your comments about Charlesea's outfit made me laugh. My dad used to live on Salt Spring Island and she definitely would fit right in! Although she wouldn't need a snowsuit because it really doesn't snow that much on the west coast.
@@dotmann40 ohhhhh so she doesn’t dress like a Newfie? 🤣🤣🤣 As a Torontonian (with “Newfie blood”) I’m always envious of BC’s mountain weather. But Charlesea lives here now, so I can’t let her suffer in shorts and a tee, pahhaaa

Hi Blaine! Your video was great. Thanks for sharing all your new MapleLea stuff. I like the named MapleLea dolls the best as far as the faces look but your Tamika is really adorable. In Charlsea’s journal it describes her eyes like the color of the Pacific Ocean. I love all of the references to BC in her journal that are so familiar to me. This what American girl Company needs to understand you are an influencer, that is good. I am afraid to buy things because I've bought things to find that we're not worth the money you pay. I bought Sails, I seen her on your video and Netties. I wanted her and I bought clothes also from Maplelea and I can't wait to get them. @DisBlaine I think you mentioned enough that it made me think of it so probably did for others too. She's on our wish list now with the shoes lol And honestly thank you so much for your advocacy and explaining your issues with AG because when the stuff went down with PP it really hurt as a disabled person who had no chance with the way they run their sales and allow VIP people a few extra minutes when they know how quickly things go in that amount of time. It was devastating and it made me sad that either AG didn't research them at all or did and didn't care. Just hurt because adult collectors have been asking for things in our sizes for a while. For them to be offered on a website that would give most of us no chance. Yeah it hurt a lot but I knew I had a safe space to direct my attention to. So we're on a buying freeze unless it's second hand or Maplelea. Thanks for being honest with us🍓🍓🍓
I LOVE that Missy is from Thuder Bay! I visited there only briefly, but I loved the geography and the sky! I adore her outfit! Hannah is so cute!!! I love red heads and freckles - I've been admiring her for a long time! She looks amazing in the outfit you picked out for her!....I'm so thrilled you got Charlsea!! I wish Maplelea had been up front about the Camp Tanamakoon doll actually being a KMF31. I fell in love with KMF31 a year ago when she was out of stock and waited for her to come back in stock. I was unsure about getting the new version (KMF51) because she looked so different, but after some time and then after watching your video comparing her to TM58, I decided to finally get her. But I didn't feel the joy I hoped to feel when I unboxed her. Something felt off about her eyes. They were kind of flat and lifeless. I had stumbled upon the Camp Tanamakoon listing well before it was announced and thought wow, that looks like KMF31 in the picture! But the description said KMF51. I went back and forth trying to figure out if I should buy her (I loved the outfit), but I didn't want to spend all that extra money, and I felt that these were made more for camp alumni anyway, so I opted to just order the regular version of KMF51. After I saw Nettiezdolls' unboxing of both dolls, I knew they couldn't both be 51s! I asked her for confirmation (I also contacted Maplelea to confirm) and then ended up ordering the Camp doll. There is such a difference in the skin tone, but especially the eyes! They are bright and warm with that starburst pattern. I just wish Maplelea had been transparent about which version of the doll was in the description. Now I spent more than I wanted to and have two similar dolls in my already too big collection. Also, your KMF31 in the custom brown wig is sooo cute! I can’t stop looking at her!
@@lnp102 truthfully, I wish I had known too. It would’ve been better to get Leonie in her proper outfit and a friend doll in the camo one since I don’t use their starter outfit. It’s sad 51 never grew on you-and that you bought the expensive camp doll for 31. It was a confusing release (the way they distributed the doll options and then added another later)
@@DaniandDollies92 lol I wasn’t sure I should draw attention to the fact I stacked empty boxes, but then I realized it was ridiculous I went through all that trouble 🤡
The Maplelea outfits are adorable. The dolls look high quality and like they have really nice wigs, but unfortunately for me their faces really do hit that uncanny valley. I do love seeing how their clothes fit American Girl dolls.
same with me . the faces are off & scary to me but the clothes are top notch! i wish they would take constructive criticism & make some dolls with beautiful faces 🔮 but i do like the fact they have planners & journey pages they add with the purchase of items
@@settheworldonfire94 the faces definitely put me off for a long time. People kept saying they’re better in person and I had to get used to them, but it’s hard to do that when they’re only sold online.
Hey Blaine! Almost everything from Maplelea you opened is what I have on my wish list! I really enjoyed seeing the items on video instead of photos. I don't think the Maplelea website does justice to their products in photos. I have a dilemma, I want to purchase a doll, but I can't decide between Saila or the new #49. I don't suppose you would be brave enough to give me a kick in the direction I should go?🤔 By the way, I'm sort of s Hippie girl myself, so Charlsea's outfit doesn't look "crazy" to me!😁 Thank you for the shares; I had fun!

