I was depressed on finasteride and convinced of PFS and the drugs depresssive qualities and was about to quit it until i stumbled on your videos. I watched pretty much all your hair loss videos in one night. next morning anxiety was gone, depression was gone and feeling optimistic about continued use. ive been losing my hair since 16 im now 27 . I can tell you its extremely easy to fall into depression when youre losing hair at a young age. Finasteride or not.. i took prozac in the early days but nothing can substitute the damage of losing your hair sometimes its finasteride.. rightfully so it can take 2 years to get full results from it. Hair recovery is a very long painful process. Not saying some people dont get extreme side effects but i can firmly say hairloss is often the root cause for depression more often than not.
Great Video Kevin, Been on Fin for almost 20 months. Crown was 2" round bald now almost fully covered. Overall density thicker (wasn't bad before). It has also grown a little round the front too. This video motivated me a LOT to start treatment. I agree about the huge amount of fear in this drug, which is why I didn't start it right away. Only side effects I have is my orgasms are slightly less intense than before. Been a month on finesteride, hair is shedding more otherwise everything's fine
Hasnain Siraj No side effects at all. It’s been about a month and a half of taking 1mg a day. My shedding in the shower has already drastically decreased so i’m pretty happy so far.
I’ve never been a “comment-er” on RUclips vids but I feel strongly enough about this subject I feel I should share my experience for all the men out there on the fence about this drug. 2 years ago I took the leap and got on fin. After months of research of course. I went into it like any long term plan or goal. I took baby steps and monitored how I felt and looked weekly. I started off using the smallest dose possible. 0.25 once a week! I made a decision to not increase it after a few months because I felt I was seeing a difference with very little side effects. In fact, I think any “side effects” I may have felt could have been literally caused by anything including placebo. My advice for anyone either on the drug or thinking about taking the drug would be to first define what your goal is and secondly develop a plan and stick to it. It’s all about consistency over the long term. Don’t let fear make decisions for you.
Garret Watson most of the side effects(not all) such as depression, anxiety, Low lobido and erectile dysfunction are actually linked to psychological issues. I’m not saying that Finasteride doesn’t cause all these problems but the fact that all these problems can be traced to psychology means that Finasteride aren’t necessary the root of these problems. All I can say is talk to your doctor or a few Doctors, ask them about their patients who are taking Finasteride and the % of them having side effects/ Long term use etc. It would give you a peace of mind although side effects do happen only a small percentage will be affected, it is up to you whether you want to take the small risk for a large benefit and stay away from the internet, the internet is anecdotal!!!
And to add many medicine, not only Finasteride has side effects, medicine for diabetes, high blood pressure and antidepressant has side effects too. My dad has been taking medicine for his high blood pressure for years and his libido and erectile are still fine, I just had a younger Brother recently
9:23 that's a very powerful statement! I'm thinking of starting finasteride. I'm 32 and have thinning on crown. It started at 23 but has been stable for years. I just started derma-needling and minoxidil. I really feel that if I lost more hair and went bald, it would absolutely destroy me mentally forever. It just makes sense to take it because honestly being destroyed mentally from going bald is in my opinion just as bad as the side effects of finasteride. Think about it...you have a higher risk of going bald and being destroyed mentally, lose confidence, lose your identity and sexual appeal etc. Vs. the minimal 1% side effects of finasteride. It just makes logical sense to take it!
Hi Gib, how bad was your thinning at 23? It just stayed the same till you were 32 and then start to get bad suddenly or did it slowly get worse the whole time? Did you start taking fin? How have the results been for you? Any side effects? Thanks!
@@algo2957 thinning was very slow over the years and got to the point of scalp showing. I never even acknowledged it until I saw a photo of myself. 28 yo, 2 years on Finasteride, and my hair loss as STOPPED. Completely. Hair is thicker and fuller than ever. Went from constant shedding every day, loose hairs falling in my face all day, clogging the shower drain etc. Now drain is almost completely clear every night after shower and shampooing. I will say this, it took a long time. Well over a year to see results. The key is to stick with it and not give up.
Jason Lake Did you suffer from hair thinning? If so do you noticeably see and feel that your hair has grown fuller and thicker? I’m really suffering badly here. Thanks.
Killazua it would be especially bad if if skipped a day of showering and it was oily. I’d wake up and my hair would just look so thin and patchy. Lots of scalp showing and many many hairs falling to the touch. Shoulders were always covered in hair so I wouldn’t wear white. Now I can (gently) tug at my hair and NO strands come out. And I LOVE being able to shampoo and not see barely any hair in the drain when I’m done. This stuff saved my ass man I’m serious.

