  • This is the story of Iryna Asanova, a young Ukrainian mother and her family, their journey to Romania, and the experience receiving care from a local General Practitioner supported by WHO.
As thousands of Ukrainians fled their country amidst the emergency, Romania warmly opened its borders, offering refuge. The Romanian Government swiftly granted these refugees immediate access to vital health care and various essential services. In a significant move, WHO Romania assembled a dedicated team of bilingual Romanian General Practitioners, fluent in Ukrainian and Russian, to serve these refugees. This initiative has greatly enhanced access to health care for the Ukrainian community in Romania, ensuring they receive the support and care they need during this challenging time.