Great haul! Have you ever shopped from “the Queens Treasures”? They have some great doll stuff I would love to hear your opinions on. It looks high quality and they have some “little house on the prairie” collabs going that look amazing (like using real weighted metal or tin products).
@@NightwingAquaman I had never heard of them before. Just checked them out and I think I like the little house dolls packaging even more than the dolls. The box turns into a bed 🤯 I’m not into little house tho (or Anne of green gables), so nothing caught my eye outside of that
@DisBlaine I get it. I think the collection is more for the Kirsten prairie life fans. I’m just a fan on any high quality items for dolls. That’s what made AG so special. But now it seems like all the plastic has me looking more at other companies.
@@ladero01 so weird that I actually liked it with the sneakers - which probably looked even quirkier lol. You reminded me I still need to buy that outift! (Before the tax break ends)
Loving these Maplelea doll videos! I’ve mentioned that I have Saila and I agree, they are way cuter in person. I’d like to pick up the girl from Quebec, is that Leonie? I need to figure out the girls and which Provence they go to. I’ve been to Quebec twice with my kids French classes. The second time I was hoping to find a Maplelea doll in a store to buy (not understanding at that time, that they are mail order almost always). Since I’m apparently not buying AG right now due to a combination of boycotting and them just not making anything that interests me, I’m giving a hard look again at Maplelea.
@@melangellperry5984 they’re pretty scary in pics tho right? And yep, it’s Leonie! Does that mean you would want her pioneer heritage outfit? It’s very nice but I don’t think I could fit it into my collection. My AG bubble has burst sadly, so it can see now that the quality and designs have… changed. Maplelea wins this round!
Hi Blaine, thanks for posting this! You reminded me I have a $25 certificate to use for Maplelea. 🎉 The face on the 51 doll is so much cuter than the rest of the Maplelea doll lineup, she could convert me!! I really like the meet oitfit shirts and vests that they include on the Maplelea & Me dolls. I wish i could find them on the 2nd hand market here in the states. I can't justify buying the dolls just for the vest and shirt.
@@mykls2153 YOU FORGOT ABOUT YOUR CREDIT?? I’m sure you would’ve remembered but I’m glad this helped. Well that’s one way to solve your shirt and vest conundrum: buy kmf51 🤣 Tbh the body would likely be more jarring than the face. It must be impossible to find any secondhand ML stuff there.
@DisBlaine I saw they had kmf51 in the Camp Tanamakoon outfit in the Last Chance section. I'm so tempted to buy her. Then that would still leave me wanting the shirts and vests from the girl and boy dolls... If you or any of your Canadian followers see any of those on the secondhand market, I'd gladly pay for them and for shipping. 😁
@ oh yeah I have sets I’m not using. $15 if you want the shirt and vest, $20 if you want the pants and shoes too (entire starter outfit). No idea how much shipping would be

@@kerrysmiles wow I’m so weird! I think it’s because I was having a conversation in the comments on another video about the texture of “textured” hair not being like real textured hair. 🤦🏼

Great video as always! I got the Jaunty Jacquard outfit as well as the Chalet Chic cardigan, socks, and ice skates in a pre-Christmas order. The quality is excellent! Now I’m waiting for my first doll, Leonie. Don’t worry about video length- I am carrying around my phone as I do housework! LOL.
The Far North Parka which I got in Dec. is made just like a kid's coat. Same quality and at $52 about the same cost. So it is like a shrunken human's coat. I also have the girl's pink flowery (pink, turq., and yellow) coat called Winter Wonderland and the boy's version that is no longer sold. That one is blue, turq, black and lime green. Both come with boots, pants and mittens. I have the same problem if the doll is wearing a bulky sweater because Maplelea arms are thinner than AG. The length doesn't bother me but I'm not buying the Aputi Parka because it mentions that the arms are even longer to cover the dolls hands due to the cold where they live. IMO, they would be just too long. I can deal with the extra 1/2 inch of the regular coats. I like that turquoise girl's jacket (my favorite color) and that pink outfit with the green t-shirt. I think you said they are older items ? If it's hard for you to buy them, living in the States they would be even harder to find. (Haven't watched the whole video so will leave it at these comments for now).
@@djg5950 I love that parka, maybe one of top 3 ML outfits. It’s about the same cost as a human child’s coat?? Okay I had no idea 🫣😆 I’ll definitely keep my eye out for the other coats you mentioned. Longer sleeves don’t bother me on AG. Maybe because coats sometimes fit me the same way lol.
The one in the Canadian outfit is that the one that you got with your camp doll? I just want to make sure I order the right one cuz I really want that doll.
@@kerrysmiles I got Leonie in the camp outift. Tamika (in the Canadian outift) is friend 51, whereas the camp doll listed as 51 is actually 31, the black doll I opened, with the lighter skin tone and eyes. Confusing right?? If you like the doll in the Canadian outift (and earmuffs), she’s 51 but NOT the camp doll claiming to be 51