You are a great guy and your hair looks fantastic. I use finasteride for 3 months and results are practically insane. It looks like that my hair changed, because now I can grow them longer.
Kevin, sir, you are amazing. It's my 8th day on resumption of finasteride, zero side effects, and this is because of watching your videos. I was one of those people who complained of side effects AFTER ONE DOSE. Also, other than the 8 days of finasteride resumption, I had been on fin+min topical for 2 full months ALREADY. Again, zero fucking sides. FUCK fear mongers and no, don't just "accept it".
22 yo, been on finasteride for a month. My hair feels thicker, before I was getting to a point where my hair was feeling thin, and it didn’t look good at times and looked light and dull for what it usually looked like. Idk if it’s in my head, but I swear I have some baby hairs I can feel around my hair line or where it should start. As for side effects, I have not lost sex drive, if anything it may have increased but probably still the same, same for erections. I sometimes feel tingling in the testicles but that’s been it so far. My dosage is 3 times a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday). My shedding may have also increased a bit but per my research that’s normal as the medication is working.
Hopefully I don’t jinx myself but i have been taking fin for almost almost 2 months to the day, and my shedding has significantly reduced over the last couple of days. I started taking fin everyday a week ago. My hair feels very good as well. Hopefully I get more regrowth but if I don’t and my shedding continues to stop it’s still a win. Don’t be afraid to start guys, thanks Kevin for helping me be more sure of starting.
Officially my 3 month mark. I have been taking fin daily for just over a month from the 3x a week I started on, and as for sides they are the same as in my previous posts in the thread (luckily none). Earlier in May I took a supplement for 2 days and it had a lot of caffeine. My shedding really ramped up temporarily but I didn’t take it again. Some days I find I have less shedding than others but today I feel my hair looks and feels the best it has since I’ve started with fin. The baby hairs I was talking about in my first post at my original hair line have definetley grown more and I can feel other hairs on my scalp coming in longer as well near the crown. Hopefully my shedding continues to reduce but it’s obvious the shedding I have had hasn’t all been bad shedding as my hair has definetley regrown what I was shedding and it came back stronger. Only month 3 today so I’m hoping to have more success and hopefully next month I can say shedding has decreased more. Again I started early (vertex 3, 22 yo), but I wish I started last year. Don’t be scared.
Realizing that I am actually starting to bald has been really difficult for me. Went to the doctor. Got my blood work done. As healthy as can be as a 27 year old male. This will be my first time taking a prescription drug, I feel great (besides the balding), I’m fit and eat well. Doctor doesn’t like oral finasterise so prescribed me 0.25% Fin and 5% Min topical. Going to start Jan 1st. Will try to keep this comment updated for all those wondering. Somewhat nervous/scared but I’ve been feeling like shit the last two weeks and would rather try to fight it rather than let it happen. Worst thing that happens is I do get side effects and I quit.
Hey guys, it’s been almost two months (7 weeks). No sides so far, I have been getting gains on my hairline so far. Nothing on the crown yet. Shedding quite a bit after week 4 and continuing to shed significantly which is good. Will continue to update this comment as the weeks progress. Glad I am on topical, it takes about 10 minutes to apply once a day in the evening.
Month three. Maybe slight labido decrease, hard to say since anytime I need to perform I have no issues. Getting good results on my hairline, still nothing on my crown/diffuse thinning. No longer shedding at all.
A certan level of confidence is fine however to conclusively say that the symptoms of finasteride don't happen would require conclusive evidence stating this is not the case. This probably never going to happen but yeah I'm just pointing that out. Anecdotally I've found no side effects from finasteride going on 5 months so far.
He’s right though. There is no evidence to support that Finasteride gives you permanent side effects. That’s why they have clinical trials. There is always a pattern with medication. That’s how they can determine the percentage rate of how likely you are to get side effects, through tests and studying patterns. Medications don’t just randomly give you something new on its own. Remember no one claimed ‘post Finasteride syndrome’ until 20 years after it had been around! Medication aren’t some cursed thing like pennywise the clown from IT who only strikes ever 36 years. Clearly this ‘post Finasteride syndrome’ is related to the INDIVIDUAL. Clearly there is some underlying problem with that individual that has caused PFS, whether that be mentally or physically. Absolutely no evidence whatsoever to support that the drug Finasteride can independently cause long term side effects, absolutely none.
First of all, I love that in a lot of your videos you have some kind of The Witcher merchandise showing, haha. I'm a huge fan myself. Now to the point. This is how I see the cost benefit of Finasteride side effect. For some time I considered taking Fin, but then I thought to myself that my receding hairline wasn't that bad, and that the fin sides (as well as pfs which I've read on these UNSCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN forums) outweighed the benefits. Now that my receding hairline has also begun to become thin, I finally took the step to contact my doctor, and ask about a prescription, and this is why: If I don't take fin, I know I will become more and more bald, and thereby become depressed, have a lower libido etc. However, if I take fin I know I will have around 2-3% chance of suffering from the same. So what my point is, is that ofc I will suffer from depression if I become bald by the age of 26 and single. But I would only have a 2% chance by taking Fin to become depressed.
That's exactly my opinion. I'm already depressed about having a receding hairline, my lack of confidence already impedes me of having a love life. What do I have to lose?
@@darkcyberia666 I know the feel bro. Even though I know this sounds cliché, confidence IS key. However, I'm still taking up the good fight against the Norwood reaper. If Fin will just thicken up my hairline, I would be happy. If not, I'ma probably getting a HT at some point. I do not really aim for that norwood 0. I actually think a widows peak hairline look better on adult men.

