I probably commented on this video ten years ago ... I don't feel like scrolling back LOL... but it's a testament to how fucking amazing Q-Bert is, coming back to this video every now and then, and still finding his scratching amazing to watch. Probably my 20th time watching this video over the years, and I still think it's downright badass. Amazing =)
man that other faderless scratching vid has got me coming back every few months to watch it again, can't get over it! im looking into buying some vinyl decks ahaha
Seeing this guy was a transformational experience. I was working at the NAMM show in 04 or 05 and he was in the booth across from us. I stood at arms length watching that artistry. Chatted with him for a minute. He was a gent, really first class guy. He had a queue hella deep of people getting autographs. He was doing selfies with everyone and just hanging, easy going.
he looks like he's having so much fun when he's rippin it up, im sure he is, he just comes off to me that he's probably a really chill cool nice guy in real life, just knows he's got a gift and lucky for us shares it with us all
This was in the Rex Club. I remember hearing he was there last minute and hot on the metro asap and got in just in time. There was also this french DJs called C2C or something. Great show and awesome memories!!
SO, what can you say, when you see a man at the top of his game.. and the passion and authenticity shines like the careful rotating optics of a lighthouse across a dark-sky-heroic lifeboat-crew-died-in-the-black-waters stormy sea.
It is a lot of great DJ’s out there. I started because of Grand Master Flash and for parties, to me, no one can match Jazzy Jeff but in the bigger realm, you have to be crazy to not recognize this is the best one on THE PLANET 🌍 🌏 🌎
There is absolutely no one better in this world than that man right there I can accept almost as good or maybe as good but no way better there's nothing he can't do great on that f****** turntable he is the best he does everything with ease and this is coming from a man who started DJing in the early 80s he is incredible there is nothing he cannot do it's nothing he will not do on those turntables the absolute Don the absolute king of every and any technique and style on that turntable the f****** best hands down
Q in his prime! He's still amazing, of course, but I think he'd personally confess that this was his tightest era. We had him play a show back in '97 based on his rep alone (never heard a demo, set or anything until then). He certainly blew minds that evening, mine included. I have the audio on my profile with the hypest crowd you've ever heard at a tablist show.
I don't think we will ever have another Qbert. I mean this Vestax Turntable was very obviously built with "single deck turntablism" in mind, its useless at anything else really. But this man stops scratching and showing of turntablist techniques, and starts fucking drumming. The man is a prodigy, an enigma, one of a kind a fucking legend that even nearly two decades later I keep coming back to watch, and no one has surpassed his skill yet.
i meet him at this demo,a great and humble Man. he come just with an md player , a qfo and 10 break beats for a 1hour show^^ and this hour passed like tens minutes :'( greatest skratcher in the world with D-styles IMO
@MartyHITD i believe it's the audio recording. That way, you can hear every detail of the DJ. It's the same type of audio recording style if you watch the Scratch All The Way Live DVD.
I'm not very fond of the French either, but having been there, Europe, and the rest of the world for that matter, have a waaaay better appreciation for REAL hip-hop than us Americans do. That may be an overstatement, but I'm just sayin...if you think these foreigners have no idea, ya MAAAAAD wrong, SON!
@Trance4Matioz He uses the headphones because even when the beat is cut (because, if you may have noticed, on the right side of the deck theres another fader), he is still listening to that beat and scratches on it, thus making a new beat by scratching but still on a similar pattern. That is one interesting deck I have to admit.
There's one switch, or slide, or whatever that he uses through the whole video; he has his right hand on the record, and his left hand on the switch, and he keeps flipping it from one side to the other really fast as he's scratching. He only touches other switches a couple of times to adjust things. I just wondered about that one.
40 yrs from now when Q still looks 23 he's going to be rolling around in a wizard cape. under the hood will be the the same kid......
This comment is awesome!💿🎚💿🎶😂😁
Yes
He looks 22 now 😂
@KingOfScratchyeah but he looks 23

Same here. Q is the truth.
100% This man has a skill set and a pure talent that I have never heard or seen beaten in 2 decades, and I don't think it ever will be
no one will EVER be as good as Q-Bert.
I've said gimme a set of decks with life in prison and I can't touch him
I've heard his hands are so baad, he can't even beat himself.

This makes me cry with joy.
all the qbert on the qfo videos are timeless
he looks like he's having so much fun when he's rippin it up, im sure he is, he just comes off to me that he's probably a really chill cool nice guy in real life, just knows he's got a gift and lucky for us shares it with us all
I must have seen this video like a hundred times

@Trance4Matioz He uses the headphones because even when the beat is cut (because, if you may have noticed, on the right side of the deck theres another fader), he is still listening to that beat and scratches on it, thus making a new beat by scratching but still on a similar pattern.
