My favorite part was the connecting reactions to childhood experiences (trauma). My least favorite was the censor bleeps - they are very loud. Perhaps just mute the audio, not insert a disruptive sound.
That trauma establishes itself in your nervous system and is unconscious and it can be as simple as low level negative family patterns, like tension and fights at dinner time - my husband loses his mind when interrupted and feels like he is unheard, now I will pause a little and try to understand his reaction now, without logic but with more understanding. Also witnessing myself a lot at the moment and this has added another layer to watch myself through. Love both of you, so this was wonderful...x
5 second rule changed my life! I no longer procrastinate for days on end now its only minutes at a time. I still do it but just not as long. Mel has taught me that my anxiety is my superpower & I no longer let it ruin or run my life. This woman is a powerhouse & I'm so grateful to have her as a teacher 🙏🏻❤
Great to hear Mel Robbins talking about being a ‘bulldozer’, I have often struggled to hear her messages as her teaching style always made me feel bulldozed. To hear her talking in this way, sharing more of herself and being so open about how she is still in ‘lacking mentality’ as well as about her trauma has opened my heart to her. Thank you, Lewis, for having such a show and being open to share of yourself too. Love and Peace to you both 🌹
Hey, Lewis. You're great and I love all your content. I just want to let you know that interrupting someone with ADHD (as Mel has said she has) is really frustrating for us because it takes us a while to access our thoughts amidst the chaos, and being interrupted puts us back to square one. What Mel said in the interview about exploding when interrupted is a very normal thing for us and it's something everyone I know with ADHD is constantly battling against (we don't mean to explode!). When asking someone with ADHD a question, give them a few minutes before interjecting again. It may seem that we haven't grasped the original question but we most likely have and are just trying to articulate all of the thoughts racing around our heads :)
In this one interview Mel just made me realise that things I remember from my childhood can be called trauma and are significant to how I act and think about myself. I always thought that it was something wrong with me for feeling certain way and kept blaming myself but now I see there is a deeper reason. Thank you both for your conversation❤️
This is the most refreshing, honest conversation I have heard in such a long time. I love you two together. I resonated with Mel soooo much. I absolutely love her. I’ve been listening to her for years. As I grow up and I develop and as I become more of who I want to be. Her teaching no has hit better and better with time and with progression.
Much love and appreciation for this space you and Mel created, Lewis. Let’s continue to do the self work we need to in order to heal ourselves and our planet. 🙏🏾
Thank you Lewis and Mel, this episode starts from 7:58 from the rock bottom hit you, it will bounce. When the whole will went upside down you always can make it right, when 1 chapter-end you always have the power to write a new one. When your friends leave you, you have yourself to love you and support yourself,. I been through this rock bottom and I realized the most powerful things is myself. and I am so grateful for my parents who gave me this powerful body and brain. i am thank you for what i have been through the last 2 years, and i so lucky that youtube brought me to Lewis channel. i love your show, i love the great people that you had interview. I felt i am not alone, so long i am not going to give up. My new chapter of my life will start. I never meet these great people and you (Lewis), however, Elivia would like to say THANK YOU THANK YOU much love to everyone. Muack i learn a lot from your yourtube.
Love Mel Robbins! She's so real and doesn't sugar coat the truth. I like her perspective regarding Courage/Fear and Confidence/Self Doubt. Lewis you're awesome too! Keep being you! I hope to meet you both one day!
*You know what! This was so refreshing to see I'm not alone in feeling this way! You make so many great things happen and people around you tell you how great you are, yet you feel like you havnt done sh*t and wish you can do more! Mel is so real, and Lewis is so genuine in his responses! Thanks guys, God bless!*
Wow. Almost wasn't going to listen to this. But turned it on while traveling and so glad I did. Will comment more later when I have a few minutes to say what I found most useful. But man, I ALWAYS get something valuable from listening to Mel. She's incredibly grounding. Thanks so much Lewis. Was interesting to hear some of your story too in your talking with her.
Excellent interview. Thanks Lewis and thanks Mel for being so transparent. I appreciate the conversation so much. By the way, I have Mel’s book in audio, kindle and hardcover. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽❤️
I couldn't finish listening to this, to be honest. She definitely has that day time talk show energy in which there is a touch of narcissism under the guise of being helpful; privileged but with a side-elbow of "look, I'm still relatable". This is good material as a starter pack into self-development for people who have never delved into that before, but there is so much more. Like people who think they understand law of attraction after watching the secret.
so raw and authentic. This is the first time I really connected with Mel Robbins. Thank you for being real!! I believe we make our biggest impact when we show up as we ARE instead of how we want others to see us.
