Aww, I feel so bad for him--yes, he was very brave. Back in '91, Jens had some pyro go off too close to his head and it knocked him out for at least 10 seconds. I guess he got through the rest of the show but he had to go the hospital afterwards--poor thing!;( (So, not only does he love blowing stuff up, but he survived GETTING blown up...MUCH RESPECT!\m/) And he had a sense of humor about it! On his website, he said, "Luckily there was no per-lalaharalabalabala-menent damage..." LOL
yeah!! It was a burn of the second degree and he did not go out running, he did not allow that the nurses should extract it though they insisted him, he continued singing for his fans, it is an example for us, he continued forward as the whole good professional
demonstrate that THIS is a real metal band and Koti don´t cry and run away after the explosion. i like see if u can resist that kind of burn in your hand and you can sing anyway

Yes, the people paid for a gig, they wanted to listen to METALLICA, not Lars, Jason, Kirk playing and James just singing with some technician or random guy playing the rhythm guitar. He may not be the lead guitarist, but still, without Hetfield's playing, it's not Metallica. That's why the cancelled their gig and James left for the hospital. I am not downgrading Kotipelto, conrats to him for continuing with the show, but don't compare different situations.

Well, when you're a guitarist you play your guitar like 5 hours every day, or more, and you don't feel "the two hour 2nd and 3rd degree crap", try hold some fireworks in your hand. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be singing, more like screaming of pain or something.
This is exactly what I'm talking about. Comparing this incident to what happened to Hetfield is lame. Try playing guitar with a 3rd degree burnt hand and have fun struggling in the hospital to not lose your hand from infection. I am not trying to degrade Kotipelto (like I said, he's among my favourite metal singers), but degrading Hetfield is more stupid IMO.
