I prefer to see it as a window looking into olde England. A simpler, happier time perhaps? I love the fact that this village has changed very little for many years when you look at archive film and compare it to recent videos. Thanks for watching.
I agree. I regret the tone of my comment which I intended to expand and was interrupted. I found the stocks as well as the fox chasing the hare on the roof to be a bit "twee" but I was also lunging at an opportunity to use a term I have heard from English people but which is not used in part of America. I certainly apologize if it offended. Actually, it is a excellent study of vernacular (or folk) architecture and the video captures the spatial relationships of the buildings--a key component in understanding early architecture. I was thrilled to come across this wonderful video and have watched it twice. I have studied the evolution of American vernacular which of course is contingent on studying early British examples, but so often one is unable to see published the smaller, rural buildings of early England. I'll go out of my way to see this village and I thank the person who posted it.
Dale Couch No offence was taken I assure you. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and I certainly recommend a visit to this peaceful village if you get the chance to. Thanks again.
Thankyou for bringing my 1970s childhood holiday memories to life. Happy times
Been cpl of times its stunning place to visit and at the big house lovely scones and cream tea .
Couldn't agree more!
I've spent all my life in the city so the fresh air and silence of little villages like this feels completely alien to me.
Looks like a fairytale, so beautiful😍
Very tranquil, love these devon villages. This is what I would like my model railway village to be like one day!
It is very tranquil and like stepping back in time. The cottages on my layout have thatched roofs as a nod to this village.
