Originally released as GUNS IN THE HEATHER in UK cinemas in 1969 as the support to THE LOVE BUG. I ran the programme back then at the cinema where I was a projectionist and I'd forgotten what a superb cold war spy thriller it is. Disney haven't got the talent to make anything like this now. Thank you for uploading it. It seems to have never had a DVD release.
I remember watching this on TV when it aired. Years later in high school, during an assembly they showed a movie called "Guns in the Heather." As soon as I began watching it I knew it was the same movie. Enjoyed it both times. And now once again. Thanks so much for posting it.
Omigod! Thanks for uploading this! An absolute favorite of my family's throughout the 70's (played every year or two...) Super high production values; incredible locations, awesome, tight script, great direction; a forgotten classic in the Disney oeuvre. I can't figure out why they didn't release this in theatres, it is so obviously much better than the Computer Who Wore Tennis Shoes. I had been looking for this under the title Boeing Castle, that's how long ago it was that I watched this. What a treat!
Many thanks for sharing this epic. I was made in Co. Clare, in Co. galway, Ennis, the Burren, Quin, Kilfemora, Sixmilebridge, and so may other great locations. I have been looking at a poor video copy for years, so I hope it stays here on RUclips. I know a lot of people in Ennis who will be very pleased as it is now a part of their history.....
I especially loved the beginning of Walt Disney presents where Tinkerbell flies around and the kaleidoscope of colors swirl. When they would show the different rides it was so neat. My grandparents had a black and white TV, when the color would play out on the tv you could almost imagine what colors they were. My grandpa felt bad that they didn't have a color TV so he went and bought one. That was a treat!!
it is not hard to believe this still resonates as a charming part of my youth. there was nothing on for kids like there is today. And Disney was a family event on Sunday nights right after Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom!!!
Love the villain AKA Louis Mountbatten. I remember the color song because we had one of the first color TVs in our neighborhood. Some shows were in color and others in BW. There was a transitional period.

I remember the whole family used to sit and watch this at 6PM on Sundays. We only had a B&W TV though, and after about 196(5?), I think (It's a guess) they started this "wonderful world of color" . I always used to try and guess the colors. Sadly, by the time we did actually get a color TV there was soime kind of change in Disney (I don't recal what happened) so I missed it entirely, except in B&W..

Sunday night watching these Disney films was a rite of passage in the 60's and early 70's.
I agree
Yes it was ... I remember Sunday nights, Disney and Augie's pizza with my family ..Some of my best childhood memories :)
Charles Black Baingan those were precious days of our lives. I also loved the movie Moon Spinners with Haley Mills...and so many more.
Thank you. I love this adventure story about espionage in Ireland. Many, many thanks.
I love this movie but could never find it because i kept thinking it was the Secret of Bowen Castle. Great watch for St Patricks Day.

Excitement, intrigue, and a 'Bond' style theme. Now that's life! Anything with Kurt Russell is going to be good. A natural actor.
Thanks for uploading this because I had seen all the episodes except for the last one that solved the mystery of Boynes Castle.
