I swear last night i dreamt that i was in Luthadel, clothes stained with soot and ash, walking down the street with Kelsier and Vin. After reading this book, I actually feel like i knew these people and i was right there with them. Definitely an amazing book. Gonna get the second book later today.

The biggest surprise in this book to me was that they actually beat the Lord Ruler in the FIRST book. I was convinced that he would be taken down in the second one then the deepness would be dealt with in the third.
I'm with you. it caught me off guard. I really thought at least the first 2 books would be dedicated to overthrowing the empire. When it happened I was stunned. What surprised me was how readily the book was willing to sacrifice strong characters and premises that could have had room for more exploration. It's a great thing I think. There could have been so much more written about Kelsier and the Lord Ruler. But the book was just like nah these guys are dying and I'm like okay but what about the rest of the trilogy? It's cool though I love that.

One of my favourite quotes is by Sazed: "What is belief - what is faith - if you don't continue in it after failure?" Just yes, this book, yes. Im so glad this was the booksplosion book this month because I read the whole series last summer and loved it, but not enough other people had read it! So its great seeing so many people doing book talks and loving it. The whole trilogy is amazing, the characters get developed even more, twists left right and centre, some really cool characters get introduced. It's awesome, I envy you for getting to read them for the first time, because it was such an awesome experience for me.
I thought the same thing! I thought that Vins brother was gonna be right and the kelsier was just gonna backstab everyone (especially since in so many scenes the crew was questioning if everything was getting to his head)

I adored them together, but still, when she went to fight Shan for him and she goes: "I love him", I was like, come on! Give us a bit more of a slow burn! I get how it seemed rushed, but keep in mind that for them, it had been several months. Of course, you are entitled to your opinion, I just think that a lot of their relationship developed beyond the pages, and we didn't read it, and thats how it can seem rushed/insta love

This is a great series. I just started "The Hero of Ages" and I'm loving it. The Fantasy genre isn't always known for well developed characters, but in Mistborn, character development is incredible.
Your mind is not going to survive the next two books, it is an amazing series from the very fist page to the last. Brandon Sanderson is the best, I am now reading The Way of Kings and the epicness is unreal...
I had to pause reading a few times to sob over kelsier.. like really sob. *tears up* its still not okay. My favorite parts were with the crew altogether and joking on breeze, just the little things like that. What endearing characters.
This is such a great review!! I totally agree that Vin's facedown with Shan Elariel and the Allomancer assassins on the Venture rooftops is engaging and intense! And I'm also absolutely dumbfounded and appalled when the Lord Ruler...KILLS Kelsier!! That is startlingly harrowing and gruesome; I did not see it coming AT ALL! And haha, that different theory of yours that you had about Kelsier is interesting! ***** Absolutely! The book isn't just this big build up to somebody's death. You might not appreciate this side of the story that much (and that might not even be a bad thing - you'll save yourself some heartbreak), but I'm sure you'll still love evrything else in this book. It has a lot to offer!
I finished this book about a week ago and I loved it! The book was a 4/5 stars for me throughout most of it, but the last 100 pages or so made it a solid 5/5. The ending was so satisfying.

Literally when Kelsier died I had to phone my best friend, who had ranted to me when she read the book and was trying to get me to read it, and just rant to her and oh my gosh just I loved that book so much! Also I loved Sazed he was so great

Basically everything about these books and I can't wait for the live show so I can just bask in all the other people loving it with me! Yay!! 😍

*SPOILERS* It wasnt that he didnt deserve to die or shouldnt have died. The twist was that he planned to die from the start, he planned to become "The survivor" an almost mythical figure that gave the Skaa a religion to follow, hell even most of the skaa army marched to their deaths because they believed that kelsier was a god and that he gave them strength. He wanted to makes Mare's dream come true, for she died for him and he was living on "Borrowed time" as he described it. The scene where the skaa light the torches and rise up in the mists, and vin and the crew read the letter kelsier left for them... had me in tears. Also they way he died was just absolutely badass on the part of the lord ruler, rashek literally slapped the life out of him.
the fact that kelsier alone destroyed the hathsin pits, it simply jumped to a completely new character, who was never seen and the whaamm kelsier arrives "you baby boy, get that atrium beed and sell, now scape, I completely fucked every guard here" It is written so good, though I wouldve love to read through all that kelsier action

The English isn't tough. U may try. It's so sad that when we can't read wonderful stories because of language barrier. I tried reading lies of Locke lamora but the vocab is so though.
Omg you have to read the next two books!!! Especislly if you like character development cause the way you feel about some of the characters now will change drastically by the end of the last book ;) in fact when I read them, one character I loved in the first book and one that I absolutely hated kind of swapped haha, you really get to know some of the one dimensional characters in way more detail later in the series :) The second book is a bit less actiony but its still amazing, and the last one will blow your mind so much I cant even

But still a great book, especially the farther I got in. Have you read The Stormlight Archives, one of his other series? I like it better... SO FAR. The English isn't tough. U may try. It's so sad that when we can't read wonderful stories because of language barrier. I tried reading lies of Locke lamora but the vocab is so though.

Don't skew over people who have put a lot of time and effort into creating a product.
Omg you have to read the next two books!!! Especislly if you like character development cause the way you feel about some of the characters now will change drastically by the end of the last book ;) in fact when I read them, one character I loved in the first book and one that I absolutely hated kind of swapped haha, you really get to know some of the one dimensional characters in way more detail later in the series :)
The second book is a bit less actiony but its still amazing, and the last one will blow your mind so much I cant even
If you love Kel, I think you would really like Mistborn: secret history. Big spoilers for the rest of the trilogy so don't read it till after, but it's good. It's I'm Arcanum Unbounded

unlike most people I wasn't that sad about Kelsiers death.I mean of course I got sad and that letter was just heartbreaking,but I was So descimated at Reen's death.It just completly wrecked my heart.

I disagree though, I thought it was kind of slow to start off, and a little predictable! But still a great book, especially the farther I got in. Have you read The Stormlight Archives, one of his other series? I like it better... SO FAR. He's got 8 more books so who knows what's gonna happen.