Kevin, hope you don't mind but I've got (what I hope is) one last question re Minoxidil. I apply twice in 24 hours. I wake up at 6, train for an hour and then apply it after showering at around 7:30. At 12:00, I train again (I'm part of my university boxing team and we train twice daily), which is followed by another shower. I then do not apply Minoxidil again until I get home at around 19:00. On such days, does this mean that I'm not benefitting from Minoxidil between the shower following my second training session and the evening's application i.e. between around 14:00 and 19:30? Does the shower wash out the Minoxidil or will the scalp already have absorbed it?
Hey, don't worry about it and yeah your scalp should of absorbed the minoxidil in that amount of time. The shower will wash out the inactive ingredients in minoxidil like the alcohol and PG but the actual active ingredient minoxidil will be absorbed so don't worry about it.
i realized i was thinning, receding, and my hair was falling out a lot in the shower. I'm only 23 so I was pretty sad that this was happening so soon. I did some research on what to do, and along with other resources I found Kevin. Thanks to Kevin, I started taking Finasteride 2 months ago and my hair seems to be falling a little less. Absolutely zero symptoms after 2 months. Excited to see where I am in 6 months! Thanks Kev
Hey, Kevin. I have a question. Does working out increase shedding, in your opinion? Does it affect hairloss in any way. This is without any supplements or steroids, just a regular 5 day a week, 1 hour and a half at a time program and a high protein diet. Like does that amount of stress on the body or natural increase of testostorone screw UP the hair, or does the increased circulation actually HELP the hair, if it even increases circulation to the scalp at all? I am currently on Dutasteride. Also, what are your thoughts on microneedling or treatments with products like the CapillusPro hat? Thanks in advance. God bless.
Hey, working out is fine. Any increase in androgens is too acute and too minor to cause any hair loss. Working out does not help hair loss either as there is already plenty of circulation to the scalp without it and if blood flow played a role then hypertension would cause hair loss, yet we see people with terrible cardiovascular health who have great hair. Definitely work out, but don't do so thinking its going to stop hair loss or anything, its benign in that regard. Microneedling is good because it creates small punctures in the scalp that can help with topicals like minoxidil. As for laser treatment, I'm pretty skeptical. I know some people claim it works but I'm not convinced. I tried it at a clinic in the early 2000's that was really expensive and it didn't do anything, even with the very powerful machine they had. I guess the active ingredient is supposed to be light but for me it didn't do a thing.
@@haircafekevin Wow, man. Thanks a bunch for taking the time. Cool, yeah. I'm gonna be hitting the gym for sure then! I was worried it would ruin my progress hair wise. I don't believe I need Minox yet, but I was thinking about starting microneedling twice a week and applying castor oil when I do it. You think that would be a waste of time and effort, without the Minox? I already use Regenepure Shampoo and I love that crap! 🤘🏻😎
@@andresvalle809 No problem and while microneedling alone couldn't hurt I don't think its very effective if its not used with a topical, it might have other benefits but I don't think there is enough evidence to suggests it would help with hair growth. Not trying to discourage you but that's just my opinion. an alpha-5 inhibitor like finasteride is good enough for most people and dutasteride is even stronger so I think you're in good shape for fighting hair loss.
I had been using it for 7 months and then stopped to take it since i was dealing with some depression problem that i linked to finasteride. It had none effect on my erection whatsoever, just a slight, like quite small, libido decreasing moments i felt was probably just normal as everyone experiences time to time. Therefore, i had testicle pain for 2 week or so but ceased after. In addition to that, important to say that i have read side effects beforehand, even though i thought a lot about it, didn't have any prominent sides. When i used it, the outcomes were so nice; hairs came back alive, weren't faded but shiny and regrowth some at front side. Thinking now, i was working so much in those days, and depression was probably because of that. I still have feeling of depressed sometimes, and i think it's because of my disposition. So all in all, it is not a poisonus stuff to try as others hugely exaggerationg, side effects were so mild on my behalf.

Polichem has one with a pretty high fin concentration but it works. You can also compound your own by crushing pills into a solvent. Really though, just start at low dose orally like 0.25 mg a day if you are worried about sides. Suppresses almost as much DHT with lower risk of sides.
@@tehnorthface4346 Its because side effects from fin are not caused by lower DHT otherwise everybody would get side effects. DHT is important for pubertal development but after that it is a trash hormone that mostly just gives us acne, enlarges our prostate and causes hair loss. That is why millions of men safely suppress their DHT with no issues whatsoever. The cause of finasteride's side effects are not fully understood but I imagine it probably has more to do with neuro steroids than sex hormones.

This evening (about an hour after watching your video), I had an appointment with my doctor about a sports injury. He noted that I have been taking Finasteride for 1.5 years and "strongly discourage[d]" me from continuing with it despite me not having experienced any significant or adverse sides. He explained that it's because there exists so little data on the long term effects. He said that have few apprehensions around prescribing it to older patients (the long term effects, whatever they may be, never being relevant because the patient only has a couple decades left to live) but that no one knows what the effects of the drug will be on someone who has been taking it since their mid 20s when they reach 50+. Admittedly, it did give me pause for thought. I wonder if you have any comment.

