Hear ye! Who cares what your voice sounds like?! The music they make FITS Tom’s voice. Put someone who sings “wayyyy better” and it’s just not going to be the same. The thing about this music right here is it’s relatable! You can sing along to it and hit the notes he does!!! It’s real. Another thing, guys like him are an inspiration for singers like me. I was diagnosed with vocal cord paralysis and have recovering for seven months. My voice isn’t as strong as it once was, but I’ve learned more about music and written more music in the past seven months than when my voice was at full strength. Why? Because music became a means of expression vs. a means of being skilled or talented. Thank the Universe for people like Tom.
Okay so it seems like Tom was out of breath a lot in the beginning. He did nail Rebel Girl and The Adventure and the ending of Heaven. Still love Tom no matter what :)
@@bluepearl_22 yeah i meant the past recorded ones with ava and blink and boxcar. i'll never know why he was so bent in fucking up his vocal performances everytime, cuz it's obvious he knows how to sing. just didn't seem to want to, for some reason.
@@dehvinco One key factor (at least in those times) was his painkiller addiction and the fact that he used to perform hammered in accompany with that. This can really fuck you up, trust me.
06 Tom from WDNTW was so amazing, the start the machine documentary shows how he was so into AVA and the music, I know he’s older and with age his voice has gone down, he’s occupied with his family and company and chasing aliens and his voice fits the new AVA style of music, plus I did see him live on the tour and he has sang great but that 06-11 area of AVA he seemed to be so much more inspired by the music
He’s still passionate about music, he had a lot on with his other projects but its starting to not need him to be as involved as he used to so now he’s gone back to music. Just because he’s been involved in a lot of other things doesn’t mean he isn’t as passionate about music as he used to be, it’s clearly still a big thing to him and always will be
Opening with Surrender is a bad idea. As the show went on Tom's voice did get a little better. But surrender is too much on his voice to be the first song. He needs time to warm up. Which is hard to do with a half hour set.
Yeah I agree this should be a mid-set song. It seems a bit taxing for him. I think it doesn't help that he's struggling with keeping his breath (using too much at a time).
I swear David’s guitar is just never turned on. It always looks and sounds like he’s not even playing. It even looked that way when I saw them live! LOL

In comparison to when he actually was 'drunk Tom', he doesn't actually sound that bad here. I think this is just how has voice sounds after touring for the first time in 7 years. But this isn't actually bad, he's still in key, and doesn't slur his words like before.

The slurring is back but I would imagine his voice is strained considering he hasn’t toured in some time, and it’s much easier to roll the words then to fully annunciate them. I’d pay money for this.