I've learned to love myself using EFT/tapping. I'm 41. It's changed everything. Had depression, anxiety, CFS, done hypnotherapy, meditating, had therapy... but until you love yourself, nothing will change.

Great Pause for yourself during this s* show pandemic! I loved - hit bottom and bounce ! Our life is so rushed... what is important taking care of yourself and loved ones ! It’s all inside of ourselves what we truly need it!
First of all, you both are amazing, real and appreciate you both and your channel, Lewis...I visit often! Learned tons from this talk and related to everything you discussed! You are both brilliant and the cohesion, ease and your understanding of one another made for great listening. I didn’t want the conversations or the subjects to end. Thanks for being you and being here for us all in “RUclips” land especially during these times! Much peace and love to everyone! Keep growing, keep learning and make a difference whereever you can. Be safe❣️
What I just thought when I heard you talking about abuse and people-pleasing: experiences in life, especially heavy unexpected ones, often shape your perception of yourself, your perception of worth, etc. But I just feel that we have tremendous power to give the opinion that was thrust upon us back and choose another every day. Abusers e.g. only abuse out of some kind of negativity/inadequacy/self-hatred, whatever it is. It says all about them, nothing about their victims. It is their decision. So in the long run, despite the actual traceable trauma, we can choose whether we accept their self-perception as an opinion of ourselves. And thus whether we multiply negativity or don't.
Lewis I am your fan man, you have a great personality .…..but now you invited Mel Robbins my woman crush. She speak from the heart without emotions ……#great interview indeed
Such a powerful reminder that I’m not alone in my fear. So good to hear a successful entrepreneur talk about self-doubt, a scarcity mindset, fear and hardwired beliefs. Timely for my new niche business launched mid-pandemic... feel the fear & live your purpose! Thanks Lewis & Mel x
Forwarded this today to family members as well. Self-doubt holding me back as well as being “busy”. These months have slowed me down w work but I see my business picking back up and I’m losing the knowledge-self awareness I had gained/learned/saw during these months. Loved this & Mrs. Mel is so very real & puts a wonderful sense of humor into hard lessons. She lived it she learned & now shares, that’s a hero. Thank you both you guys rock!
Lewis Ma Man!! You bring such amazing people on your show, I am always looking forward to your podcast, I have learned so much, its unbelievable and your podcasts are super interesting, great work :) Thank you!! God Bless.
Mel Robins is always so insightful! Heard a lot of great advice in this episode that I can apply in the current situation where I am constantly facing self-doubt and deep anxiety. Even though start practicing meditation it seems like it will never go away. I hope it would be as easy as it sounds.
Two of my most favorite guys. I have a dream of one day sharing a stage with Mel and being interviewed by Lewis. I relate a lot to your life story. After losing all my life savings and hitting rock bottom I had to learn what it really matters in life and how to reinvent myself. Keep inspiring people Lewis and Mel!!!!
Love you both! What a great episode. All so true. The realness and vulnerability ❤ And Mel's mum! It never even occurred to me that some people may not want to grow. This has opened my mind. Thanks guys!❤
I was a victim of identity theft (hubby and I both)...we lost everything. Now, here I am at 55, starting completely over. We both were devastated. It's been almost 5 years and we still haven't gotten on our feet. I want to know how to get out of this hole. How do I go about creating my whole world when all around is chaos? Oh, there are so many questions I have. She triggered me when she said she has ADD, and anxiety. I do too. It amazes me how together she is.
love the name of the new podcast... What the mel?... Always love her wisdow, thanks lewis for this content... amazing your podcast always help me in some dark moments, I can not thank you enough.... God bless you and every person you interview.
This was really great! The parts I liked best were about overcoming self-doubt since I suffer from that. And that you have to love yourself because even if you achieve the celebrity status, it won't be enough if you don't love yourself. That was a good reminder of that. I listen to your Podcasts all the time.