Hey Kevin, last question re the Minoxidil shed: Should I be worried that the area to which I have applied the Rogaine foam is looking quite a bit worse than it did before I began application of the product? I know that you said the hairs regrow but it's difficult to fathom that as many hairs as have fallen out will regrow. I'm also worried because, despite you saying that the shed will stabilize in 3 months, the Rogaine pamphlet says to contact your doctor if still shedding after 2 weeks and to expect the shed to stop after 6 weeks. I'm 5 weeks in.
The pamphlet is just based on the original clinical trials during the 80's. It also said not to apply it in the front which we know isn't true. It seems hard to believe but it will stabilize eventually but make sure you are also using an anti androgen. Cosmetically look into toppik to provide some coverage temporarily, just make sure you wash it off before applying minox.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but no matter what, doesn't finasteride lower preg. and other neurosteroids which are vital for cognition and mood? I've also seen studies identifying decreased neurogenesis. Continued useo of lowered neurosteroids isn't something you would necessarily 'feel', but it may worsen cognitive function over time, theoretically. I am at a higher risk for Alzheimer's due to the E4 gene so this scares me significantly. How are people not worried about this? Would love some incite on this. I'm not trying to fearmonger or attack people who believe fin. is safe, truly, I'm just scared.
i only want to stop hair loss, i still have head full of hair but the shed is too much what dose do you think i should start with ? and for how long until i notice the stop of shed in ur opinion?
Just start with a small dose, 0.25 mg is finasteride a day (after you speak to your doctor). Shedding is temporary and will stabilize after a few months. Fin is a great stand alone treatment.
Yo I have taken it today for the first time. This video here was the first step of me overcoming the fear mongering stories and after I watched the hair loss show I was fully convinced to give fina a shot. I'm still a extremely thick nw2/2,5 so if I keep it I'm happy. I can still do almost everything with my hair. A bit like Harry styles. So thank you for this video!
@@CatLoverx900 I'm nearly 4 months in. No side effects besides maybe very slightly reduced libido and I'm not even sure about that. Other than that it's good. Maintained and my hair got thicker and I even gained a 1/4-1/2 of a Norwood because the miniaturized hairs got thicker as well and still do. In addition I started minoxidil later on and I think this gives me a bit of regrowth as well. I'm excited for how it will look after month 6,9 and 12.
Ballislife99 I think I’m gonna go for it through that keeps program and do like 0.5 every other day I’m sooo worried from all these horror stories. I appreciate you getting back.
Hey man! Quick question: Can creatine be taken with finasteride? If creatine is known to increase DHT and thus speed up MPB, can finasteride negate these effects? would they be safe to take together? Just wondering if you have personal experience with it, thanks!
Yes, creatine can be taken with finasteride. It is not a drug, it is a supplement naturally found in food and that your body even produces in low doses.
Hey Kevin, I took my first pill after doubting for five fucking years, as we all know MInoxidil wasn't doing the job anymore. I realized if I wouldn't take it today, I'd eventually take it out of desperation in a few years when my hair condition would be a total disgrace. Your videos had been really encouraging, let's see how it goes now. Cheers!
@@pitbullsami8475 Hey, got nipple pain two days after and had to stop before gyno started it's on way. However, I knew well beforehand it was a likely scenario due to my previous bloodwork showing borderline High T and E2. No D sides. Good news is I'm still holding onpretty well, dut mesotherapy did wonders halting my hairloss with zero sides! And it's a shame I'm this lazy because when I dermaroll for a few weeks hair thickness skyrockets. Can't complain really when last year thought I'd be bald by now.
@@ivanplis5554 so you stopped taking finasteride immediately after noticing pain? Also, what is High T and E2? How much more likely are you to develop sides if those 2 things are high?
Hey, and if you are already on finasteride then sure give stemoxydine a try. It is not as strong as minoxidil but your hair doesn't become addicted to it like minox and stemoxydine is a much better solvent. Go ahead and use it but make sure you are using an anti androgen too.
Hey mate, how did you realise that finasteride helped you? I mean you got a hair transplant which cured your baldness on the forehead but what did the finasteride actually do since your hairtransplant? Thanks in advance!
I've been suffering from PFS for 11 years. Only took the medication for 2 weeks. Completely destroyed my life. I follow different groups/ communities, in some of them , some members have even committed suicide. I've considered that as an option too. Anyways I'm not here to come off as a martyr , I'm just here to make awareness of those side effects. I'm watching this video now because it's been around on the different communities I follow. One of those communities was created by one person's mother who committed suicide. I can't imagine how devastating could be for her to see somebody out there calling us, the victims, money hungry. I've never even considered the idea of a legal action. It's all worthless. I just.want to be back to normal, but I guess this is a life lesson I have to go through or probably some kind of karma for something that I could have done in my past.
Uhhh there's no way only two weeks of this drug caused you 11 years of troubles afterwards. Your body was already messed up to begin with...sorry to burst your bubble. Do you eat healthy? Do you exercise? Do you get proper sleep? Did you check to make sure your hormones were balanced before taking finasteride? What about checking your hormone levels after finasteride? Do you have high estrogen? Are you overweight? Does your family have a history of heart problems or any specific diseases? The list could go on and on and on. Stop blaming the drug when you only took it for two weeks and look at all the other variables as well!
What is the dose you're on? How old are you and when did you start? I am 33 and always had a widows peak genetically but it's been getting worse since 29... slowly. Now the crown is thin but still there. I always keep my hair buzzed with a zero and always have pretty much but now that I think I CAN NOT grow it if I choose to.... I want to save it. I've started going to a place for laser therapy and it's been 5 months so far. I was thinking maybe adding PRP or something and now maybe finasteride after watching your videos.... but do you think I should wait until I see the full results from the laser or start now? The guy at the clinic said FULL RESULTS at 2 year mark.... but I should start to see something between 6-12. Any input would be great. Thanks.
I don't really have much faith in laser therapy. I did it myself way back in the day and it was extremely expensive and didn't do squat. Same thing with PRP, I think that is too new and experimental for me to hold much stock in. I'd save my money on that and just save up for an FUE, I wish I had done it sooner.
i did have a bad experience with finasteride, i took it for 2 weeks and in the last 4-5 days i was taking it i had a consntant numb pain in the entire genital area, low libido and weak erections, the lower libido could be partly psychological but the pain sure wasnt, im glad to report that i stopped taking it and after like a week everything was back to normal, im sure a lot of the reports you see online are exaggerated or plain fake but im also sure that a lot of those are legit from people who actually got those problems from finasteride, my advice is dont take it on your own be sure to consult your doctor and have him following and testing your hormonal levels etc.. most people can take it without any problems but for some reason some people (like me) cant tolerate, so if you re thinking about it just go to your doctor
