I love your videos. I've been developing with Filemaker for over 20 years but sometimes I love to learn again things I'm supposed to know... from another point of view... and the way you describe such an amazing function is very, very, very clear! Thank you ! (PS: I love your way of writing GV, I'll use it from now on.
Awesome, this has cleared up Let function. I've us d it but never really understood it, thanks for this great explaination. Love the variable naming convention too. Thanks for this.
38:11 If you open FileMaker on your own machine as the only user and you populate the global fields then close FileMaker and put the file on the server, those values used to be the default value for that field for all users. Not sure if that was a bug or a feature back in the days, did not use this technique for quite some years. Especially after I one day realized I can have a settings table with 1 record.
i am very new to filemaker but i found your video is the most confusing one all around RUclips. your content is great but your presentation is not. if i may suggest please do not repeatedly explain certain thing which you have explained in your previous lesson (such as certain basic function on filemaker environment) just straight to the point of how to accomplish specific goals of each of your lessons. anyway appreciated your lesson
I actually enjoy when you expand a bit on each topic as I learn new stuff all the time and I think that helps other people who maybe didn't follow all of your series and just stumbled across this video which for me was right on point! Thanks for all the work you put in in these series! D
This is the clearest explanation of Let I've seen. It is such a great function that's completely made stupid by Claris unclarity.

Wow, this was more than great. Finally understandig "Let"

I’ve been using FileMaker for years and steered clear of Let as it looked confusing, but now I can see how it works. Thank you
Thanks! I started out thinking "Well, what's the point", but you convinced me! I'll definitely try it out!

+Gjermund Gusland Thorsen yep it's a good thing to know. In fact, I'll be covering global fields in the next video.
Great teacher, thanks Matt!
I might have missed this but is it possible to call a custom (or any for this matter) function from a script?
Nice! Thank you!
Cool. Thanks

Hi Caisar, I think my videos do make a bit of an assumption about being a little bit familiar with FileMaker Pro. But I'll work on keeping focused. :)

What a confusing mess