You (and Kristie) are such a bad influence... I saw that you had the bee sneakers and immediately went over to the site and bought them. And the sock monkey cardigan from previous videos. I blame you! Really love this big Maplelea video, and seeing the different outfits on the different dolls. It's fun to see different outfits on both AG and Maplelea, to compare and contrast how the 'fit fits. I got the paleontology set for the holidays (my TM112, Carnes, wants to be a paleontologist someday) and it's really awesome and SO CUTE. I really just needed the Parasaurolophus socks and the Triceratops shirt (I had an off-brand paleontology set that had some of the tools and such), but the entire set is just so fun, I'm glad to have it. Your 31 is so cute, and it's really interesting to see the subtle but clear differences between her and Tamika. They really do just look wildly different when next to each other. I love how she looks customized, too! It honestly never even occurred to me that Mapleleas could be customized; I guess I presumed their hair was different or something? I don't even know. I'm trying so hard to not get many, if any, dolls this year (I think I set my yearly goal at 3 or less?), but you are really tempting me with some of these Maplelea dolls, which is... not something I ever thought I'd hear myself say. Their stock photos don't work for me, but seeing you normalize them a little bit and spend time with them has made them feel less, um. Slightly creepy. ESPECIALLY the Tamika doll/31 and Saila. You mentioned a few videos ago about doing a deeper dive into Maplelea history and such, and I do hope you get to do that - I really would love to learn more. I'm just so curious about the company and the clothes, and if you ever find more retired stuff, I hope you showcase it. I hate that Maplelea doesn't seem to have a detailed Wiki like AG does, with the history obsessively documented, because I'd love to know what outfits they've had in the past so I could try to search for them. I wanted last year to be my Year of Maplelea, and it didn't really happen, but the last several releases from AG haven't been huge hits for me, so maybe this year I can officially move some of my doll money over to them. Already off to a start, thanks to your video! Thanks for sharing, as always.

It's such a pretty color. Ok now I need those pink boots because I already have the jacquard outfit in my wishlist and they look so good together! Ok so the paleontologist set is actually meant for taryn, even tho they do show it on a boy as well on the website its part of taryn's collection. The journal pages are part of her story. I have it and it is absolutely AMAZING. I also bought the extra bags of Dinosaurs to put with it. As a lifelong Dinosaur fan who was absolutely enthralled with jurassic park when it first came out,(oh so long ago) I had to get the Dinosaur stuff😂 whats actually really cool is that on the maplelea website, in the reviews for the paleontologist set, there's a couple of reviews from actual paleontologists and they love the set and one even shows a comparison picture of their actual hammer with the maplelea one and the similarity is amazing. Anyway I think that's all I have to say. I'm not usually one to comment on a video but there was just so much in this one that I kept wanting to say and so here it is😂 and like other people have said I listen to your videos while doing things, like cleaning or organizing doll things, so longer videos are always appreciated!
@@kelseypeterson5172 haha I call Nettie an honorary Canadian because of her ML collection - and she likes it! I didn’t know about the 31-51 differences until someone pointed it out from her video. @DisBlaine yes I know, I always check the last chance section before buying things, and have several items from there in my cart at this moment, but I'm waiting to get paid before buying anything. I turned this video on while I opened my first Maplelea purchase and dressed my AG dolls in the polar bear sweater dress and the same jaunty jacquard outfit! The polar bear sweater dress was made for Corinne and her meet boots- so cute! I put jaunty jacquard on TM115 with the boots from the AG Peru outfit, which are also pretty perfect with it. I wish the sweater was a little longer and the pants were a little looser, but it’s still too cute to pass up. One question: are you concerned about dye transfer with how snug those purple pants are on an AG doll? Thanks for showing the paleontologist set! @@MegEGC ohhhhh the polar bear outfit is a great idea for Corinne! I ended up dressing a doll in that later in the video - how funny!! Hmmm I’m not worried about transfer from the fabric BUT! @@DisBlaineI just went back and found the polar bear outfit, as I was wondering how I’d missed it. Now I remember listening to you while I stepped away to grab a couple of dolls to try on the Maplelea shoes I bought.
i enjoyed the video very much, thanks! The thing i most enjoy about Maplelea is the quality of the dolls, cloths, and accessories. On the other hand, the new quality of American girl clothing has become so poor, its right there with our generation, even with their special edition dolls. The reason we don't see it as much, is because AG designs are much better than OG. It is very disappointing. They will continue to put out poor quality products if people keep buying them, and i fear it may become worse. The Christmas dresses were the worst i have seen yet, especially at that price point.
@@jamesbosslet994 I think that’s what it’s been with AG: I like the designs enough that I look past the deteriorating quality. But yes with Maplelea I like both the quality and the designs. As much as I LOVE the pink stardust Claudie doll… the dress gets worse the longer I have it 🫣