I had side effects for about two weeks then they subsided .on the 3rd week! sometimes it’s just your body transitioning to this new drug. I Just hit month 10 no sides
Ok man let’s get in it. Finasteride 3x a week. How long should I expect to see results. Been a couple weeks so far. I also feel like a shed like crazy in the first week. Is this normal ?
Hey Kev, i been on fin daily for 11 months. Think it MIGHT have slowed down my hair loss. But i believe its made my hair a lot thinner? Whats your thoughts?
24 year old here. Going to start on finasteride in the next few weeks. Watching your videos have given me the confidence to get onto it and save my hair. Thank you!
@@jjdutoit5890 update us if anything changes! I'm debating trying Finasteride but I'm afraid of ruining my mental health and libido. @@enthra1728 still good. I feel like the hairs that were thinning are thickening up. My libido is still great. One thing to remember is that the percentage of sexual side effects with finasteride is low. They do exist, but not as scary as the interent makes it out to be. Midway through month 4 now.
I use minoxidil along with fin. I have noticed that I have gotten eye puffiness/wrinkles and facial wrinkles. Do you believe that this is one of the side effects of minoxidil? Or, could it be due to the fact that I have a hard time getting quality sleep?
i like your videos, not just about hair loss, but also about politics. i’d like to see more about working out, lifestyle, and mental health. keep it up!
@@nicolasdellys271 This really sucks. Not all the people have side effects. The drug normally is well tolerated. The rate of having side effects is very low. TV just is sharing the most terrifying and exceptional cases. Anyway if you have one the side effects its generally go off when you stop taking the drug. So it's worth to give to the drug a try. I started 2 weeks ago and I didn't notice any side effect, but also it is too early to share any positive effect in hair.
@@mrincredible3241 After six months of treatment definitely I could say that I have no shedding. The first months you don't see much difference. Give time to the drug (6~12 months) and be patient.
Thank you so much Kevin. You gave me the balls to finally start using Finasteride. I've been on it for a month, 0.5g a day with no side effects. I will bump up to 1g a day at the 3 month mark if I still don't have any side effects.
Hey Kevin I was thinking about going vegan as I heard it’s great for Anti Aging and skin health, any advice on the supplements I should be taking while on a vegan diet?
Appreciate that man, I actually am the little brother in my family. My older brother was an abusive asshole so I try to be what I wished he would be when I reach out to others.
I am taking 1mg propecia 3 times a week on M/W/F from past 6 months. Hairfall stopped completely after 1.5 month of use. My question is - Am I suppose to take break from finastride after a certain period of time to avoid buildup of finastride in the system? Can I safely continue on the dose of 1mgX3 per week for lifetime without taking any break ?
Hey Kev just a question , would taking 1mg of finasteride 3 times a week be good , I heard that 1mg a day is too much and is one of the reasons people get the side effects
Yeah that should be fine. Finasteride has a short half life but it keeps DHT levels low for 48 to 72 hours. Lots of people take it that way and it works.
I take 1mg daily as I’m trying to maximise results in the shortest time possible lol.. but I’ll probably switch to 3 times a week in the future as the costs would work out cheaper
Great video as always! Quick question, how long after starting Fin did you reach your peak in terms of hair improvement? And has it stayed the same since then? Thanks!
Guys I love Kevin Mann's style and as someone who did try finasteride based on this as well as other videos I'm here to tell you that this drug does have severe side effects. I was like a lot of you thinking the PFS community were over the top and dare I say attention seekers however currently going through the side effects after only taking two 1mg pills on Wednesday then Friday I cannot sleep,i have a very weird and uncomfortable feeling inside my body and I do have ED. I'm hoping and praying that the side effects do go away as I've only taken the pill twice but this is just to say the side effects are nothing to joke about.
Omar S I’m very sorry to hear that. Out of curiosity, are you healthy? Sometimes you can get side effects from Finasteride because if you have a high body fat you already have high amount of Estrogen so when you reduce your DHT levels from taking Finasteride your Estrogen levels can increase and cause your hormones to be out of balance, resulting in the side effects
@@TheArticulatingAnoraksPodcast Hi Will, To be honest in not in great shape I do have wider hips than a man should and a bit of fat on my thighs aswell but needless to say I wasn't really aware that your body type could effect the probability of getting side effects. Yesterday marked 3 weeks since I took the first pill, Friday will be 3 weeks since the last pill and Saturday would be 3 weeks since I had the anxiety attack. Since then my symptoms have fluctuated some days are good some really bad. Water fasting does seem to help. Been told before I can say for certain that I do have persistent side effects I should give it 3 months but the way things are going especially with my insomnia, can only manage 4 hours a night, I'm sure I do have PFS but time will tell I suppose 👍
Just started finasteride. On day 3. Thank you for the video and intelligent discussion. I was taking extra virgin pumpkin seed oil and and saw palmetto, so when I take finasteride I just imagine I am taking a much stronger, effective version of these two things. $20 for a 3 months supply is very reasonable.
Hi Kevin, first of all thanks for your great information. Second, i have a question about taking finasteride again. The first time i started with finasteride I was 21 taking it for one year, although i had really good hair. After that i stopped taking it for some reason. Now I am almost 27 and notice the thinning of my Hair. Do you think it has still a good effect on my hair like the first time? I would be glad If you could answer. Many thanks Greetings from Germany
Guten tag! Yes, you can absolutely start it again. I have stopped it before periodically for stupid reasons and everything I have lost from stopping it I have regained from getting back on it. So long as your hair isn't completely gone you can easily get some strong regrowth.
@@haircafekevinThanks Bro, do you think it makes sense to do a blood test first to see if the DHT is on a normal level, or is the level of the DHT irrelevant because of the sensitivity? I Hope you understand what i mean :D. Second question, do you really think that it is possible to get the lost hair back or only to keep the hair stability, because it blocks mainly the enzyme and doesn't stimulate the Hair follicle. To be honest, i don't want to take minoxidil yet because many people say it makes your Hair get addicted. Is Finasteride and Regenpure enough?
@@tommy_1103 Yeah a blood test for DHT is not necessary because hair loss sufferers do not have different levels of DHT, it all comes down to hair follicle sensitivity. About 33 percent of people regrow some hair with finasteride. You can't regrow an area that is slick bald like the temples if you're a Norwood 3 for instance but if you have some weak vellus hairs that are there still it is possible that starting finasteride can help them go terminal. Regenepure won't do much if anything at all in my opinion as the active ingredient ketoconazole doesn't stay on the scalp long enough to be effective (nizoral cream is a better choice if you want to use ketoconazole) but finasteride is enough for most people.
