  • Some video clips I captured whilst assisting the team looking after the HAC's Mk XII Hurricane and Mk5 Spitfire over the weekend. Enjoy the Merlin music!

Thanks John! One of the Spitfires and one of the Hurricanes in this video flew to Malta in 2005 for the "Merlins over Malta" project, did you see them?

@@steamwally Yes you bet I saw them I am not an Aviation buff but I like fighting aircraft especially from WWII. Here is our small aviation museum ruclips.net/video/rwHtQP3jzc4/видео.html It was set up by a friend of mine Ray Polidano.Sometimes I used to give a helping hand with some machining problems!!!!! Now I am too old I was born when the dust from the war was still settling 1946!!!! There is a Bofors gun which I helped restore a long time ago:-) I just finished restoring a Lister JP3 which came off a road roller it was in a mess but after a clean up and repairing some broken parts there was even a bent rocker and push rod!!! I leave my engines in their working clothes:-) ruclips.net/video/uAZYGaBo7Bc/видео.html It is being started by Joseph on RUclips he is known as enginelover1 he lives near me and sometimes he helps in starting engines!!

Great video Phil. Problem here is, having a boat (a few years ago) I saw the Lanc, Spit Hurricane etc on an almost daily basis. So often we sometimes didn't look. I've also seen them from my window in my house, sitting in this chair. However, now they don't fly as much as they did, I'm much more appreciative when I do see them.

Thanks Malc. The history of that period really interests me and always have done. It doesn't matter how frequently I see these aircraft, I always have to stop and listen. With the ever increasing red tape, I think there will come a time when they are a very rare sight and sound.

@@steamwally Agree Phil. Ever since the Lanc flew in the rain and damaged an engine, flies much less today. At one point I went almost daily to Chapel when my boat was there, and of course just down the road at my banger friends. Plus my tractor was at his neighbours all last summer. Saw the Lanc almost daily. Not today.
Oh talking randomly to a stranger year or two ago, he'd had a flight in the Lanc. Apparently all you had to do was ask.