I am grateful for having given myself the time to listen to this today! Or should I say night cause I’m in Spain visiting my parents and grandma. Wow! It’s funny how the law of attraction works. As I was mixing some Bach flowers and getting a self reiki session to worki on some self doubts As I’m trying to believe in myself to finish flight school..... I saw a notification and I felt drawn to it! what I liked best of this interview? Let’s just say i noticed it was on repeat and I watched it all over again. 🤩so the whole interview was a gem to me. When she mentioned that she gets angry when she gets interrupted , I imagined him thinking "let me make sure she's completely done talking before i respond " 😂😂😂
It's interesting how Mel talks about personal agency & self-created boundaries and undoing past stories, but spends the end of the interview talking about groups of people allowing others to dictate ones actions/thoughts, overall fear, and maybe worries of rejection. Also not sure what public policy allows murder and what can be done differently. #notwhitehere
Great interview! Love Mel! She always brings the fire! Quick question...In this day and age are there too many adult listeners offended with "passionate language"? Hearing the "bleeps" tells me the demographic needs to be coddled.
Lewis, you have great guest, so, let me ask you a question. Why do they and you talk about the negatives of your past, is it to sell the positive? Have you ever had a guest who talked about the positive and never about the negative? Woulda book sell itself, if, there were only good positive words in it?
At 64 years young African American, and still can’t seem to educate myself. To know that something in my past happen, being told Stupid, I never make since in what I’m trying to say, need to go back to school. These words were told to me, and I still can’t get it together. Fire from a job, lost my husband of 28 years, sitting at home drinking everyday, always finding things that pisses me off always yelling, always giving my opinionI, want to break these patterns. Love to hear from you🤷🏽♀️
I, unfortunately, did review the whole video of George being tortured, now it is burned in my heart and hard to let the vision go. My statement on my facebook page basically states with the viewing of the whole video, the killing was intentional, not once did George try to struggle, it was without a doubt the police officers intention was to use George as an example of whose ego is larger than another, for those who did the video and onlookers. The other police officers chanted to George, "who is the big man now" not sure if that is exact words anymore, I do not want to ever view that video again but just trust me the whole incident, the officer who did the choking must be tried for murder and the other police officers chanting egging on the officer doing the choking must be tried for manslaughter at a minimal. We need to set an example to the system NO ONE WILL TOLERATE THE KILLINGS ANYMORE! The officers need to be tried as examples for all of the police systems they cannot kill anyone, especially intentionally as George was. What is even more God awful, the officers did not even try to resuscitate George, they dragged his limp body towards the gurney disrespectfully. I normally do not comment on these kinds of events, but omg enough is enough, the last choking it was said there will be a change in police policy, it was just words...no more words there must be action, period.
@Paul Newcomb Paul, I respect your comment, however before you make your assumption, view the video, George never made any struggle, none whatsoever from the beginning when the police first placed handcuffs on George and no struggle till his death. When you view the video the police officer doing the choking and the police officer's egging on the one doing the choking, the one doing the choking looked straight at the onlookers and the one taking the video with no concern over their cries to let George breath and George begging I can't breath. Now, when these police officers go to trial, they will need individuals such as yourself to provide any doubt on the jury. So you go ahead and keep your stand in your belief, without judgment. However, again, watch the video in its entirety. The only reason, only reason I even viewed the video was I wanted to see for myself if it was an accident. Without making an assumption towards your comment what is in your head or heart for the experience George endured, I did not want to believe anything lessor then it was an accident. It was not, how the officer looked at the onlookers.......it was my job as a mediator, I am trained (and it is my intuitive nature) I had to and still do read people for their truth what I say is how I believe it.
For others and their views comments towards me personally, this will be my last response I will provide, this is "my" stand and the officer is going to be very lucky I would not be chosen for the jury. I am George's voice, just like Beloved abused animals I am their voice and I stand by this!
Good video love to meet you any one on videos with people who have Dyslexicer and ask them how to find how we can find our purpose and Talents as most of us forget what we love to do
What was your favorite part of the interview?
My favorite part was the connecting reactions to childhood experiences (trauma).
My least favorite was the censor bleeps - they are very loud. Perhaps just mute the audio, not insert a disruptive sound.
Love Mel Robbin's raw honesty in this episode
Explaining how trauma is not just from conflicts of war. The way she explained That AA’s have live in unrealized trauma.
Fire from a job, lost my husband of 28 years, sitting at home drinking everyday, always finding things that pisses me off always yelling, always giving my opinionI, want to break these patterns. Love to hear from you🤷🏽♀️
I have dyslexia and really bad at managing people. Mostly i hate delegating.