Bro your hair looks amazing. Wtf. My hair is still in tact for the most part and I'm jealous of yours even if it's a transplant. What are your thoughts on the "mature hairline" thing? I'm 22 and noticing some mild recessions on my temples, but there are still tiny hairs growing and no shedding; it's slightly crescent shaped. Is the mature hairline thing a myth?
Mature hairline is just a euphemism for a receding hairline in my opinion. I would say it's a Norwood 2, slightly receded but not enough for most people to know. Thank you kindly for those compliments btw.
I started Finasteride last month, but not on recipe. Just Bought online. So I went to my doctor to explain my problems and get a recipe to make sure I have the real thing. Doctor denied giving me finasteride, because side effects seemed to extreme.....
@@jackmilo1 mostly my lost was on top, about the size of a quarter ,, it covered it up pretty good ,,,,,,, Let me give you a tip,, once your on it don't stop, if you forget a day here and there no big problem , just make sure you take it about the same time everyday give or take about an hour
i think of it this way indecisiveness is by far the worst thing u can do. here are the scenarios: worrying about how your thinning hair looks and spending hours thinking about it and wsaste unknown $$ and being very insecure .. and see ur hair progressively get even worst and think 'what if' when it's too late or just pop the pill forget about it, let it run its course. if u get the side effects, then stop it or alter dosage. indecisiveness and insecurity and regret are already a demasculine traits to have. that's probably going to lower ur androgens regardless lol
Great video Kevin, I completely agree that Finasteride side effects are massively over exaggerated and seems like the people that propagate these lies are people that took the drug too late and are jealous of the idea that young people that are proactive could save their hair. I also wanted to know if Finasteride maintained what you had or did it thicken your existing hair as well? Keep up the great work pal!
Thanks man and I definitely had some regrowth with finasteride even after I started to lose ground with minoxidil. It gave my head just more overall volume.
What do you think about the body dysmorphia that seems to be rampant on forums like /r/tressless? You have these guys claiming that fin/dut don't work and they're losing ground, yet when they show pics of themselves you'll see they're a dense NW1.
It's definitely a real thing. Rich Piana had a mutant like physique but he still admitted that he felt like he was too small. Many of these guys will go to extreme lengths to improve their image but they are almost never satisfied. Society as a whole has not done a good job of bringing this problem to light and many still don't take it seriously.
Fin was a fucking nightmare for me, the sides were devastating, I’m pretty well banking on a combo of RU and PRP to save my hair otherwise it’s game over.
What are your thoughts about combating hair loss while on TRT, will finasteride/dutasteride be enough with test levels around the upper physiological limit? I'm a little afraid of taking too many medications to counter each other
I think the only way you're going to prevent hairloss while on trt doses is to do what Derek form more plate more dates did and that is to apply a daily does of minoxidil with ru58841. I bet if you combined dutasteride, minoxidil, and ru58841 together while on trt then you could avoid hairloss all together because dutasteride would block about 90% of the dht internally while ru58841 would protect the hair follicles and then of course minoxidil will help to promote hair growth. I think Derek has tried this combination but derek has mentioned that ru58841 helped maintain his hair while on huge amounts of gear. With that being said from him leads me to believe the ultimate combo to work against hairloss while on trt would have to be dutasteride, ru58841, and minoxidil. Havent' tried it yet cuz im natural and just starting out with finasteride. But if I stop my hairloss then I plan to try this out with some trt.
I would agree but to anyone reading this if you haven’t started minoxidil yet I would only start as a last resort. Imo minox has worse sides than fin or ru and it becomes such a pain in the ass.
Stupid question. So you rather beleave those who spread these negative stupid rumors about finasteride than those thousands and thousands of people(including)me who are having great experience and benefit from this drug. There was a trial about finasteride over many years with a group of 1000 men taking finasteride and another 1000 taking a placebo. Of course no one knew in which group he was. After the trial 1,8% of the finasteride group claimed to experience side effects. And guess what.1,3% of the placebo group had them as well...... To sum up you can say that finasteride is a very save drug. My advice for all who suffer from male pattern hair loss.Go and see an expert like a dermatologist instead of getting information from some wannabe doctors in the internet. They are all screwed!
I have Side effects, for 2 years now, so I know what I'm talking about! Can you certify to me that the tests have been realised by completely independent organizations without influence from any lobbies or labs? Don't you have in the USA some medical health scandals like opiate drugs for exemple ? 200 deaths per day I think in the US. nice your FDA! FYI the European union begin to recognize the serious side effects of Finasterine. How much do you have from the lab Merck for your interventions on the web? So Sergio Gonzales, your answer is so credulous and therefore very stupid ! Looking forward to see you soon on : twitter.com/pfsfoundation?lang=fr
Sergio Gonzales you’re possibly just angry cos your hormones are all over the place from finasteride,Most people have sides on finasteride, why would people make up things like” I can no longer get an erection” ya people just make up these stupid rumors ,If you’re not having sides that’s great ,but you can only speak for yourself.
Nicolas Dellys Not every finasteride produced by Merck. They only make Propecia and Proscar. Everyone who are against this drug are talking as if Merck makes all Finasterides. That was before 2014-2015. In the UK there are other 3-4 companies producing generic Finasteride.
I have ED, I'm not saying it is from finasteride. I really dont know. But most doctor agree it most likely have an effect on libido for some men. AND my doctor told me to stop taking firasteride. The question is weather ED persist and for how long. I disagree with the title. Because looking back my libido getting worse overtime. I never pay attention to it until I cant get any erection at all. So please take note if you have any libido decline over time.
Yeah I also just started but 33 days ago for me. Good luck to the both of us! Keep us posted on your progress. I am still experiencing some hairloss in the shower, but hopeful that I'll notice a difference by month 3.
@@TK-mh1mo What kind of side effects? You could possibly try a different brand of generic finasteride. I got mine from GetRoman.com. I was told by the doctor that you can take it on an empty stomach or with food as it doesn't matter. I almost always take it on an empty stomach as I do intermittent fasting. Only side effect I've noticed is a decreased libido but I can still get it up just fine.
Nothin2it day one I had increased libido. day 2 extremely high libido, highly stimulated, euphoric, slight ache down south. Day 3 i was tired and basically didn’t notice libido however I was very social, and the horrible dht/inflammation itch went away completely and still hasn’t returned yet. Day 4 and 5 basically my libido worsened until it was gone and I developed Ed. No mind body connection at all and no sensitivity. It’s been 3 days off now and my libido is coming back, along with the mind/body connection and everything is working fine today. This is propecia 1mg btw and I don’t want to cause fear or anything to anyone that wants to try fin, just be careful as finasteride is extremely potent for some people like myself.
