    Ric, Maybe I missed it, but have you ever explained why you are a puzzler? Could you talk about your personality and why you are now a RUclips puzzler? I'm very interested to know if you have always been a puzzler, who introduced you to it and why you love it so much.

      Hi Heidi, thanks for the feedback! Yes i have always been a puzzler, almost 30 years. I still remember the first puzzles i had as a kid! 😁I started my RUclips channel when i started seeing videos here, about a year ago. for me, it was a no brainer as im a creative artistic individual. The rest is history. But I had another channel before, i was posting vids under spacetrilobite and sadly every single puzzle and title were being replicated somehow by karen puzzles - literally days after my videos were posted, she would come up with the same puzzles, titles, ideas, themes / it could be one coincidence after another? So she said when i confronted her. I felt robbed and used. after that i deleted my channel, i later on decided to continue, because i love making content and solving puzzles and so this channel was born. Thanks for asking!!
      Solving Puzzles is a very natural thing for me to do, as a quiet and more private person, When i solve puzzles it relaxes me in a way that no other activity does, ops, i think wood carving also does that! I love immersing myself and becoming one with puzzle. For me every piece becomes a person, it’s a magical thing.

      @@RicPuzzles I'm sorry to hear about your early troubles, and very glad you persisted. I'm also sorry to hear about Karen, who of course is a very public personality in the RUclips puzzler realm. I think her early video career involved repackaging other people's ideas and she probably thought a small youtube personality would never notice or care their ideas were being stolen - in fact I imagine popular people imagine you should have been flattered. Bunk. So far I find your approach very, very distinct from all the other puzzlers who try and fill the space with so many words, and the whole pace has become fast, fast, fast, with speed puzzling events and a race to cover the latest gimmicky puzzle. And then there's you, who picks out the very hardest puzzles, sometimes antiques, create a strategy, and painstakingly piece it together with a plan and joy that its hard! No wall of words, no relentless haste, no feeling that you are in a rush to finish to get on with the next one. Just demonstrating your pleasure at the journey. So refreshing. This is how I want to puzzle, so I enjoy watching you.

      @@RicPuzzles However, lol, I don't feel like I have the answer to my original question, which was not about YouTubing, it was about Puzzling! Did you have a relative who puzzled with you when you were a child? Was puzzling something you always loved or did it become a love in adulthood? What is it about your personality that gets so much pleasure from puzzling? Why do you puzzle? Why are you a unique puzzler? So many questions!

    • @RicPuzzles
      @RicPuzzles  7 месяцев назад

      haha! all good, I get asked a lot about my RUclips history, I must have misunderstood your question, so terribly sorry! I grew up in a very creative environment. My mom was a painter and heavy in arts and crafts and we were always surrounded by artsy stuff and puzzles. I remember the earliest puzzle I completed vividly, it had giraffes and a lot of green trees etc, and im still looking for it in my storage haha. I dont feel like there is anyone who were inspiration for me? the puzzles were always part of my life since I can remember. but I guess the creative side and the desire to share the special puzzle adventures with the world has become a more recent thing in my life. I never knew there was a huge community of puzzlers online, I always thought I was the only adult who solved puzzles and never even mentioned to anyone until after Covid when I started seen videos online.

      Hi Victory, thats ok..it’s just sad that someone in a position of power such as Karen Puzzles finds the need to plagiarise small channels and other peoples ideas and never acknowledge who she gets the ideas from. It is an unregulated field at this stage but an unethical move in my opinion and even though i set my youtube to not suggest her videos anymore i still get suggested all the time. And that really annoys me. I do not like nor support Karen Puzzles. She is a content vampire. It would be much nicer if she said ‘hey guys i saw this or that in such and such channel and this is my take on it.’ That would be the right to do.

    It's great when you find a puzzle that relates to a place where you live. 👍 I have a couple of jigsaws like that which I have kept. It's the pleasure of putting the jigsaw together that matters rather than how fast you can do it. Hey Ric I puzzle very similar to you in terms of the nuances in shape and colour to texture on tabs, corners or transversing the piece to continue to adjacent piece. I would also have a preference for this style of image over a gradient or single colour with no texture. I get my ‘single colour’ joy from sky, meadows, or bodies of water which provides the additional interest of texture. I can legitimately say this too as I have tried gradients etc. another great video many thanks.

    Nice picture, but i have to say that over the past few years, Holdson jigsaws seem to have become looser in their fit than previously, which is a shame. I find it hard to move sections without them coming apart whereas they used to hold together quite well. But they do have consistently lovely images. I am drawn to pictures and puzzles that have bodies of water in them, which is odd as I don't think of myself as a 'water' person at all.

    • @RicPuzzles
      @RicPuzzles  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hello there! Thanks for checking in too, really nice. I don’t recommend using ads at all, or the promotion here in the yt studio! The videos get suggested to every single human on earth and everyone who is not in the niche and therefore it literally causes the video promoted to be jammed down to a viewer who will not only watch it for the few seconds (= zero retention) and will likely to thumb down too because they didnt want your vid in the first place. I would use ads if you just want the views on a well established channel, not in a small or new one as yt is figuring out who your viewers might be!! Hope that helps!

      @SkylarV65 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@RicPuzzles did you at one point use ads on your channel to grow? I did for a while and just recently discovered the mistake I made of using ads, and if so how did you recover from it thank you so much for your response!

    • @RicPuzzles
      @RicPuzzles  7 месяцев назад +1

      hey there! thanks again for the reaching out, all good. I did use it for a few weekends in the last few months. The first thing I noticed was that the retention went from 90%, even the long videos of 30mins + were being watched almost entirely, then suddenly they dropped to only 20-30 seconds. I think that after a while you do recover if the content is decent. It won't kill the channel entirely - it will just stop suggesting to new views. If you have a good community built around your channel, it may just stay stagnant or with very little growth overtime. Having the support from loyal subscriber is a key element for me. as they will tell others, share etc. I think a few of my subs they share my videos on Discord and Facebook which has a massive Puzzle community, so that gives me huge exposure to the right viewers. that guess bypasses the YT algorithms or the lack of it.
