It's funny because the CSX GP40-2 and 38-2 literally run down the street from me😂
I have a local shortline that runs GP9's and always runs them long hood forwards. Definitely an odd sight but a great one to see.
Awesome 😎
If anyone is wondering in the slug unit on the eco set is just a giant block of concrete where the engine would be
Have always loved GPs especially the GP7.
A csx train engineer throws me a norfolk southern vest
My favorite geeps are the gp30’s
NS Uses GP59's and 60's on the Amtrak Michigan line on a local, it's always fun to see and hear them at speed. (What god meant for them to do😎)
The Geep’s certainly have a Distinct Look to them. Thanks for the Video from Hotlanta, GA. 😬👍
Thanks for watching!
The Hartwell Railroad has several high hoods. There is an old high hood in Chessie paint near Athens. It's currently undergoing slow repairs, but for now it sits, looking abandoned.
I remember that they said it needed a new generator I think
I'm going to make my way over there at some point!
@@v12productions just let me know. I can get you connected to the right people
U got to love them gp7s
Don't forget Southern GP painted Green 💪😁

Very well done! Certainly are everywhere, been around foot 50+ years and I’m sure their will be for another 50. Thanks for the great vid
Thanks for watching!
If you look at the 1026's fuel tank on the engineer's side, you'll see a massive dent. I was told once that this came from an accident that happened when the locomotive was in service. She was in a lash up of units when a man on a motorcycle blew through an unprotected crossing. Striking the locomotive broadside. The impact catapulted the bike up onto the running board, and tossed the rider over the locomotive. He did not survive.
Should have come out to the rock two weeks ago. We had our GP7 out and about for a spell on the 2nd train. Ex C&O 5896. :D
The dent story is bizarre! I'll look for it the next time I'm there.
Sorry I missed the Stone MTN GP7. I haven't seen it in a long time. I think the picture I included in this video was 2 or 3 paint schemes ago.
@@v12productions you can see the dent at 0:21. It's almost smack in the center of the tank. The 1026 has a history of misfortune. Including a few deaths on board. At SRM she got the nickname of "HooDoo" for a while. Good locomotive otherwise. Old reliable when she was called upon it.
5896 looks pretty sharp today. She's in the Rock Line Green scheme, much like the Fs. She gets used a lot as a backup locomotive and switcher. As she doesn't have an on board generator for HEP like the Fs do, she requires use of an auxiliary generator in the caboose. So she's not the first pick to go out on the road. But she makes it out time to time. :)
A very common train but yet a very important one for the railways
Very Nice !!!!!
Love the vids vi2 keep them coming
Thanks! More are on the way!
@@v12productions ok
Great video! One of my favorite Geeps is the EMD high hood GP50s that NS had. It's hard to chose a favorite though as there are a lot of different types of Geeps to choose from.
Thanks dude! I love the high hoods too!
GP50’s are unique as they have a longer central radiator air intake on one side, and a short one on the other side
I have a Norfolk and western ho model of one...and it’s nice, high hood too, even has a standard n&w rs5t on the long hood forward end
There is a new gp38 on EMD so they are back in production
*geep*
not jeeps but geeps