Did you try half dosing it? There's been studies that showed .5mg of finasteride was almost as effective a 1mg of finasteride. Matter of fact my first couple days I was half dosing it to ease into the drug and like you I actual experienced an increase in libido before it changed over to a decrease in libido. Before giving up on the drug completely I would start at a quarter dose and work up to a half dose and decide from there what to do. I'm not a doctor but I did start at half a dose before going the one full gram and I'm okay.
If using dutasteride and having prp treatments, would using testosterone cip or enthate only, would the treatments still have an effect as DHT A & B are 90% being blocked pluss the plasma is feeding the hair frolics direct ? Thank you
Hi Kevin, thanks again for another great video, much appreciated! On a little bit of a tangent, I would be really grateful for your extensive knowledge if possible. I have recently left the lid off some Minoxidil a few times over night. Do you think this would deteriorate the pharmacological action of it to a significant extent so as to make it inactive? Thanks gain Mark UK :-)
Thanks dude and to answer your question, no don't worry about it. Minoxidil is very molecularly stable as it's designed to be on the scalp for a long time and withstand the elements like the sun.
Is it possible that post-finasteride syndrome is confused with the long time the drug remains on the skin? It is said that a simple dose of 1mg can remain on the skin for at least 30 days, so daily intake would lead to an over-accumulation in the body. In addition, it takes 3-6 months for the body to rid itself of the drug.
This is my story.Started Fin year ago at 4-5 mg/week, no sides, high libido, after 3 months hair regrowth ( I have difusse thining ).Then I started reading about sides on reddit and everywhere only about sides.Next week I have all of them lol.I linked every single thing to Fin.I stopped.Losed all gains. After a year I started again reading about fin, took one pill, got sides ( no fucking sens ).Took care of my diet, got to Gym, avoided stress, did not read anything about fin, started again, libido sky high, higher than before fin.Now everything is fine.Nocibo is real, dont read horror storys online, than probably you will get sides.( Just remember if people would know that Paracetamol side effect is liver damage and Hepatitis, how many people would claim they got sides ? 50% I thing ). Well the side-effects of fin are not only on forums, but also on pharmacy websites. I live in the EU, it's written on a pharmacy website what the side-effects are and that they can remain after stopping fin, although it's written that it's rare.
Hey Kevin. Currently overweight. Working on that through exercise and diet. Any worry about starting Fin now? Or should I wait? Need to jump on something quick.
Hey man, just want to know your thoughts on the article: Finasteride Completely Destroyed My Life on the website Medium. It's a pretty extensive article where some dude explains all the awful effects that he's received and how finasteride has supposedly ruined his life. Goes as far as to call Merck evil. How can you explain these symptoms? I want to side with you and take the drug but just want your thoughts.
Hi kevin i have a good question, why in a past video on youtube you commented (finasteride works by chemically castrating yourself) do u have an explanation for that one? are u working for merck or what ?
Back before I did research on fin I used to believe the horror stories. I even stopped taking fin at one point even though I didn't get any side effects out of fear of getting them. I'm better informed now fortunately. I don't remember that comment in particular but I used to believe some really stupid things about finasteride so maybe I did write it.
Hey whats up Kevin, I have a question regarding finasteride: So I started taking it like 4 weeks ago, but I already noticed some sides, and so I decided that I wanted to cut down on the mg...So what I'm doing right now is I'm cutting the 1mg red pills straight down the middle with a cutter and take 0,5mg every day. I already noticed my libido coming back. Now I'm not sure if the pills still work the way theyre supposed to, you know if it dissolves correctly and stuff, bc there is no indicator on the pills where to cut it and the white powder inside isnt covered by the red outer layer. I also havent found anything about it online, so I think I should be good, but just to make sure you know :) Really appreciate your videos btw! great stuff
Hi Kevin. Still loving the vids. Could you possibly do a video specific on finesteride shedding, as I feel this is a very controversial topic among your viewers. I have seen from studies, though minimal, that it can speed up anagen to telogen phases. Thus, converting around 30% of hairs at any given time, rather than 10%, being the average, thus dramatic shedding. I would like a little more knowledge on it. I believe this to be the cause of my shedding. I will shed for a few weeks then it will look great a month later etc and just keeps repeating in a cycle. I’m now just approaching the month 5 mark. I will add that gradually I am seeing results. One side of my hairline has dropped down significant...just waiting further other side lol. So it’s definitely working, just going through ups and downs along the way by the look of it.
I heard you say never start with minox , I been using topical for barely a few months , should I stop and if so should I just do Fin pills? Until I get older and realize it’s not enough then add minox later ? I’m not balding but my temples are receding
Sorry to say but if your temples are receding then you are balding as that is the start of MPB for a lot of people. If you've not experienced any benefits from minoxidil then you can stop, if you have then your hair will return to what it was before you started using minoxidil. You can probably stop it as a few months isn't really enough for any substantial results or alternatively you can stay on minoxidil and start finasteride if you don't mind the commitment. In any case, get on finasteride as minoxidil is not a viable long term treatment as it doesn't do anything about the DHT.
Would you recommend finasteride for a 19 year old? I'm diffuse thinning at a fast rate and my crown is beginning to form a bald spot. Minoxidil unfortunately isn't going to be possible due to certain health complications I have. My T levels are pretty high and I'm confident that finasteride shouldn't affect me with sides. I've not grown in height since 16 and I can grow a full beard so I think my puberty is pretty much done completely. It's really taking a toll on my mental health
Well personally, i have been on finasteride & laser treatment for 10yrs & so far so good. I started @ age 25 since i had noticed thining @ crown. U could try 1 pill day on/off. Good luck✌
tim tale yeah no sides. I feel great lol especially since I no longer worry about my hair all day long. As for results I took monthly pictures for around 7-9 months and I did’t see any difference which is good cause that means it probably stopped my hairloss. I recent just started minoxidil to see if I can get some regrow at my hairline but I would recommend to use fin for 6-12 months and if you don’t get much regrowth I would try minoxidil.
I am 20 years old, norwood 3,5. I have decided to finally stop fearing the side effects that I may nota even experience. Next month I will start taking it, hope I can keep what I have of hair.
I was about in the same boat when I started treatment and the only regret I have is that I didn't start sooner. Congrats on building up the courage to fight the good fight, hope it works for you.