Seeing your 51 was what made me realize that the pale skin on the listing photos was a lighting trick, so I jumped and got my own, but now I wonder if they just haven't updated the photos since they updated her and just keep using 31's photos 🤔 One thing I've noticed looking between 51s and 31s is there's a wide variety of wigs, mine has the perfect placement of her hair for headbands (I got her and the Prairie Crocus dress outfit at the same time and the headband that comes with that is about the perfect thickness for the sort of "indent" she has) so I've been constantly putting little ribbons/bows in her hair to hide it and try to shift the hair around but it naturally always falls the same. I've also fallen in love with the new Leonie mould, her original face was the one my cousin got and it was... Worse than Brianne's lets say 🤣 I've been debating grabbing a new Leonie or seeing if I can find one with her secondary mould used to customize
@@directionroxmysox oh no, do you mean your wig has a sort of gap in it that a hairband can cover? Mine took a while to settle, but it was decent out of the box. I wonder if the site pics are overexposed. She’s wearing the outift from the new dolls. 31 has denim colored pants.
@ yeah! I left it to settle for a couple days before changing her/messing with her hair and it stays “parted” right there, though it’s been useful in tying the fibres up to help the back of the neck hairs relax a bit so the back of the hair isn’t flat. Something about small mistakes making the dolls more endearing comes to mind whenever I change out her hair bows

I'm Black American, and the Maplelea KMF31 dolls are the closets to my skin color than the American Girl ones. The color range is usually not the best for Black dolls, but at least American Girl has darker skin color. Design wise, I actually like both for different reasons. When I was younger, I really wanted an American Girl doll, but the price and lack of stock of the black dolls made it an instant no from my parents.
That's such a bummer I wanted to get one of the camp dolls and I was going to get 51 because I really wanted 51.

@@eliseelliot isn’t it scary how dolls can grow on you? I don’t understand it at all. I know I used to find AG creepy / ugly at first but I don’t remember the way they looked to me. Maplelea is still fresh enough I’m aware of the creepy factor - especially because I have a doll (my first) in terror condition. But even she’s grown on me in ways (funny ways, not cute)
Also, they look terrible in pics.
The clothes are incredible tho. Maybe as I hunt more of the old ones down, I can help fill up the wiki 🤣
Great video, love these dolls , wish they were available online internationally!
@@DollLoversHub oh nooooo, do they only sell to North American?? I know shipping from Canada to overseas is ridiculously expensive, but I hoped a business (even a small one like ML) had better methods 💔
Well, I am getting used to those dolls. So you are right they do grow on you. I placed 2 orders over those sales. That sweater looks like a drop shoulder sweater so for me it fits fine. Now I have those two bonuses to use up. Really, it never ends! I love both the darker skinned dolls and I would for myself not change them. They just look like different dolls and I like them very much as they are! Surprise for me. Just fun and cute. Thank you so much for sharing. It is fun.
@@JoanneSag isn’t it so weird?? I don’t know if they need to be seen on their own, or if you have to adjust. I agree about the sweater! The fit looks nice to me. I’d rather too long than too short.

Your Maplelea are lovely. I am telling myself I don't need one, lol. (KMF32 isn't available on the site anymore - sad).
I do love the Jaunty Jacquard outfit, and the coat is one of my favorite colors - teal. That pink outfit, while well made, is DEFINITELY too much pink for me, so I will enjoy seeing it on your lovelies 😊.

Love those outfits. The quality seems to be pretty good & has a lot of variety. I am sooooo tempted to make an order from Maplelea. Wish I could put you down as the reference. The dolls still have an uncanny valley look to me, but I also felt the same about AG until I had one in hand. Now I think they are the cutest. Is this how it happens? 😅
Where I live on the East Coast of the US, folks from New Jersey and Pennsylvania get the Newfoundland treatment 😂 And I married someone from New Jersey so he has to hear it all the time 😂
@@Darkhart_Dolls I definitely see how they enter uncanny valley (hope I don’t burn that thought into everyone’s head), but I’ve adjusted to it and appreciate their beauty now. It happened faster for me with AG because I got to see them in stores for a long time.

