  • In January 2023, European travel expert Rick Steves hosted the Festival of Europe - a series of free, fun virtual events to inspire travelers to their next European adventure.
Greek tour guide Apostolos Douras joins Rick to celebrate Greece. From Athens with its majestic Acropolis, our virtual tour takes you to the ancient sites of Delphi, Olympia, Epidavros, and Mycenae, splashing in the turquoise Aegean, sampling family-crafted olives and wines, and learning to play backgammon at a whitewashed taverna. Our Greece tour offers an enticing mix of ancient history, contemporary culture, and relaxing vacation.
Recorded 1/28/23. Promotions may no longer be valid. #festivalofeurope #ricksteves

I've been eagerly awaiting this viewing as I missed it originally. Greece was one of my best trips. Your DVD truly helped me. The view of the sites from our restaurant was out of this world. The locals made me feel like nice family.

i was there in 2015 during the whole austerity crises. walking thru the Plaka, business was so slow you'd have restaurant owners literally begging you to come eat with them. even if you just left another place, they'd try to get you in theirs. but you can't eat and shop everywhere, even if you want to help. really sad.
love Greece. i need to go back.

Greece, such a beautiful country & it's many islands, so stunning!
This was such great viewing & is packed with great info & such wonderful images!
Greece, a country possessing buckets of historical text & has always been such a strongly influential country on a global scale, specifically in correlation with the Western world.
Greece has contributed so much to so many.
IMPO, Greece is somewhat underrated & i hope many more watch this video & give it a like & subscribe.
    Thanks for sharing.

In the late 1960s many Greeks fled the right-wing military dictatorship. Quite a few moved to Vancouver, B. C., especially the Kitsilano area where I lived. There were many Greek restaurants. Saganaki (fried cheese) is a favorite, and it goes well with Retsina wine. And Ouzo is wonderful!
