I keep a spreadsheet of every movie I have to help prevent accidental double dipping. I keep a separate tab for movies I've ordered, then move them over once they've arrived. Because of this, I generally prefer my movies to be in alphabetical order, regardless of packaging or if it's Blu-Ray or 4K. I do prefer to keep sequels together though, and I've had some internal debates on whether to bring all of certain directors together, such as Hitchcock, Kubrick, or anyone with a box set. For now, I'm keeping movies not part of a box set separate, except for sequels. For example, I ended up buying all of the Rambo movies separately. It felt kinda dumb splitting the first two up. I initially had them all under F for First Blood, but I recently relented and put them all under Rambo and in release order. It looks like I'm an idiot having Rambo III in front of Rambo, but I didn't name the damn movies.
The most annoying movies to deal with imo are the budget random box sets where you have a handful of movies with little in common. I have a Blu-Ray 4 pack of the Harold and Kumar 3 movies and Beerfest. For now, I have them under H for Harold, but the spine reads "4-Film Favorites Guy Comedies Collection." I have a handful more where each movie is different, and for now I've got them alphabetically under the first movie title, but I'm considering moving them to the back end of my collection, especially if the spine doesn't even say a title at all.
    Collector problems.

No one outside the collector community has a clue how much thought we put into organizing our librarian. Have you thought about an apo like My Movies Pro or CLZ?

      @@otsmovies I'll look those up.
Yeah, I used to work in a video store and a library. The Dewry Decimal System is brilliant, but I'm not doing that at home. That would actually break each movie down to genre and subgenre, depending how many decimals you're willing to catalog.

Hey man, some very cool steel there.
I just put all my movie Blus and 4Ks together, mostly alphabetically. I keep my TV series together on different shelves, and I keep holiday, documentaries, stand-up, music stuff, etc all together with TV. And for now, I'm keeping the DVD movies I have separately at the end of my Blus and 4Ks. I'll probably eventually really shrink the few DVDs I still have down even further, but I have some I want to check for special features and see if any are worth keeping.
I also have a ridiculous amount of video games that I need to slowly reduce. PS2 games were the first thing I started earnestly collecting. I've waited long enough that several of those are actually worth some money now. Easy video game physical media tip...horror genre games seem to almost always hold their value and go way up in value.

Just visually the bigger dvd cases make me crazy on the sheld beside blus. Luckily I have very few dvds left other than documentaries, but yeah you gotta make sure you don't lose any bonus features by upgrading.

Have you shown off box sets or special editions? I try to stay away from most of the gimmicky stuff, like that Saw set with the bear trap mask thing. I used to get some of video game releases like that, but the extra stuff just ended up taking up a lot of room and I ended up not enjoying that stuff like I thought I would, so I've tried avoiding it. I did get the Evil Dead Groovy Collection because it was a good price when I got it, but man, I'd honestly prefer the movies in standard boxes that'd easily fit on my shelves. I don't have a good way of displaying that set. I might actually end up selling it sometime after I watch Ash vs. The Evil Dead and pick up regular boxes on sale or even used. I also ended up with The Wonder Years locker set and The Flintstones DVD special set that is packaged inside a plastic Flintstones TV set. That stuff is kinda cool, but I just don't have a great way of displaying any of it and I'm not too motivated to display it.

I haven't done special editions yet. I'll get to them, naybe next. I agree the special packaging can be cool but I also don't have the extra space to display those.

I tend to comment multiple times on videos as I watch more and want to react to more. I like The Terminator more than Terminator 2 despite having seen T2 multiple times before seeing The Terminator, but I was a kid when I saw both films, knew nothing about T1 when T2 came out, so I was shocked that Ah-nold was a bad guy.
Genesys was the only one I can say I really didn't care for at all. The Terminator franchise is the absolute worst I can think of at spoiling the plot in the marketing, starting with T2 where you already know from the countless tv commercials that Ah-nold was a good guy, but when watching the movie, you can tell Cameron's intent was for the audience to think he was still bad. Similar thing in Terminator Salvation with Marcus Wright being a Terminator. Sure, you could argue that this was already known from the comics, but your average moviegoer wouldn't have known. Genesys, you could tell John Connor was a bad guy just from who they cast to play him. I actively avoided Dark Fate marketing. Anyhow, I put 3, 4, and 6 on about the same level. They're not all-time greats, but totally watchable sequels.
