Not all weight jumps are the same and i think alot of people underestimate the jump between 168 and 175. 168 is basically full of juiced up middleweights/light middleweights, whereas light heavyweight is a bunch of cruiserweights on a diet.
This is the first time I’m gonna pay to watch a fight I respect both for making this fight a reality

morrell gives me aj vibes in the sense that they're both big guys with power and technical ability for their division. I just feel like when it comes down to getting gritty and landing hard shots throughout the duration of the bout, nobody fights harder than Benavidez. Benavidez is relentless and breaks guys down with his amazing shot selection and volume. I can see him pulling through, it's hard to keep him off you for 12 rounds
I love Canelo saying a fight with Benevidez does nothing for his legacy but then goes and fights plumbers and electricians as if thats what he'll be remembered for

I always thought David was overrated and a weight bully, so I tended to overlook him. However, the way he dismantled Demetrius Andrade-who was arguably one of the most avoided fighters in the division at that time due to his awkward boxing style-really changed my perspective. I initially believed Andrade would use his footwork to avoid getting trapped on the ropes and would box his way to an easy decision. Boy, was I wrong! That fight sold me on David.
In his last fight, David faded a bit in the later rounds, but let’s be honest: he dominated the majority of the match, and at no point was he in real danger. I think people are putting too much emphasis on the fact that he wasn't able to finish his opponent, suggesting that he couldn't carry his power to 175 lbs. While that could be true, I believe he was still adjusting to the weight. Plus, Oleksandr has an incredible chin.
This is all just my personal opinion; I'm not a professional boxing analyst or coach-just a lifelong fan. I'm more than willing to admit that my opinions and predictions have been wrong in the past.
That said, I think David will win against Morrell on the scorecards in a close fight. Morrell has faced a significant jump in the level of his opponents way too soon in his career.
You could see marks all over Benavidez face after that fight that were results of cleans shot Andrade landed. I’ve never seen another boxer do so to him. Although Benavidez got the stoppage. It didn’t look as one-sided like his other fights. Andrade had the skill, just not the power nor tank to go the distance. Anyways, props to Benavidez on that win. However, Morrell has all the tools and ability to give Benavidez his first L.

Benavidez last fight was only impressive because he was injured, yes it was a good opponent but after he lost to beterbiev he took a 3 year break and when he came back cherry picked fights and instantly got the chance to fight benavidez, which is why i would've give credit for the opponent he beat but the stuff he had and still fought and won
I don’t think Gvoznyk was fighting to win. Maybe he was but was lackadaisical but Benevidez couldn’t hurt him while hitting him at will. Plus Gvoznyk never threw a proper punch with intent and he still marked up Benevidez face. I think Morelos is just as tough as Benevidez but more power but Benevidez might be lightly quicker hands.

He was in the same division for 10 years and did everything he could but then finally wanted to unify once Canelo did it..
He did lose the belt twice out of the ring which is his own fault. But Canelo should have fought him, not hating on Canelo his resume is stacked but Benavidez was mandatory and he never fought him and wbc never did anything to enforce the mandatory either. Now he is likely going to fight a guy who has been a 147lber for years with 1 fight at 154. The old guard with all the belts ducking the new generation claiming "they dont add to my legacy, they dont deserve to fight me" cus they dont want to deal with someone younger and in their prime.
