One thing this series has over the Ice Sheet is that the colonists as a whole tend to have more personality. Cambiar did, obviously, but the rest really didn't. Everyone here does, though.
Cobra did have personality and Giraffe too but not as much I’d say. However Cambiar is way better than Steak IMO and Steak has been kinda overshadowed by Redhawk and Edmo, while Troy is basically a research bot

I can’t help feeling sorry for the real life patron Edmo who got his name attached to such an obsessive unstable stalker. I agree with upgrading defences being the next project. Raids are starting to escalate. Also I would start working on microelectronics, deep drilling and mineral scanning because you are going to be desperately short of steel once it is all mined.
The patrons know their names are going to end up in Rimworld, and they very likely know what can happen in Rimworld. Many of them would even be exited to give their namesake to the next cannibal that joins.
Yes I wanted to say that on the previous episode. Anything worthless that Redhawk sells , like pistols and what not. There is actually a tab in the stockpiles called 'Allow Smeltable' which accepts everything that's made out of steel.

(I know, a comment a year later) I had to laugh so hard at that. Edmo is out there single-handedly destroying a psychic drone, then another one guarded by several turrets, he's a key part in defending the colony, and the sculpture he gets is because of his flu one time :D
i love your rimworld videos so much, it helps me to learn english because you are an amazing narrator, and the gameplay is really good, Cambiar and stake had such simple adventures on the vanilla game, but at the same moment it was the only rimworld let's play i really enjoyed, thanks for doing this amazing job

Poor Edmo. There's really no good place to put that statue. Sure, it'd be weird in his room, but in the common room, everyone's just going to be snickering at it while eating their meals!
It's interesting that you are trying to go for machining in order to get rid of the mechanoids laying around: a recent update allows to smash them in a crafting spot, problably to discourage that. It's slower but gives the same resources.
Also probably because they're basically useless now, only giving a small amount of steel compared to plasteel and components in previous versions. One of the major disappointments after not playing since 1.0.. Plasteel was already a rarity, now it's nearly nonexistent if you don't have Royalty to get the mech clusters.
Imagine being Murray, trying her best to open the steel door to escape being killed by our colonists, taken down, and seeing the door open only to show the colony's crematorium.

1:00 Open Air Hydroponics? I never even thought about it. But it does work, you got no rain to cause damage... 9:00 So he is getting rid of a Rival, while Redhawk is too supressed to notice? Pretty evil that one. 13:50 The low Psychic Supression might help, debuffing all the enemy females consciousness... 17:00 Oh, the Flak jacket. Yeah, that one takes up the outer layer. Where the Duster normally goes. It could work with really good lower layer clothing. A Flak Vest you could equip with no issues, as it only takes the middle layer. 18:00 Future Plan ideas: - Did you receive any serious injuries fighting yet? If so, Flak Vests for everyone could help. - you need some serious storage for food, ideally a freezer. Something like Radioactive Fallout could short out your hydroponics. Alternatively you could just build a Sun Lamp anyway.
First, let me start off by saying I love your show. Beautiful pacing and excellent storytelling. I still miss Cambiar sometimes. One thing I'd like to see would just be the time since arrival. Just from time to time, it's hard to judge the time pass when I play, even more so when I'm engrossed in your play. Again, love your series. Take care.

Steak and Edmo working together during the raid was really cool to see. They might have their issues with each other, but when it comes to protecting the colony (and Redhawk) nothing can come between them.
Hy Pete, longtime listener here and greatly enjoy all your series. You talent in narrating is just plain excellent. One recommendation though: may try to add a so called "de-esser" over your recording (or if you already do, turn it up a notch). Listen on rather high volume to the first minute of this video and focus on the "S" and (german) "SCH" sounds, they are rather sharp and they are close to clipping. Everything else: outstanding as usual, keep it up!
If you’re playing on the latest rimworld version, they actually added an option (recipe?) at the crafting spot to “smash mechanoid”. So you can do that to get some steel and plasteel from the ones just sitting in storage without having to research machining. It doesn’t give as much as doing it at a machining table but its better for when the research if far off and you need steel.
Since you have rice coming from your hydroponics (with more hydroponics coming) you may want to consider planting something else in that growing area you've been using. Maybe potatoes or if you're good on food something you can use for trade, or cotton for clothing.
i did a refugee quest, i think it all depends on their mood, 1 person i had near max mood the whole visit joined me, and the other left also quite happy and sent me a psytrainer and advanced components, late game its definitely worth it
Rice may grow fast, but it provides less yield than potatoes and corn for the same amount of work needed to sew and harvest, so if you want your colonists to spend less of their time on sewing and harvesting crops, then consider building additional hydroponics trays and switch to slower-growing, higher-yield corn or potatoes. As for what to make in the future, given your very small colonist count, I'd recommend having at least 3 nicely-armored melee colonists, and the rest wielding chain shotguns, molotovs, or emp grenades, and create a chokepoint where only 1 enemy can funnel through at a time, and where no more than 2 enemies can shoot at your defenders at a time without being in melee range.
TIP: Use the reconnect feature on the electronic devices instead of manually switching on/off with colonist. Only needs 2 power lines near. 1st you already have providing power 2nd just needs 1 power conduit with no power. When you get Turrets this can save you from ALOT of power and repairs. Stuff that has no power do not require maintenance repairs ("breaks"). VERY USEFUL !!
Hey Pete, I am pretty sure that since your last series there is no way to disassemble the mechanoid, you can only shred them for steel. So you probably shouldn't plan to get any components or plasteel.

Little advice here, adjust what you are planting in regular soil, now that you have hydroponics and enough food, you can use those for cotton, rice and herb medicine, and then use soil for hay and potatoes. Also decide whether to have chicken, pigs or cows for ingredients for fine meals, rather than having a suboptimal setup.
I think Redhawk going out in the desert to get rid off Toi would have made a lot sense too. She really wouldn't be happy to care for another unwanted suitor/stalker.

Don't forget that you can smelt worthless weapons and tainted armor into steel/uranium/plasteel or even cloth (flak vests)

You should upload more often man, once a week is not enough.
You should switch your regular (soil) rice plot over to potatoes. They'll grow more efficiently and you no longer need the fast turn-around time.

Just a suggestion. A door from the hydroponics area into the kitchen would save a lot of time transporting rice to be cooked.

Yeah defenses would be good. You've beat them back pretty good, but remember the enemies get stronger and you're in a good position to bulk up.