Ok so i have a lot to say😂 first, yay you know Nettiezdolls!! She's really good and I love her comparison videos seeing maplelea, ag and other brands against each other. And Yes on a darker black skin tone! As someone who absolutely LOVES my darker black barbie dolls, I would be over the moon thrilled if maplelea made a darker black doll. Oh wow I didn't realize 51 was so much different than her previous version. I like 51 alot more. Ugh charlsea is growing on meeeee..... you know what, I give up😂I'm gonna own all the characters at some point. I already want Brianne and Leonie, and I've been thinking of taryn, now you got me wanting charlsea and all that's left is alexi. I already have saila and I LOVE HER so freaking much. And I still want the Asian one and 49, Missy to you, Canyon to me since I already have the dress😁 oooo seeing that 43 and charlsea have similar eye colors makes me want 43 even more than I already did.

43 is in the last chance shop, so decide soonish lol. Maybe she’ll get a new version too, no way to know yet.
@DisBlaine yes I know, I always check the last chance section before buying things, and have several items from there in my cart at this moment, but I'm waiting to get paid before buying anything. That would be interesting to know if 49 and 32 have any differences too. Hopefully if there is I end up liking 49 better though, as it's already hard to find maplelea stuff second hand in the US, but some things are basically impossible to find here.

Wonderful video. I wish #31 doll was still available. She is so cute, like the variation in skin tone and eye color. Charlsea is growing on me. Pictures on Maplelea website doesn’t show how beautiful these dolls are.
@@delmafahie7088 yeah because 31 has a range of eye colors (from what I’ve seen) I’d probably try to grab a couple more 🫣
Yeah I’ve taken a couple pics to send people and while it doesn’t capture their cuteness, it does prove the site pics could be better 🤫
I considered ordering it and between your review and the catalogue pictures, I foresee it jumping into my virtual cart!
@@MegEGC ohhhhh the polar bear outfit is a great idea for Corinne! I ended up dressing a doll in that later in the video - how funny!!
Hmmm I’m not worried about transfer from the fabric BUT! Ive had transfer from thread before. I’ve since done a vinegar soak on that sweater (from moon cakes) and it’s not transferring anymore. Try that if you’re worried. Some collectors wash / vinegar soak everything before they dress their dolls 😵
@@DisBlainethanks! The moon cakes sweater was what made me think of it because Kristie from AGTakesOver had the same issue. That’s good that you haven’t had any issues with the fabric.

@@Emily-oq1on it took her a minute to grow on me but she’s really sweet 🥰
i enjoyed the video very much, thanks!
As much as I LOVE the pink stardust Claudie doll… the dress gets worse the longer I have it 🫣
I need to do a big Maplelea shopping haul before that certain person implements tariffs on goods from Canada. Thanks for the reminder! I love love love their outfits, and might consider another doll (you convinced me to get KMF51 (love her)!! Thanks for the video Blaine!,

51 is definitely their best! Who else would you consider?
@@DisBlaine I completely agree with what you’re saying about his threats. And the people who voted for him have no idea what the consequences will be. But at least eggs won’t be as expensive (insert eye roll). I am so embarrassed for our country.
I’m thinking Leonie so I’m rewatching your videos. I have a ton of medium skinned Josefina mold dolls and I think 49 is a bit close.
I can’t believe the way you were treated by AG. What a horrible way to treat Canadians. Long live Maplelea!
Seeing your 51 was what made me realize that the pale skin on the listing photos was a lighting trick, so I jumped and got my own, but now I wonder if they just haven't updated the photos since they updated her and just keep using 31's photos 🤔
One thing I've noticed looking between 51s and 31s is there's a wide variety of wigs, mine has the perfect placement of her hair for headbands (I got her and the Prairie Crocus dress outfit at the same time and the headband that comes with that is about the perfect thickness for the sort of "indent" she has) so I've been constantly putting little ribbons/bows in her hair to hide it and try to shift the hair around but it naturally always falls the same.

Can you recommend an 18 inch doll line that creates whole immersive historical sets like AG did? Their collections and book stories are seriously lacking these days, and as an owner of a Kirsten set myself, I want to give my daughter a similar experience
@@lucydiamond123 tbh if another doll line like that existed… I think AG would sue! There are certainly other great 18” doll lines, but it would be very hard for another company to try to rip off their historical concept.
