      Ive vacationed in USA over the decades because I could live cheaper on vacation than I could at home -(shopping in Publix) - USA has been exporting inflation for decades - the rest of the world are more used to these prices - sadly the privilege of the reserve currency means Americans have so far to fall - I listen to Americans in shock at rising prices - wow! they have STILL to catch up with our pre inflation prices. I worry because my many friends just don't understand just how high this will go.😔

    Sometimes there is a backup of a product because no one can afford that product and the consumers are cutting back. The factories keep producing and they have to move that product so they bring it down in price . They also have competition with other brands. They cut the price to stay in competition.

    Yes Danno, yes, Kirkwood chicken is indeed affiliated with Tyson Foods. Aldi, a popular grocery store chain, sources its chicken from Tyson Foods. This chicken is then sold under the brand name Kirkwood. The Kirkwood product line includes various chicken parts such as breasts, thighs, wings, and drumsticks. So, in essence, Aldi’s Kirkwood chicken is Tyson’s chicken, just packaged under a different name. This affiliation allows Aldi to provide quality chicken products at competitive prices.

    If so many stores can suddenly reduce prices, does it not follow that they have cooperatively been price gouging. I recently read (can’t remember where) that beef is at an all time high retail but the wholesale prices are not. Again, the grocery store is taking advantage of the shopper. Super 1 here has the best prices on sale meat and produce while Walmart and Target have the best price on packaged goods.

    If you are serving or have served and have access to military commissaries, take advantage of that access if you have one close enough. It's hit or miss for better prices on most items, but the meat prices are extremely competitive. For example, I can get a family pack of pork chops for about $2.50 cheaper than Walmart, which Walmart is our cheapest option outside the commissary here. 80/20 ground beef is $4 a pound at Walmart if you buy a 10-pound log and the commissary has it for $3.56 a pound.

    I thought buying less making it last longer would be good. Biught a 3 lb. chuck roast. Cooked it with carrots and potatos. The potatoes were great, the carrots were hard the meat was tough. Next night the carrots and potatoes were great. Meat still tough. Third night two pounds + of meat we cant eat . i have cooked plenty roast for my kids this was the worst ever. Never have we had such a tough piece of beef. It was a flub.. It was easier to eat eat rooster when we did, cooking was it was three times longer taste was not there but meat you can barely cut, hardly chew and doesnt tear even by grown men is disappointing.

      Try putting that "tough" meat into a cooking bag with the potatoes and carrots. At the very least use the crock pot to cook that meat.

      @@paulawinstead5660 yes last minute I noticed I only had tin foil to use to cover it. It still is the toughest we ever had, and we used tin foil on others that were great.

      I do believe I saved it, to late to let it sit, it smelled good ,felt good no slime and had it original liquid " the water I added first night. I put it in a pot today, added one can undrained cut green beans , one can seasoned field peas and snaps, slow cooking on med. Low I can now cut and tear the meat , as it got easier I cut into smaller pieces and it is just at warm , took out the fat from the meat and was told put it back for flavor, our late lunch and dinner today..no waste , carrots that I cooked originally are still in the pot too the potatoes didn't last as they were better. This is a first for me. I will definitely do mine in a baking bag next time.

    • @stainedglass8401
      @stainedglass8401 3 месяца назад +1

      I was told on my last chance to save the meat it was good on a taste test fourth day and second time heating it after originally cooking it. Just a little longer for me, tender and juicy now. Great taste like I wanted. Impressive what time does , to much to not try.

    • @stainedglass8401
      @stainedglass8401 3 месяца назад +1

      A success finally , fourth day it was perfect , the carrots roast green beans and field peas and snaps heated in original liquid and can liquid added enough to cover the meat and made a balance for a hearty meal. Husband thought it needed to be tossed until he tried this version..son said good enough for dinner tonight. My plan. Google says 4-5 days for chuck roast if it is not spoiled or stored wrong between heating. It worked. Lunch was filling. Dinner is done. Microwavable now..

    The viral $18 mcdonalds meal that went viral has been interesting. Mcdonalds ceo came out with a bs statement.
    My mom suggested we go grab a McDonald's hot fudge sunday tonught for a little treat. $3.19 each! We were shocked, tiny little ice-cream with a tiny pump of hot fudge. They no longer have peanuts and no whipped cream. We will stick with popping into the grocery store for ice cream from now on.

      Stopped going to McDonalds long ago ~ but we stopped for an ice cream sundae treat last year. I ordered a hot fudge sundae and the guy was laughing as he handed it out the window to us -acknowledged the lack of hot fudge- less than a tablespoon. That's was the last straw. We won't go back.

    When I go grocery shopping, I normally hit Aldi, Hannaford and Sam's Club. Aldi for produce and dairy, Hannaford for meat on sale (it's normal for Hannaford to have 99 cents a pound for either chicken legs, thighs or drumsticks, or pork butt or picnics and they rotate them weekly) and Sam's Club for a chuck roll or brisket for canning.
    BTW, if you do shop Hannaford, be aware they drop their next week's circular online at midnight on Thursday, so if you are up at night and can't sleep early on Friday morning, you can check what will be on sale the next week and plan for what you want to can or dehydrate next. I love rurally, and have to plan my trips to market.
    Thanks for the video, Danno!

      I'm in NW WA and the regular prices are not that high at Fred Meyer or Safeway and Safeway is expensive. We went today and got grapes $1.97/lb, tomatoes on the vine $.97/lb, avacados $.97 each, broccoli crowns $1.57/lb, and pork chops $1.97/lb all on sale at Safeway. Buy what's on sale.
