I was looking through my shop books from the 90s. I was buying Turkish Mausers from Navy Arms / Gibbs for $19-$29 each depending on model. Sold them for $35 to $50 each. They flew off the racks. While well used, and I mean well used, they still had decent bores. Better than most refurbished Mosins. Definitely
I've used this Turkish 8mm light ball ammo in various 98 actions for years with no problems or issues...very accurate and sure-fire. NOT for use in semis, however...
I really love the riffle, it's very old (much older than us!) but still can work properly.. Mauser is classic, it's a proof of good quality craftmanship..
My first Mauser was a Turkish one, paid for it, got it, went to go shoot, didn't fire, take it to a gun smith, get told I was sold a wall hanger. Was a painful day to learn that.

Its so beautiful, the rifle. I wish I had one. Everything about it from its fine wood to the metal to the smooth way it operates is catharsis. Its more than a firearm, its art.
If you like that old Mauser, you should pull the old Turkish ammo apart, and reduce the powder charge by 5 grains. You risk cracking the stock on that rifle.
I've fired over 14,000 rounds of 1930s Turkish ammo so far. Hasn't hurt any rifle yet. It doesn't even kick as hard as new manufacturer, European 8mm JS hunting ammo. Honestly, if you want to download it, I'd go more like 10% than 5. 5% isn't much.
The only problem with Turkish ammo besides the common primer issues that's universal to milsurp is the brass being brittle. It's a lighter load than German light ball or even Portuguese light ball which are both extremely well regarded.
