roli Sasaki on the team. Asia is the Dodgers minor leagues now for the past several years! Roki is a good talent though and should pitch well for the Dodgers!
LMAO !! Stop Crying Everyone !! Save those tears for when the Dodgers Win their 5th or 6th World Series ! Can You Say DYNASTY !! 💪🏼💪🏼 LET'S GO DODGERS !!
For every fanbase that isn't the Dodgers, stop being mad at your front office for not getting Sasaki. He was always only ever going to be a Dodger, just like Ohtani. This means you, Cubs fans.
cry buddy milk it this is your chance dodgers are a winning team with the greatest player if any other team signed him they would have gotten yoshi and roki as well blame your org to get the best contract in sports history in shohei which is 700 half his value seeing what soto got
Shocking, huh this is bad for baseball three out of their five starters are from Japan. I wouldn’t want to be in the National League. It’s gotta be some kind of rule. They’ve been just signing the best free agents every year.
I don't understand baseball media. You know this was tampering. Dallas Keuchel (hist teammate in Japan) spilled it months ago and said Dodgers had a deal in place for him. League looked the other way. Everyone in baseball media says "eh, it's just the Dodgers man, great for baseball." Who is going to actually speak up?
Usually when international guys get posted early they have clauses in there contracts saying that they can’t get sent to the minors. Not saying that’s the case for roki but I assume his agent will put something like that in
Thanks. It's an exciting time for the Dodgers. I'm curious what they'll get out of it. I came across this little video today. The way he talks about baseball is very funny. what do you think? ruclips.net/video/0Pp-LFb5qFE/видео.html

Feels like getting Shohei Ohtani was the turning point for the Dodgers... Turning into Japan's team might further attract more top japanese players...
It also help that Ohtani defer 680mil 😂
At this point Ichiro might want to come back playing for the dodgers
Murakami next

Dave Roberts should be paying the Dodgers to manage this team.

Dodgers have officially assembled Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster 😂
Ohtani is the "Field Of Dreams".... if you sign him, they will come 🇯🇵🔥🤣
Just want the Red Sox to come home with Bergman and tanner scott man
Maybe they'll end up with Assenado
@@rustyshackleford6637 wouldn’t hate it but I like bregman because of his ability to play the middle infield (2nd)