ive been losing my hair since 16 im now 27 .
I’m depressed bc of my hair loss so if I take finasteride at least I’ll be depressed and have hair lmaoo

Just start it and don’t think about it. Don’t wait till it’s too late 👍🏼
Hi Gib, how bad was your thinning at 23? It just stayed the same till you were 32 and then start to get bad suddenly or did it slowly get worse the whole time? Did you start taking fin? How have the results been for you? Any side effects? Thanks!

Went from constant shedding every day, loose hairs falling in my face all day, clogging the shower drain etc. Now drain is almost completely clear every night after shower and shampooing. I will say this, it took a long time. Well over a year to see results. The key is to stick with it and not give up.

A certan level of confidence is fine however to conclusively say that the symptoms of finasteride don't happen would require conclusive evidence stating this is not the case. This probably never going to happen but yeah I'm just pointing that out. Anecdotally I've found no side effects from finasteride going on 5 months so far.
Agreed he’s an ignorant prick

How are you doing on the drug now? How's your hair doing and how are the side effects?
Thanks, Kevin!

Manny S. Did you do a bloodtest, not all hairloss is caused by overproduction of dht
Polichem has one with a pretty high fin concentration but it works. You can also compound your own by crushing pills into a solvent.
Really though, just start at low dose orally like 0.25 mg a day if you are worried about sides. Suppresses almost as much DHT with lower risk of sides.
Kevin Mann why is a lower dose, lower risks of sides? If it does supresses the (almost) same amount of dht?
@@tehnorthface4346 Its because side effects from fin are not caused by lower DHT otherwise everybody would get side effects.
DHT is important for pubertal development but after that it is a trash hormone that mostly just gives us acne, enlarges our prostate and causes hair loss. That is why millions of men safely suppress their DHT with no issues whatsoever.
The cause of finasteride's side effects are not fully understood but I imagine it probably has more to do with neuro steroids than sex hormones.

Do you think that Finasteride is less effective for hairlines or is it just a case of what they are allowed to claim ? Interested to hear your thoughts.
I'm 21 and started noticing some recession. So glad I saw a physician and started finasteride early to slow down the recession from the get-go.
Well done for catching it early 👍🏼
I'm 21 as well just started finasteride a week ago
@@sc-zo1dm How you getting on? I’ve been on it just over a month now with no problems. The first week, I think got some very mild headaches but that was just my body adjusting to the drug I think.
I'm 21 too but I found it at 18, took me 3 years to get on fin, I wasn't sure about getting on it in my teens. I'm still a nw2 with slight thinning on the left side of my head though but fin should hopefully maintain.
@Zoro Vinsmoke Well it’s been a while since I’ve been on it. I’m so glad I started finasteride. Haven’t had any side effects.
Cheers! Much obliged as always.
I started micro dosing. A 1/4 of a tablet 3 x per week
Update?
i only want to stop hair loss, i still have head full of hair but the shed is too much
what dose do you think i should start with ? and for how long until i notice the stop of shed in ur opinion?
Just start with a small dose, 0.25 mg is finasteride a day (after you speak to your doctor). Shedding is temporary and will stabilize after a few months.
Fin is a great stand alone treatment.

Hey man! Quick question: Can creatine be taken with finasteride? If creatine is known to increase DHT and thus speed up MPB, can finasteride negate these effects? would they be safe to take together?
Just wondering if you have personal experience with it,

Yes, creatine can be taken with finasteride. It is not a drug, it is a supplement naturally found in food and that your body even produces in low doses.

I would say it's a Norwood 2, slightly receded but not enough for most people to know.

indecisiveness is by far the worst thing u can do.
here are the scenarios:
worrying about how your thinning hair looks and spending hours thinking about it and wsaste unknown $$ and being very insecure .. and see ur hair progressively get even worst and think 'what if' when it's too late
or just pop the pill forget about it, let it run its course. if u get the side effects, then stop it or alter dosage.
indecisiveness and insecurity and regret are already a demasculine traits to have. that's probably going to lower ur androgens regardless lol

Look up more plates more dates “proving with bloodwork testasterone causes hairloss”

Of course no one knew in which group he was.

day 2 extremely high libido, highly stimulated, euphoric, slight ache down south.
It took me 2 years
This is my story.Started Fin year ago at 4-5 mg/week, no sides, high libido, after 3 months hair regrowth ( I have difusse thining ).Then I started reading about sides on reddit and everywhere only about sides.Next week I have all of them lol.I linked every single thing to Fin.I stopped.Losed all gains.
Thing next time wen you eat pizza that fast food couse Cancer.(There is no 300 lbs fatt guy suing Italy, beacuse that shit is delicious ) I am mad now.Fuck. Sory bad English.
Well the side-effects of fin are not only on forums, but also on pharmacy websites. I live in the EU, it's written on a pharmacy website what the side-effects are and that they can remain after stopping fin, although it's written that it's rare.
Liar
Hey Kevin. Currently overweight. Working on that through exercise and diet. Any worry about starting Fin now? Or should I wait? Need to jump on something quick.
FuzzyTrainVII nah go for it its all in your head
“Pathetic life forms” got me 😂
Hey man, just want to know your thoughts on the article: Finasteride Completely Destroyed My Life on the website Medium.
@@haircafekevin thanks for the replyi understand now it totally make sense , good videos by the way really instructive
@@juldebienjean7107 Thank you.
I like this guy. He can be articulate while throwing in curse words here and there. I just picked up my Finasteride prescription 👍👍👍
Thank you kindly homie.
@@haircafekevin Thanks to you I won't have to wear a hat so much anymore. Lol.
You're making a difference.
Happy Holidays.
@@laroyrichardson You too! Thanks.
If you decide to stop, taper it off, don’t stop cold turkey. I did this and I now have PFS
I also havent found anything about it online, so I think I should be good, but just to make sure you know :) Really appreciate your videos btw! great stuff
b0_0ster cutting finasteride isnt a problem, i take 0,25 mg everyday. It still supresses almost the same dht
Update ?
So it’s definitely working, just going through ups and downs along the way by the look of it.
hows your hair man?
Kevin Mann thanks man , I’m going to get on Fin for the long term
Good luck✌
It's probably fine, lots of young guys use fin. Talk with a doctor first though.
tim tale I started taking fin since I was 19 (currently 20) and I’m fine.
@@CHUR3DD3V1L5 No sides at all? how have results been?
tim tale yeah no sides.
