This webinar is part of the webinar series on Insights in Qualitative Research Methods, a partnership between ATLAS.ti, the International Qualitative Research Toolkit at the University of British Columbia Okanagan, and Inquiry Methodology at the Indiana University School of Education.
The use of visual methodologies within the area of qualitative research has seen a marked shift over the last century. These changes have been driven by a variety of factors, including the development of camera technologies, approaches to visual analysis, ethics of image-making and circulation. In this talk, we articulate each of these factors and discuss how they have impacted our image-making studies with children and youth. Finally, accounting for the ubiquity of visual technologies and practices in everyday life, we consider emergent methodological turns that will continue to reframe the field over the next few decades.
